This is a series where you do have to start with book one Tyche’s Flight otherwise you will be lost to of some of the subtext with the characters as well as what is the reasoning behind this non-stop action packed second part of the series.
The crew is dealing with problems from within their dysfunctional family and they need to get it together or the enemy that can take you apart from the mind out will not only tear them apart but all of humanity in it’s wake.
There is a lot of fre-enemy relationships in this series. Those that were firing at you one minute may be shaking hands and making a deal at the end of the day.
It’s great seeing the growth in Kohl especially as he is warring with his mercenary side against his secret desire to belong to a family. Seeing the family grow and evolve into a tight knit cohesive unit is great.
Their journey towards saving themselves and the human race is filled with weapons, blood and guts galore. Combine that with dry sarcastic wit and non-stop action where up is down and down is up at times keeps you on a knifes edge as you hope they are successful in their seat of the pants plans.

Another exciting and thrilling 2nd! The misfit crew come together and unite as family, overcoming their emotions. the characters are so well described and the in depth is wonderful! New twists and turns unravel desperate encounters, time to be together with humanity.
Some fun facts to minimize the fear, action packed, always trying to be one step ahead made me dizzy with wonder!
Tyche’s Deceit was a fun read. It has a lot of adventure and witty repertoire. It picks up where Book 1 leaves off with them trying to catch the alien bug creatures that are trying to take over the universe. They learn what the aliens are trying to achieve and what they’re deadly ship looks like as they go through the Galaxy trying to find them and keep their crew together and alive.
This book goes into the relationship of the crew members and how they learn to accept each others quirky dispositions. The crew member Kohl learns that maybe it’s good to have friends and Grace learns the same and they both realize that it’s a wonderful to have a family and that is exactly what the crew is on the Tyche’s a big weird family. The captain of the ship, Nate brings them all together as they fight across the universe to destroy the invading bug aliens.
This book is just as exciting as the first one and continues on it’s ongoing mission to not only save humankind but aliens also. They all work together and fight together to keep their homes and universe safe. I can’t wait to see what will happen in book 3 Tyche’s Crown . I’ve really enjoyed the adventure and the camaraderie of its characters, they are all melting into a great fighting machine. Come join me, you won’t regret it I promise.
An exploration of family, set against the backdrop of past betrayals and current danger.
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. And I’m pleased that I jumped on board!
This book continues the Tyche series. While you can read it alone, I think you’ll better appreciate it if you read Tyche’s Flight first. My personal taste in books tends a little more toward the gritty, I’ve really enjoyed this bubblegum series. All the books I’ve read so far have felt like Parry is writing an episode of Firefly set in his own universe. It’s a feel-good, family-oriented (with one tasteful sex scene) story of broken people learning how to trust again.
Nate and Grace…a couple? I love this rag tag crew complete with all their flaws. They are truly family!!! You will root for them, shake your head at times, laugh along with them and even at them and shed a tear or two along the way. Mr. Parry might get wordy from time but you will forgive his wordiness just so you can continue the saga. A close to perfect blend of a family of crewmembers, creepy, skin crawling invaders (the insectoid Ezeroc), a Republic infested by these creatures and an offer to join up with a depleted rebel Empire to save humanity. What possibly is not to like? But best of all, Mr. Parry offers hope!!! Hope that the good (?) guys will win out. I’m starting number 3. I can hardly wait to see what happens to Tyche’s family next time.
They have found the aliens and they need to rush back to warn everyone that they are coming to destroyed all. Can they get there before them? See if they can

A few unexpected circumstances and the scenes and characters are written with such realism pulls together beautifully.
This is a solid SF action/adventure book with space flight, futuristic weapons and nasty aliens.
This is book two in the series and it is highly recommended that they be read in order so that you understand the background and characters.
I have been looking forward to a good SF series for a while and I think I just found it. We have everything I have been hoping for and more. The writing is solid, the story fast paced, and the characters are well developed. There is also plenty of intrigue, hidden agendas and surprises to keep you on the edge of your seat wondering how they are going to get out of each jam. It kept me turning pages when I should have been doing other things. I found it highly addictive and look forward to the next book.
Highly recommended.

It took me a while with my vision difficulties, but my daughter and I finally read this book #2 together and it definitely didn’t disappoint.
It continues the tale of a disfunctional spaceship crew, actually more of a family, that work well together, not only because they have to, but because they want to.
This episode in the series has constant thrills and action, both on the ground and, how the author describes space, in the hard black.
I can’t wait for the next book in this wonderful sci-fi series.
Another awesome job from Mr. Parry!
