Following the deadly events of Afghanistan, Rex Dalton and his companion, the military dog, Digger, escape from Afghanistan and make their way into India. Rex knew that to stay alive he has to remain ‘dead’. Rex tries to put the past behind him and start a new life, no more secret missions, no more killing, no more violence. He and Digger are going to travel the world, visit historical places, … places, and learn about other cultures. Life becomes an extended holiday, they have nowhere to call home and they’re enjoying every moment of it.
Rex and Digger are on their way to Kapal Mochan, India, where Rex intends to dip his hand into a sacred spring, a symbolic act of cleansing the soul and in his case to finally put his violent past behind him. When they pass by a public park, Digger starts shifting around in the front passenger seat and looking at Rex as if to say, “So, when are you going to stop and give a dog a chance to go to the toilet?”
It is the ideal place to let Digger out and he pulls off the road. While Rex is unpacking their lunch, he becomes aware of the presence of a strange old man who seems to have appeared out of thin air. After a few moments of awkwardness, the two of them to start talking, and before long Rex and Digger have an invitation to dinner with the old man and his wife.
During dinner, Rex finds out that the couple’s youngest daughter has gone missing and decides to help them find her. A decision which puts him and Digger on a perilous journey.
As Rex follows the leads to the missing girl, the closer he gets the more dangerous it becomes. Between a man in prison, an unscrupulous money lender in Mumbai, an illicit arms dealer in Saudi Arabia, and their cronies the two of them get into more danger than they’ve ever been. It turns out that the daughter of his new-found friends is not the only one in need of help and it starts to look as if he is not going to be able to help anyone.
UNCHAINED is a full-length novel, a nail-biting thriller by best-selling author JC Ryan. It is the third book in the electrifying new Rex Dalton series.

Well written thriller with some stretches but still very good.
The Rex Dalton saga just continues to get better and better. The action is nonstop, plenty of plot twists and I couldn’t put it down. Rex is a great character just as exciting to follow as Jason Bourne and Jack Reacher.
Rex’s exploits are fun and clean but not realistic. I do appreciate Rex’s code of ethics in a world of desperation and war.
I love me some Rex Dalton…
I always enjoy Rex and Digger stories
A hero to get behind. He and his dog are an amazing team. Plenty of action and humor, enjoy O sure did 5 stars
The Rex Dalton series is full of action, drama, and adventure. Unchained had me hooked from the beginning and the story was well developed and written. Rex Dalton displays a sense of humanity while not being afraid to use violence where deemed appropriate. This is one book I had a hard time putting down and enjoyed throughout. I myself, having a service dog while being deployed overseas, made the book much more relatable and personal. For anyone interested in an action-packed thriller, you can’t go wrong with JC Ryan’s Rex Dalton series.
Couldn’t put it down!
Good read…well worth it.
Good reading.
Well this is a wonderful story. Different worlds, different cultures and how ones life can change in the blink of an eye. I enjoy reading about strong people that can make a difference
Though some of the hero’s prowess was a little over the top the book was entertaining and the characters were well fleshed out. Great job on including his trusty companion dog. Unlike a loy
of other authors he didn’t dismiss the ending and gave it a more than adequate conclusion.
Rex is cool, but Digger is the best. Their toughness and the vengeance they inflict are awe-inspiring. So great to read about!
I love Rex and his dog, Digger, and you will too if you enjoy an action packed thriller.
Rex Dalton, who was supposedly killed in an explosion in Afghanistan, is alive and well in India, along with his dog, Digger. Dalton is touring historical and sacred sites when he meets Gaya, a wizened older man who invites Dalton to dinner. Dalton learns that Gaya’s youngest daughter, Rehka, has disappeared. So Dalton and Digger go in search of the missing girl. Rehka’s mother has filled Dalton in on what truly happened to Rehka (debt to an unscrupulous money lender, false accusation of theft at work, sold into slavery). Rex Dalton is a believable hero, a man superbly trained physically as well as in weapons and spycraft. The book Unchained follows Dalton as he tracks down Rehka from Mumbai to Saudi Arabia. This is a fast-paced excellent read
Loved this book. The whole series in fact
Good read! Not his best, but still fun to read.

Excellent action novel. Great characters. Lots of action. Interesting sidekick in a trained dog.
