It’s Stephanie Plum, New Jersey’s “fugitive apprehension” agent (aka bounty hunter), introduced to the world by Janet Evanovich in the award-winning novel One for the Money. Now Stephanie’s back, armed with attitude — not to mention stun guns, defense sprays, killer flashlights, and her trusty .38, Stephanie is after a new bail jumper, Kenny Mancuso, a boy from Trenton’s burg. He’s fresh out of … He’s fresh out of the army, suspiciously wealthy, and he’s just shot his best friend.
With her bounty hunter pal Ranger stepping in occasionally to advise her, Stephanie staggers kneedeep in corpses and caskets as she traipses through back streets, dark alleys, and funeral parlors.
And nobody knows funeral parlors better than Stephanie’s irrepressible Grandma Mazur, a lady whose favorite pastime is grabbing a front-row seat at a neighborhood wake. So Stephanie uses Grandma as a cover to follow leads, but loses control when Grandma warms to the action, packing a cool pistol. Much to the family’s chagrin, Stephanie and Granny may soon have the elusive Kenny in their sights.
Fast-talking, slow-handed vice cop Joe Morelli joins in the case, since the prey happens to be his young cousin. And if the assignment calls for an automobile stakeout for two with the woman who puts his libido in overdrive, Morelli’s not one to object.
Low on expertise but learning fast, high on resilience, and despite the help she gets from friends and relatives, Stephanie eventually must face the danger alone when embalmed body parts begin to arrive on her doorstep and she’s targeted for a nasty death by the most loathsome adversary she’s ever encountered. Another case like this and she’ll be a real pro.
Two for the Dough is irresistible fun and powerful suspense entertainment from an acclaimed author who is already a national star.

In Two For The Dough beginner bounty hunter, Stephanie Plum is given the assignment to bring in Kenny Mancuso, a guy just out of the army and suddenly wealthy. The Stephanie Plum series is very entertaining. Stephanie is a hilarious nut job with a delightfully zany personality. The back and forth between Stephanie and her mentor, vice cop Joe Morelli is hilarious. For a delightfully entertaining read grab this. Very enjoyable.
Stephanie is back and even though she stinks as a bounty hunter she’s great for a laugh. Grandma plays a HUGE role in this one and I have to say I can’t get enough! I am becoming addicted to this series and so far I’m okay with that
SO FUNNY! Loved it! Stephanie is great — the way she interacts with others and how honest she is with herself. She’s just so real to me. The supporting characters are even more fun than they were in the first book, already so much stronger. I can hardly wait to see what happens next!
Stephanie is a character. She is a bumbling bounty hunter. If it can happen to anyone, it will happen to her. She is “working” with Grandma Mazur on this case and it just cracked me up! I had to constantly stop and explain what I was laughing about!
If you’ve read #1–be sure to continue with #2. I’ve been watching the numbers grow when perusing books for some time… if I’d known, I’d have added these books to my TBR list! #3 next.
Highly entertaining and better than the first!! This book is also 10x funnier, and Grandma Mazur is hands down the highlight of this book! She adds humor and spunk!
The writing style is definitely different for me. It’s not as emotional which is what I’m used to and really helps me connect to the story. It all feels a bit jarring and factual at times, bit regardless of this, I still enjoyed the book very much!! Looking forward to reading the next book!
Love this fun series
Love all her books
I had so much fun reading this book! It was definitely entertaining and I can’t wait to continue reading this series,
Great easy read in fact have read everyone of the series
Stephanie Plum is not your average girl! She gets herself into predicaments both with her job as a bounty hunter and her romantic life. Her friend Lula adds humor to all situations. The characters are so much fun.
Love the characters and how I would laugh out load reading it!
Everything about Stepanie Plum books is just fun, like eating your favorite junk food.. fast, easy and feel good now!
I really like all the Stephanie Plum books.
Best to read the series in order
Another fun Stephanie Plum novel, but this one wasn’t as thrilling and exciting as the first one, One For The Money.
In this second book, however, the grandmother of Stephanie Plum had a much bigger part and her character was terrific. She was funny and more than entertaining. I enjoyed reading about a tough old broad who didn’t care what people thought of her. The parents were great in this one as well.
The characters in the story were just as entertaining as the story itself, and even though it was a predictable plot line, it moved with lightning speed which is the way I prefer it. I loved Steph’s bantering with Morelli, the cop, and their relationship is the perfect blend of sexy, intense, and humorous fun. Another enjoyable novel.
The Stephanie Plum Series is a work of art. The author weaves a very believable tale of a “Jersey” girl, surrounded by a crazy ethnic family, resorting to employment as a bounty hunter for a somewhat-sleazy family member. Her exploits are hilarious. This is a wonderful blend of “laugh-out-loud” and “mystery.” This is a must-read for anyone wanting to “escape” with a very good book.
Fun read
I LOVE JANET EVANOVICH!
3 stars to book #2 in the Stephanie Plum mystery series, Two for the Dough, by Janet Evanovich. Since I’m going back to complete reviews on all the books I’ve read, and there are over 20 in this series, it would be too boring to do a normal review… so I’ll keep it short. A few fun things about this one:
1. We’re still getting to know how crazy Stephanie Plum is compared to everyone else. She’s neurotic in a fun way — sort of like I am.
2. This one is all about her libido with Joe Morelli. What’s more important… getting lucky or catching the criminal? She can’t decide but Evanovich presents many funny romantic situations in this edition.
3. Stephanie’s cousin is hilarious. He’s a creep. And I would not want to meet him in reality. But he provides necessary humor.
4. Not knowing how to properly catch a criminal can really get her in hot water. The situations she finds herself in are just laugh out loud. I don’t know how the writer keeps on coming up with them.
5. We’re learning a bit more about the dangers of Ranger. And I like it! He’s someone you just never know what to expect… it could be good or it could be the good kind of bad.
Characters are fun, make me laugh out loud
