USA Today bestselling author Scott Mackenzie takes you on an unforgettable adventure from the Pacific Northwest to a Caribbean island paradise, and the dark places that lie beneath in Uncharted Waters.Vince Stark has writer’s block. His first book was a runaway success, redefining the romance genre from a male perspective, and piling pressure on Vince’s shoulders. Fleeing Seattle to live on a … live on a boat in the Caribbean didn’t help. No one can live up to all those awards and accolades, but with the money running out, writing another bestseller will be the only way to keep his life afloat.
His muse shows up in the form of Tenn, a beautiful free spirit aboard a bohemian boat.
He’s inspired again, but he’s also suspicious.
Tenn clearly has secrets.
When she asks him to help her sail across the Atlantic, Vince sees his opportunity to both get closer to her and distract himself from the impossible task of writing his sophomore novel. But Vince has a few secrets of his own.
And the sea will expose them, one by one, as they fight to survive.

Uncharted Waters is a fiction book set in the Caribbean on a small island called Solitude Bay. We start the book with Vince, the author and Kayla his agent looking to get a book deal. Apparently his agent knows the business well enough to get him signed, book unseen. But that sets into action Vince being put on the spot to deliver a book in a short amount of time. How can he write a book that he hasn’t even started? Is he even in the right mind frame to attempt to dive in? What ensues is a story with some secrets and an ending that will surprise you
I fell in love with the small island town of Solitude Bay and it’s characters. Stan and Vince were the “regulars”, but when the outgoing Tenn shows up, everything changes. Life on a sailboat isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be. Solitude, shady supporting character, secrets and mysteries all play a part. When you are all alone in the Caribbean, you must have a story to tell.
I found this story had a good balance of character development and story progression. I thought it would be more thriller like, but what I got was a well paced fiction story that took me on an adventure across the Atlantic with unexpected developments later on that threw me. I got secrets, action and the beauty and danger of the seas that thrilled me. As someone that is not familiar with sailing terms, I feel as if I may have learned a bit. A few parts of the story seemed to be glossed over and I felt they could’ve been more integral to the development of the overall arc of the story while reading it. I was disappointed in some of those details, but in the end, it wouldn’t have pushed the story forward.
I really enjoyed the characters as we got to really know Tenn and Vince since they were our main characters and they took us on an adventure. It was at times maddening, scary and frustrating and other times, a bit romantic. And even in the character’s silence, there is much said. That is one thing that really stood out.
The beginning was solid, but then when I thought I was going to get one story, I got something unexpected. I was almost disappointed and questioning where Mr MacKenzie was going with the story. Would he be able to make the connections I thought he needed? Let me just say, I was pleasantly surprised and didn’t see it coming. I won’t go into details over this. I will say to enjoy the story being told. It’s not super fast paced, but it is always moving. It centers around sailing and the characters and their connection to one another. I can totally see this being “the beach read” of this year for spring break. Entertaining, tantalizing, mysterious and surprising. Do yourself a favor and give this book a shot.
“Beauty is meant to be shared, and I can’t think of anyone better to share it with.”
In order for me to enjoy a book it has to have great dialogue, a well developed storyline, and characters with depth. And I think that it’s safe to say that Scott’s book had all of that.
The dialogue flowed, making it hard to put down.
I found the story to be very interesting. Adding to the story was the fact that you could tell that Scott has done his research in trying to make sure the sailing aspects of the story would be believable and enjoyable.
When I say character depth, I mean I enjoy the slow peeling of their layers. Not fully knowing who they are right away. Being surprised by them. I felt Scott did an excellent job with this.
Definitely take a look at this one!

This book was nothing like I thought it would be but it was so enjoyable!
Vince Stark, had a best selling novel years ago and now he is broke living on a boat in the Caribbean. His only hope is to write another bestseller. Going on the journey with him as he battles writer’s block was so wonderful! I don’t want to give anything away from this story because every twist and turn this book takes is worth reading without knowing it’s coming. I really hope this author doesn’t stop writing books like this. It was such a wonderful adventure to go on.
I fell in love with Solitude Bay and the residents. This story had the perfect mix of character and plot development. I was kept on the edge of my seat, waiting to see what was going to happen and how everything was going to come together in the end. While I did see part of the twist coming, it did not take away from my enjoyment at all.
