The premise of this book sounded amazing and I really wanted to like this but I really didn’t like it that much. I mean I had very mixed feelings when it came to this book. I also believe it was marketed a little wrong, it was marketed as a horror and it really didn’t feel that horror to me, for me it was more mystery. Mystery would have fitted this better rather than horror.
This book also fell very flat the premise sounded amazing and I was really looking forward to it but it just didn’t work for me. I think it was more a bunch of stuff that made it feel that for me over a few things. The idea was good and the writing was fantastic that’s why it did get the rating it did because the writing was amazing. It gave you some creepy feelings and you had no idea where it was going! So the mystery aspect was done amazingly!
So Vicki’s relationship with I don’t actually remember his name, but it really didn’t feel developed or necessary it felt like it was just there to be there. It was very undeveloped and even the characters themselves all of them felt very one dimensional and didn’t feel very developed. So that was really disappointing for me.
When they got evidence it fell into their lap, it all happened kind of conveniently, like when Vicki or the police needed to figure something out it was just there. It really ruined the book for me just how it all happened, I felt like it was a little rushed, the suspense was great and the author could have let it go a little longer. I also felt the ending was a little rushed, the ending was amazing but still felt a little rushed.
Also, one thing in the book Vicki searches the internet for occult stuff and the police come with a warrant to search the house/computers and everything. I find it very hard to believe that they didn’t pick up on what she was googling. They would have definitely brought her in for questioning for that. As I said there are a few discrepancies with this and although they are minor it really does affect what I think about this book.
Also, the way they all had secrets was just baffling surely you would all know some kind of secrets maybe not what they are but the fact they had this “perfect” family life you’d know just how farfetched that is but it worked with the story.
As I say although I was greatly disappointed there were some good parts of this and that was the writing and the mystery and suspense.
Ummm wow! I did not see that coming. Not the way I thought that was going to go. . This book is full of surprises and sick twisted things. I was definitely shocked .
In this book Vickie is a small town girl. She has a twin brother Travis, another brother Kevin, her mom, pops, papa and Uncle Jerry all living in a large property. Her family is pulled into a murder investigation of the little girl next door, named Michelle. When all the evidence seems to point back at the family, Vickie tries to find out the truth. Things just get weirder and weirder Vickie just doesn’t know what to do or who to trust. Even her own family has many secrets and lies popping up everywhere. Will the killer be caught before someone else dies? The clock is ticking and time is running out before the Ultimate Sacrifice has to be made.
This would make an excellent horror flick. It is twisted and scary, with interesting characters. It will have you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing till the end. Just when you think you have it all figured out, bam! Something happens and you find out that everything is definitely not what it seems.
