The highly anticipated conclusion to the Monsters in the Dark series, complete at 175,000 words.
“After battling through hell, I brought my esclave back from the brink of ruin. I sacrificed everything—my heart, my mind, my very desires to bring her back to life. And for a while, I thought it broke me, that I’d never be the same. But slowly the beast is growing bolder, and it’s finally time to … time to show Tess how beautiful the dark can be.”
Q gave everything to bring Tess back. In return, he expects nothing less. Tess may have leashed and tamed him, but he’s still a monster inside.

OMG! What a book! Never have I cried so much when reading a book. Very well written and the story just grabs you. I definitely would recommend this series. I just love Pepper Winters! Hope you all enjoy this series! It just takes you all the way. The story is so painful at times but worth the read!
Twisted Together is the perfect book to end this trilogy. I am aware that there is a follow up story available, but Tess and Q’s journey is told over the first three books…. and what a story it is!
I absolutely adore Tess and Q together. They couldn’t be more suited for each other. It was lovely to witness their relationship develop throughout this instalment of the trilogy and to see how much they are willing to go through for their soulmate.
One of the things I loved about Twisted Together was the unexpected (for me) revelation following those scenes when Q was trying to help Tess through the aftermath of her ordeal. I had been so focused on Tess and her turmoil and emotions, that when Q revealed what he was able to take from this, I was stunned that I hadn’t thought to consider how much he was learning about his own darkness. As I said, I loved this! Oh, and I have one word for that epilogue….. incredible!!
I am going to struggle to rate this book because I have conflicting feelings about it. I absolutely loved every moment when there were things happening to/with Tess and Q. I adored the times when scenes had me holding my breath and when I couldn’t read quickly enough to discover how that part of the storyline was going to conclude. BUT then there were times when I really wanted to skim the pages because although we were learning more about Tess and Q as a couple, the pace was too slow and I really wanted to speed up to those heart in the mouth moments that were unputdownable! There was so much excitement to be had and yet in between those moments I felt it took a little too long to get to the next thrilling scene. Twisted Together is a big book, and personally I would have liked the story to have been condensed.
I highly recommend this series to all readers who enjoy their romance on the darker side. There are scenes that I found difficult to read but were written brilliantly for this trilogy and are necessary to give the reader a greater understanding. I award Twisted Together 4 stars. I am really looking forward to reading Je Suis a Toi and seeing how the couple have moved forward. I wish them both the happiness and success they truly deserve.
Oh my goodness. While the second book had a lot of emotions, they were mostly of dread. This one has sadness, brokenness, healing, hope, and the ending was magical. I remember reading a post on social media where a lady who’s husband is in politics assured my poor, small-town, classless “bimbo” friend that sex trafficking was not a real thing. I can’t imagine what it’s like to have a platform and have a voice to help others and then deny the existence of monsters. But then, after the past four years, I’m not surprised. Off of my soap box.
I loved this trilogy. I read the Dollars series and Q makes an appearance and now I see the significance. I love the big bad anti-hero who thinks he’s a bad person and doesn’t realize the good they do, and Q fits that perfectly. I never get frustrated with Tess and wish she was stronger. She has so much fight in her and I wish she was a real person to see the changes she makes in the world.
Ooh, this book was the most agonizing of the series for me. Q and Tess were so close to their happy ever after and it kept getting ripped away. I wanted to cry. I wanted to scream. I wanted to throw my kindle across the room. I was so satisfied with the way this story played out. Every single thing that happened led to an epic conclusion to an amazing series.
I can’t begin to explain how much I enjoyed taking the time to re-read the Monsters in the Dark series after all this time. It’s given me the chance to fall in love with Q all over again. What I found so intriguing was the fact that I read this story like it was new. I forgot so many of the details that it really was like reading this series for the first time.
So here’s what happened…
Tess was blissfully happy with Brax. Or so she thought. Away on vacation in Mexico, she was kidnapped, brutalized, tormented and trafficked. Destined to be a slave, she lucked out when her new owner turned out to be Q. Not only was he unlike all the monsters she’d already met, he was unlike any man she’d ever known. He was a monster in his own right, but his beast called to her in a way that answered all of her unasked questions. He sent her home. She came back. And they should have lived in happiness. But she was taken again, Q rescued her, but she was broken to a point where no one knew how to heal her. Then Q made the ultimate sacrifice and she was back. However, their happiness was stilted because all of the bad guys wanted to take out the hero to slaves everywhere. Too bad the bad guys didn’t realize the monster Tess had become.
While this book wasn’t as neat or as fluid as the books that came before, it was necessary. How else would we get to see Tess come into her own? I’m still not her biggest fan and I don’t understand why Q had to come off so psychotic and abusive, but aside from that, I needed this book. It tied everything up into a nice little bow and gave me a glimpse into the true happiness this couple deserved.
OMG! This may have been the ending to Q and Tess’s story but what a story!! It was so dark and mentally twisted and disturbing yet full of love and oh so sexy!! I couldn’t help but cry at the end. My heart was so full! Pepper Winters is a phenomenal writer! She knows how to twist your mind right up. She’s definitely one of my favorite authors!
Pussnbooks.net Reviewing the darkest erotic books we can find.
So this is the third and final book in the Monsters in the Dark series and I have to admit, I’m gonna miss these guys. What an adventure!
This book was absolutely packed with action and suspense pretty much right from the beginning and I loved it. It was a wild ride y’all.
I found myself thinking about Franco quite a bit this time too. There is something delicious about this man and he quite obviously has similar demons to Q. I’ll be honest, I wouldn’t mind if he had his own book…hint, hint Ms Winters.
TESS – Och…poor Tess! She was up, she was down, she was in, she was out and none of it in the way I would have liked. She tried so hard to get over all of the nasty s**t that messed with her head in the last few months, and to a point, Q had helped get her there.
But the thing is, the HEA I thought they had at the end of book two was torn apart horribly!
She lied to him and he had no idea.
She struggles with these awful memories every day and it messes up everything that they had going on in the bedroom. She just can’t stand pain anymore and is trying desperately to hide it from Q.
“Then it hit me. The truth. The truth Tess had tried so hard to hide and by doing so fed the demons inside. She no longer wanted pain. The jitters stopped, leaving me freezing cold and numb. She doesn’t want what I do anymore”. – Q
When the truth comes out both of their worlds are shattered. Q realises that he almost went beyond the point of no return with Tess during one of their sessions and it chills him to the bone.
Both are broken-hearted but Q has an idea of how he could possibly fix everything. It’s extremely risky and unconventional but Tess is so in love with him and desperate to hold onto what they have that she agrees to his plan.
I’m not going to say too much about this plan or how it affects both of them as it would give away too much of the story but I will say that it doesn’t end there. Even more sordid muckery is afoot and Tess’s strength and sanity are both tested to the max.
Q – I am so glad that we get to see things from Q’s POV again in this book. His mind is something I very much enjoyed delving into.
He is trying so hard to give Tess everything she needs to heal. He does all he can but still doesn’t realise how broken she actually is.
After she gives him complete control one night in an attempt to make him happy, he almost goes too far. And if he had? It would have broken him. He’s torn apart that she lied to him and feels that he can never trust her again.
“I howled silently, slamming the cage into place, locking it forever. Never again would I let myself be swayed. Never again would I believe what Tess said. Lies had the power to tear apart a relationship—it also had the power to kill. How much further would I have gone? I never wanted to know the answer.” – Q
In a desperate attempt to either fix them or feck them up forever he puts together a messed up plan. This plan takes him to the very edge of his control and he has an extremely hard time not breaking her completely like the monster inside keeps tempting him to do.
When it was all over, I let out a huge breath of air that I didn’t realise I was holding but…not for long as things get even worse for them!
OMG, just when things were starting to get better, fate once again says “Nah, just kidding” and stirs up some s**t.
This man’s morals were almost enough to have him killed on the spot at one point and I was literally like “Just let her suck your d**k for f**k’s sake!” (you’ll understand this when you get to about halfway through, lol).
Q’s character, patience, strength and love is tested to the max in this book and all I can say is Wow, Pepper Winters, *stands up and applauses*.
SEX SCENES – Once again the sex scenes in this book were freakin’ lit! Super hot and left me gasping.
FINAL THOUGHTS – While I enjoyed this book and the HAE they thoroughly deserved, I felt it wasn’t quite as good as the second book.
I was ready for it to end and while I certainly wasn’t unhappy with it or bored at all, It didn’t call to me the way the second book did.
One thing that had me screwing up my face a little though was the stunt that Suzette and Frederick pulled at their wedding. It was…odd, to say the least, and for some reason just didn’t sit right with me. Not because I’m a traditional wedding type of gal, not at all. It just seemed like a very strange thing to do. I do get it, kind of, but just not what I thought fitted if you get me?
So, yeah it was a nice ending for them and well-timed.
As Tess, herself said, “Everyone needs a Q”.
4 STARS
The Best Wedding Ever I never want this story to end these 2 and all they been through. Love isnt always pretty . They have overcome so much and still stronger than ever. They are so meant for each other.
True rating 4.5.
Loved this book.
This series is worth so much more than 5 stars. Pepper Winters writes dark romance like no other. Her stories are captivating, her words endearing and her style is profound and beautiful. Her books stay with you and leave their mark on your soul.
Twisted together is a raw, unique and enticing story. The depth to which this author goes to describe and develop her characters, even the secondary characters is astounding. I have previously compared Peppers writing to a fine wine, you just want to saviour and taste every word she writes. Her writing inspires me and I am just left wanting more. Q Mercer has fast become a firm favourite in the many male dominant alpha characters I have read, he is like nothing you have or ever will read. The transformation of Tess Snow from book one to three is prolific; she becomes stronger, more determined.
I cannot praise this series highly enough. Definitely a top read for 2017 for me
