Sometimes fate gets it all wrong.Zoey Kent has lived with that fact ever since she turned eighteen and learned that the man she loved could never be hers. He’s a born shifter, a wolf, and she’s a mere human. Fate doesn’t care if on paper they’re a perfect pair. She isn’t his fated mate and she’s resigned herself to the knowledge that someday, she’ll have to watch Michael mate with another. It’s … another. It’s never crossed her mind that there might be someone else out there for her, that she would be the one to mate another, to choose another over everything she’s ever known or wanted.
Sometimes fate gets it all right.
Rafe Hudson left his pack behind years ago. Physically and mentally scarred from an attack that left his parents and twin dead, he walked away from his responsibilities as Alpha. He never intended to return but lone wolf or not, he can’t leave Michael open to an attack he’s learned is coming for his only brother. What he didn’t know was that going home would mean scenting his mate, the one person in the world that could make him whole again, that could give him everything he thought he’d lost. His pack, his home and his family.
But fate always has a plan.
There’s no way Michael’s brother is her future, is there? Just like there’s no way that the girl his brother has loved since they were kids, was always meant to be his, right?
Only fate knows why they were brought together but there is one thing for sure, the sparks between Zoey and Rafe are undeniable. The bond between them is unbreakable. And together… they’ll change the face of the pack forever.

Hard to believe this is Jess Bryant’s first PNR Book. She absolutely nailed it. The character building, the other world rules of living in a werewolf pack, the concept of fated mates. All handled beautifully.
I loved the angst of the unattainable love she felt for one brother, only to find she was in fact fated to the other. Perfect level of growly MINE behaviour I love in a shifter book and gotta love a damaged hero.
I couldn’t read this one fast enough and definitely recommend if you want to escape reality for a night & enjoy some PNR Goodness. Ends on a cliffhanger and I can’t wait to get my hands on book 2 in this series. Lots more characters who need their story told.
I received an arc of this book

Unbreakable Bond (Fated Mates Duet Book 1) by Jess Bryant is a paranormal shifter romance told in dual POV.
Zoey, a human raised by the pack, has been in love with her best friend, Michael, her whole life. Michael is now Pack Alpha, but he and Zoey always thought that when they both came of age they’d be fated mates.
When she turns eighteen, they’re disappointed to learn that they were wrong. Michael’s wolf does not scent Zoey as his mate, which means they can never be together because fate has someone else for him. They both accept this but have a hard time letting go.
Four years later, Michael’s older brother, Rafe, returns to the pack and shocks everyone when he scents Zoey as his mate and is determined to fight to claim her. Can Rafe really be her fated mate? Will Zoey choose Rafe over Michael? Will Michael find a way to change fate?
I enjoyed Zoey’s love story. I loved all the characters: Zoey’s fiery personality, Rafe’s tortured but sweet alpha soul, and Michael’s loyalty and kindness. This is my first shifter romance and the first book I’ve read by the author. It won’t be the last.
Jess Bryant always writes layered characters that show emotional growth and her foray into shifter romance is no different.
Michael and Zoey have been friends forever. They’d once hoped they were fated mates, but it turned out they weren’t. Despite their disappointment, they have maintained an affectionate friendship. Despite being the youngest son, Michael inherited leadership of his wolf shifter pack. He became Alpha at a young age upon the unexpected death of his father and eldest brother and the disappearance of his other brother, Rafe.
Having left the pack years ago, Rafe has set foot on his pack’s land for the first time since that tragedy that took his family. He expected his reunion with his brother would be awkward, but he didn’t expect to find his mate. ‘Lo and behold, his mate is Michael’s best friend Zoey.
Full of insta-love and outdoor interludes, over-protective alpha male and sassy woman. There is no cheating and no triggers. Minimum of violence and not overly graphic. HEA for main characters, but includes a teaser for book 2. Absolutely recommended!
This is the first book by Jess Bryant that I have ever read but I really like a good paranormal romance so I felt the need to read Unbreakable Bond. It’s an interesting story about a Alpha wolf shifter named Michael and his best friend a human named Zoey. They were teen sweethearts that always assumed that fate would have them mated when the time came. Well the day came and went. They were not fated to be so now it’s four years later and Zoey has been in a holding pattern waiting for Michael to find his mate and having her heart broken. What no one expected was the return of Michael’s older brother Rafe, a broken, traumatized Alpha wolf shifter to come and claim Zoey as his mate! This story has twists and turns going on in a very short period of time. It ends in a HFN but you will definitely want to continue with this series because I plan to. It’s told from dual POV and at times is a little wordy but I still recommend Unbreakable Bond to all paranormal shifter romance fans.
Loved this series !
Unbreakable Bond is a story about fate and finding love when you least expect it. Jess Bryant’s first ever PNR and I couldn’t have loved it more! I cannot wait for Book Two; Seriously..Can I have it like right now? Anyways, I’m getting ahead of myself…
This is Zoey & Rafe’s story… Zoey is a human living among a werewolf pack and she has always been in love with her best friend Michael (the pack alpha). At one point they had hoped they were each others “fated mates” but when Zoey turns 18 and nothing happens; they are both left disappointed and confused by their individual feelings. Zoey is left feeling like she doesn’t truly belong and is stuck dealing with her “friend-zone” status. But one “fateful” night everything changes..
Rafe is Michael’s older brother he left the pack after tragedy struck their family but is returning to ask for help from his brother and the pack for a good friend. Upon his arrival he isn’t prepared to “sense” his fated mate…their connection is instant and their bond unbreakable. These two have finally found in each other a place to belong..but Rafe has a past and some unresolved demons; Can he put that behind him and look towards a future with Zoey?
This book had all the juicy PNR goodness and a killer cliffhanger/glimpse for what’s to come in the next book.. Read Unbreakable Bond; I promise you won’t be disappointed
I’m told that this is Jess Bryant’s first PNR book.
I am very pleasantly surprised to hear that.
Unbreakable Bond was a really good book. I loved that it only focused on the werewolves and not a million different paranormal “species.”
This book is the definition of insta-lust-love, and it’s what’s expected with werewolves and their mates. I adored that.
You have a human girl who has always been in love with her shifter best friend when she turns 18, which is when “mate bonds” are suppose to happen, it comes to be that these two weren’t fated to be together.
Then here comes the best friend’s brother, and BAM, automatic need and lust happen and they’re not sure if it’s only because of the mate bond or if it’s more and they’re destined to love forever.
While there was little drama in the book, the main focus was about Zoey and Rafe’s bond and why these two were truly fated to be together. And, let me tell you… it was beautiful. She really was his yin to her yang.
