“Chemistry that lights the pages on fire.” – USA Today HEA blog “When we crash-landed on the island, I thought my story was over. Turns out, it was about to begin.” He was a total jerk from the first moment we met. I took one look at the stranger in the airport terminal and knew he was exactly the kind of man my mother spent seventeen years warning me against. Gruff, grumpy, and far too … against. Gruff, grumpy, and far too good-looking to stare at without experiencing heart palpitations.
Thankfully, I’d never see him again.
Or so I thought.
I couldn’t have known our plane would crash.
I couldn’t have predicted we’d be the only survivors.
I couldn’t have ever, in my wildest dreams, anticipated that the jerk from the airport would become my only source of solace in the darkness.
It’s so wrong to want him, for so many reasons. But as the months slip by and our hopes of rescue grow dimmer… the spark between us kindles into something impossible to ignore.
Sometimes, survival requires swimming in uncharted waters.
But if salvation doesn’t come soon…
I might just drown in him.

This story literally gripped my imagination from the first page! A story of such bravery, strength, friendship and love that will have you smiling and crying.
This book did not finish like that. UHNN, No freaking way. I literary throw my tablet across the room (thank god for protective cases) when I finished reading especially since back then (a couple of days after release day) there wasn’t a confirmed second book. Now I’m a little calmer and really my initial reaction was the main reason why it took me this long to write this review.
I don’t generally like a big age-gap between couples but I loved Tracey Gravis-Graves On the island books and this one sounded quite similar based on the synopsis. Alas I gave it a try and I loved it expect the ending, that’s a killer.
The author has a phenomenal writing style which is so easy to get into. It’s smooth and flowing, that sucks you in within pages. Actually this one was the first book that I read from the author but I definitely fell in love so I see some more of her books in my near future.
The pot itself, while really interesting and exciting has plenty of shock factors and emotional ups and downs, starts out quite slowly and if I consider the events leading up to the island experience and the actual experience then it’s a bit lopsided. I would have loved to see more of them on the island and how they adjusted but I also see why there is such a focus on the uploading events since it creates the perfect atmosphere for this particular story. As for the romance part, then I can say that this book has a slow burn romance because when things start to get real good and dynamic then the story just ends.
The story is greatly emotional and challenging and I loved every minute of it.
Regarding the characters we mainly get to know Violet, while Beck kinda stays in the background. When you first meet Violet I wouldn’t say that she is a character that you instantly fell in love. She is a teenage girl who longs for adventure in her life; she is vivacious and perky, kind and temperamental. But she also had a duality to her character, which I loved, because when she gets into chaos and danger a more mature and resourceful self of hers come out and it was a feat to follow her journey to becoming an adult. And this side of hers is the reason you easily can see the characters getting together and falling in love. She is a really strong character and I grown to love her.
As I said Beck is kind of stays in the background, he is there for Violet and supports her every way possible. But at the same time he is doing his own thing on the ‘other’ side of the island. I would have loved to see into his head time to time.
So when is the next one coming?????
