The “must-read YA thriller” (Bustle) from #1 New York Times bestselling author of One of Us Is Lying about a small town with deadly secrets.“When it comes to YA suspense, Karen M. McManus is in a league of her own…” –Entertainment WeeklyEcho Ridge is small-town America. Ellery’s never been there, but she’s heard all about it. Her aunt went missing there at age seventeen. And only five years … missing there at age seventeen. And only five years ago, a homecoming queen put the town on the map when she was killed. Now Ellery has to move there to live with a grandmother she barely knows.
The town is picture-perfect, but it’s hiding secrets. And before school even begins for Ellery, someone has declared open season on homecoming, promising to make it as dangerous as it was five years ago. Then, almost as if to prove it, another girl goes missing.
Ellery knows all about secrets. Her mother has them; her grandmother does too. And the longer she’s in Echo Ridge, the clearer it becomes that everyone there is hiding something. The thing is, secrets are dangerous–and most people aren’t good at keeping them. Which is why in Echo Ridge, it’s safest to keep your secrets to yourself.

I seriously hope we have years and dozens more books to come from McManus. She doesn’t disappoint.
She writes believable and well plotted mysteries.
One of Us Is Lying was one of my favourite reads in 2018, and I can already tell you that Two Can Keep a Secret will be in my 2019 list of favourites.
It’s very different in tone from OoUIL, which I honestly appreciated. The mystery is vastly different. The narrative is vastly different. I’m glad we got something new and exciting.
That last page will haunt me for a very long time.
I will forever continue to purchase any mystery novel McManus writes because she truly is masterful.
This is a super clever murder mystery from an extremely talented author. As I read, I called out to my husband, “I figured it out on page 20!” and I was WRONG SO WRONG. I loved all the different layers of mysteries and secrets, and how they were masterfully woven together. It only took me two sittings to finish this book; I just had to know how it ended! Karen really keeps you guessing with all the red herrings, but they’re not just red herrings for the sake of red herrings—there are so many interconnected mysteries that they each serve their own purpose. And that last line? *CHILLS!*
It wasn’t as intense as One of Us is Lying. Something was amiss and I can’t put my finger on it. Maybe a story was a bit predictable. Less twists? Not as many secrets that make you question everyone and everything? Overall, it’s a good book, but not great.
AMAZING!!! I couldn’t put it down!
3.75 stars This was gripping enough for me to read it in one day. And despite the glaring and obvious problems with this authors other work, I liked that one better. For a YA thriller/mystery, I didn’t see the ending coming. I think this author really knows how to play the old switcheroo quite well. The characters were likeable enough, but the side characters were almost completely irrelevant unless it furthered the plot. So there’s that, I suppose. At the end of the day, this did what it needed to do and since it’s been too long since I read a YA anything, it was nice to let my brain not think for a while.
I really enjoyed this story, maybe even more than One of Us Is Lying. The characters seemed more unique in this one, not trying so hard to fit the different cliques of hs kids. I also loved that there were multiple mysteries to solve. What happened to the aunt? What happened to Lacey? What happened to… you get the idea. By the end I had pretty well put together what had happened but that didn’t stop a cold shiver from going down my spine at those last words. Another great read.
This story kept me interested with twists but wasn’t too complicated to follow. I liked that there was more than one mystery from Ellery’s perspective. It was a fun high school drama kind of thriller.
What the heck?? The ending threw me again! Karen McManus has an element of surprise and horror that stays with me long after the book is finished. I was not even CLOSE to figuring out who the killer was! I felt proud of myself when she finally brought up my theory, but it was shot down so quickly that I got whiplash. Such enthralling books to read!
Great book!
Great read! There are some swear words, so just be mindful of that. There was also a great plot twist.
** spoiler alert ** I did really like this book, but the end, I love it. But I’m not sure I really understand it. I’m almost there but…what? DO tell. Please explain. Thanks.
9.4/10

Another great thriller from Karen McManus, packed with nonstop action, great characters, and a twist to the ending that will knock your socks off! Highly recommend!
I loved this book. I kept twisting and turning and I could never see the next thing coming. Highly recommend!!!!!
I utterly loved this book. I read this after reading One of us is lying and OMG Karen McManus doesn’t disappoint. She creates a realistic world with unpredictable plot twists. This has to be one of the best teenage crime novels I have ever read. Loved this book and can’t wait for more books for her!!!!!
I read this whole book in one day because it really is just THAT good. From the character development to the plot that just keeps on brewing, the whole book keeps you on your toes and you cant put it down. Two words to describe this book would be absolute insanity.
I read Karen M. McManus’s first book and was excited to read her second novel. This one follows some high school students in a small town, Echo Ridge, VT. The town has known tragedy multiple times. First, Sarah Corcoran goes missing, then Lacey is found dead, and now there is a threat for a 3rd girl to go missing.
Malcolm has recently moved with his mother to a big house, since Malcolm’s mom has remarried, to the town’s successful lawyer, Peter. Peter’s daughter, Katrin, is one of the most popular girls at school. She is part of a trio-Katrin, Brooke, and Viv.
Malcolm’s older brother, Declan, has been under suspicion for the murder of Lacey, but never charged. Malcolm doesn’t know what to think. His only friend is Mia, an edgy girl in his class. Two new teens arrive in town – Ellery and Ezra Corcoran, who are twins, and the niece and nephew of the missing Sarah. Sadie (their mother) and Sarah are twins, and Sadie isn’t able to bring herself to talk to her children about Sarah. Sadie is in rehab, so the twins were sent to live with their grandmother. The teens, Malcolm, the twins, and Mia, become friends and try to tackle the mystery of the missing girls.
I suspected the killer pretty early on, but wasn’t prepared for the explosive last page. Wow. I also wasn’t sure about the vandal, and why, but it made sense.
I am looking forward to more from Ms. McManus!
