As a teenager, he channeled his defiance into running, discovering a prodigious talent that had carried him to the Berlin Olympics. But when World War II began, the athlete became … World War II began, the athlete became an airman, embarking on a journey that led to a doomed flight on a May afternoon in 1943. When his Army Air Forces bomber crashed into the Pacific Ocean, against all odds, Zamperini survived, adrift on a foundering life raft. Ahead of Zamperini lay thousands of miles of open ocean, leaping sharks, thirst and starvation, enemy aircraft, and, beyond, a trial even greater. Driven to the limits of endurance, Zamperini would answer desperation with ingenuity; suffering with hope, resolve, and humor; brutality with rebellion. His fate, whether triumph or tragedy, would be suspended on the fraying wire of his will.

awesome story
True story kept my interest.
If there ever was a book to add to your “books to read before I die” list, this is it. There are few books as inspirational as “Unbroken”. Impeccably researched, You are left amazed that the perseverance of the human spirit and ones ability to find forgiveness against circumstances that would otherwise motivate understandable hatred.
Quite the profound read, really moved me, would most definetly recommend
Wonderful Book with a great reporting of WW2 POWs and their survival.
Based on a true story, this was an amazing, inspirational story beautifully written…much better than the movie that was made from it.
Possibly the best book I’ve ever read
Loved every bit of this book! Very inspirational and interesting throughout!
A book of amazing courage and hope ………..a lesson in humanity
Strength, resilience, honor, perseverance – grit. Who among us is like this?
I remember when I read this, thinking they should make a movie out if it—and they did. Unbelievable the life this man lived..
Read it a while back but enjoyed the true story of survival as a POW.
excellent personal story and historical account. well written, in depth account of personal triumph over tragedy.
I am always drawn to a non-fiction book that reads like a fiction story. And Laura Hildebrand is an excellent author at achieving this feat.
Her characters were real and sympathetic . They had realistic trauma and accomplishment in their life . I look forward to the next well researched and well written story she puts to paper.

Outstanding
This Book covers the inspiring life of Olympic runner Louie Zamporini. He met with tragedy and suffered in captivity with the Japanese yet he also came to understand what it means to forgive.
The most amazing book I have ever read.
Accurate, historical, educational
Incredible story about how brave individuals can actually be.
