Even the pets have a great time when the extended Faraday, O’Callaghan, Thornton clan set off on an adventure. You will find yourself with a new favorite family member, or maybe a few, by the time is all said and done. I know I will never look at a meet and greet with authors the same again. When Lauren Carr is telling the tale, there is no predicting what direction the action will take, or even how two very different adventures can go so differently than planned. Even when murder is setting the scene, I promise you will find moments to laugh!
We’re back with the usual suspects, er, I mean characters, but where are they? Well, the men are all going fishing, spending some male bonding time. No crying allowed. And the women are attending an authors award ceremony at a posh hotel, being pampered, wined and dined in the presidential suite.
The pets, you ask? Oh yes, they’re along for the adventures. Gnarly and Storm are with the men. There are a couple of scenes where I laughed out loud. One is an incident with a door that involves Mac and Gnarly. Another is the fishing contest where the only ones who caught any were Gnarly and Storm. And I must share one more. There’s the case of the vanishing cheese balls. If you’ve met these canines before, I think you can guess who the culprit is. Then again…maybe not. My son came in my room to see what was so funny.
And Spencer and Monique are with the women, being spoiled rotten. Spencer has their intimidating looking private concierge, Garth, wrapped around her little paw with just a wag of her tail. And Monique! Oh yes. I finally get to know her personality. You wouldn’t expect one for her species, but she brings her own brand of mischief.
The guys are busy solving a murder, the women are trying to prevent one, and the critters…. they’re probably laughing at the silly humans.
Can you read this without having read the other books? I’d encourage you to start at the beginning so you don’t miss out on the fun, but yes, you can. Each story has a different plot and Lauren provides a break down list of all of the character’s and how they connect.
Once again, I’m charmed and in love with this series. Keep bringing them, Lauren.
Twofer Murder is a book done well. If you think one murder mystery was not enough for you. You will get two in this book. Lauren has now outdone herself with this one as you will see if you decide to get it and read.
The boys go on a fishing trip together. When they arrive they meet some new people in Scary, WV. They take two dogs with them. Tristan, Mac, Joshua, Murphy, JJ, David and two dogs are all together for a weekend.
Jessica, Archie, Sarah, Dallas, goes to the writer conference for that same weekend with a spider named Monique in Pennsylvania. Cameron joins the girls on their weekend when the Black Diamond shows up and Dallas calls David.
There appears some murder galore in this book. There are three victims. Will the boys solve the murders? There are twists and turns throughout the book. Will the girls solve their murders? Also, the book goes from one murder to the other. There are a total of thirteen parts all together.
Who could be the killers in the two murders, that take place in two different states? Tristan got his only little mystery as well. I love this book. There are some many mysteries going on that I believe you can get caught up in the book. Will Tristan find his missing cheese balls? Who has taken, Tristian’s cheese balls? Will Tristan find the culprit of his missing cheese balls?
Sarah as her own little adventures. To find out what all these adventures are you will need to find out by reading the book.
This is one of my favorite books so far of all the books by Lauren Carr I have had read, and I have loved them all. She takes all the main characters from 3 of her popular series, Mac Faraday, Lovers in Crime, and Thorny Rose mysteries and put them all in this one book. Not only that, she sends the women to murder mystery writers conference in Pennsylvania and the guys go fishing in West Virginia.
Sounds fun right? The women end up involved in a murder of one of the writers at the conference and the guys end up involved in the murder of a journalist investigating a timber company for fraud. They basically all still work together to solve both crimes even though they are states away, via cell phones. Each group works on their own case but gives and gets input from the others via cell phones.
I love how she has all the characters watching each others backs both near and far. I love the humor as well as the seriousness in the book. Lauren has really done a great job with this book. I love all 3 series, but by putting them all together this made for a really great read. I love how all the characters are so well thought out, and each person brings their own weight to this book. Everyone is a star player in the book.
I was given my copy by Lauren Carr and IRead Books Tours in exchange for my honest review.
