This series is so enjoyable! The characters are relatable. The world building is wonderful. I can’t wait to see where this story takes us!
Another excellent book by AJS! This series had so much action with a romance budding throughout making a great balance.
The friendships shine through, even when characters have good reason to maybe not be loyal to thier friends, but rather their mentors. A second relationship starts to evolve and I really like that we get to see things from one person’s POV rather than the main two characters.
So many details are uncovered in Rhia’s plan with new twists that might point to some characters being more innocent in thier motives than we first assumed…
All of this is happening while Maray is trying to learn the basics of life in this new world that she is set to one day rule. (Side note: I have very high hopes that both Maray and Jemin will not only live, but that they will find a way to be together and I’m hoping so much that I’m not wrong.)
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
After reading book 1, I has to dive into book 2 immediately! This is how compelling the series is! I’m almost wondering if there is some hypnotic element by the author…The story picks up as we are Maray and her family once again in the world Maray grew up in, trying to adjust to all that has happened. But someone has to deal with her grandmother, Rhia. Maray’s father sets off to Allinan to try stop her. Maray, of course, cannot idly wait and persuade Jemin to take her back. Only this time, she is hunted by not only her grandmother’s lackeys but also by the Revolutionaries, the very people who are desperate to prevent Rhia from becoming stronger and they are determined to kill Maray to prevent her being able to facilitate her grandmother’s evil intent. Maray and her friends are not sure who they can or cannot trust. Rhia’s character is so convincing as someone who will do absolutely anything to cling to power and gain immortality at any cost. I loved that it’s not predictable and how Maray slowly grows from a confused teen, to a powerful young lady who embraces her magic and her role as princess. Going from one world to the next is seamless and beautifully executed. Its a tale of intrigue, politics, betrayal, loyalty, love, magic, shapeshifters and so much more! It’s no wonder I read it in a few hours! I’m being compelled, book 3 is calling…
Strong Heroine – Wonderful World – Powerful Story
Two World of Oblivion – the sequel to Two Worlds of Provenance – follows seamlessly the events of the previous book. Maray does not have time to linger, just a few weeks after her return to Vienna, she has to go back to Allinan and prevent the revolutionaries from succeeding in securing the throne for Rhia.#
Maray has come to terms with her destiny, she needs to go back , gain control of her own magic and claim the throne for herself as Princess of Allinan. Immediately after her return to Allinan, the action rapidly quicks on and the events turn on a dime. It is a very fast paced book, a mixture of adventure and romance, perfect lecture for all ages.
Ideally this book should be read after “Two Worlds of Provenance”, but can also be enjoy by itself, as it gives just enough information (but not too much!!) to keep up with the narrative.
It is a fantastic reading, even better than the first, I just cannot wait for the third installment in the series to know how Maray story develops!!
The second book begins with Maray back in the world she grew up in with her mother, who she’s still a bit leery of, and her father who continues to train her, knowing she still isn’t safe. Her grandmother remains in hiding and could come for her at any time in order to steal her blood, something that would give her immense power. And the rogue revolutionaries are intent on preventing this from happening in the only way they know will be absolute, by killing her first.
There is nowhere in either world where she is safe. But Maray’s mother must lay claim to the crown before Rhia returns and all is lost. The danger in Maray’s world is all too real, so Maray must return to Alinan to continue her training and, hopefully, spend time with the one person she misses most from that world, Jemin. But it seems even Jemin is not safe from those who wish to destroy the chances of Rhia’s return. Will Maray survive the conflict of her new world? And will she and Jemin find a way to overcome the stigma that comes from her swiftly devoping feelings for someone “below her station?”
This adventure continues to thrill and excite. The heroine is strong and level insightful and refuses to be taken down without a fight. Her friends are loyal and are there to lend their strength. I found it impossible to set the story aside once I began reading it. And I can’t wait to see where the author takes these characters next.
