This story had me hooked from the start. I could not put it down and I read it in one sitting. I’m still in a book coma from it and I’m having serious book withdrawal. I don’t know how Felicity Brandon keeps writing such amazing stories. She is a true goddess whose creativity I so enjoy indulging in, my most favorite guilty pleasure. In her latest book Twisted I found her characters highly compelling, moving and extremely sexy. I fell in love with Marius and Jenny and I think you will too. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I hope Felicity will write a sequel to it because I can’t get the story out of my head.
Hmm I’m thinking that Mrs. Brandon has spoiled me with her darkness. Don’t get me wrong Marius has it but not as much as I would have love him to be. But overall it was a pleasure and interested read it did have it twisted moments like wanted to be someone that you definitely are not but it had it’s happy ending at least for Marius and Jenny. I hope we get the opportunity to read more of the Doms of Dukes.
I’ve been reading Felicity Brandon’s books for a while now but this was my first reading experience with Lily Harlem. Both of these authors clicked together when it came to this book. They did excellent work, and I hope they continue in another collaboration. I started this story and finished it the same day. I was drawn in and held captive until I found out how this was going to end. I enjoyed every chapter.
This is the story of Jenny Nixon, a woman soon to be deceived by a gorgeous man she can’t help but fall in love with. He is perfect for her in every way and his attraction to her is intense. But, this gorgeous man is not at all who he professes to be. He has stolen the identity of his long-lost twin and has inserted himself into Jenny’s life in that guise. He’s actually rather ruthless in this regard. The story unfolds from there and it unfolds quite well, I must say.
I love books that take me away for a while, that hold my attention to the point that nothing else filters into consciousness but the mental movie created by the written word. That is what this book did. It’s a really good read. Highly recommended.
This story sucked me in, kept me hostage, and hang really let up since. I couldn’t put my thoughts into words about this story, as it was unlike anything like I’ve read before. The plot is amazing, and all that I can say without spoiling smoothing is you need to read this!!!
Loved this book: the plot, the characters, the writing.
Everything comes together perfectly, each scene just clicks into place like pieces of a puzzle, the reader is transitioned so smoothly along each section of the journey & there is nothing to jar the reader out of the story (thank goodness!!).
The authors give us 3 characters, Dmitri (H), Marius (anti-H) & Jenny (h). And the intersection of their paths brings huge repercussions to all 3 that deeply impact their present & into their potential future(s).
And I found myself quickly drawn into the story, intrigued by & invested in all 3 characters. The authors writing skill (IMO) is like a fog that flows softly over & around you, gentle & delicate until you realize you are delightfully surrounded by the plot & carried enthusiastically along for the ride.
There is sizzling heat, dark betrayal, danger, tension, suspense & romance. But the reader isn’t sure until the very end exactly who will triumph.
A superb thrilling read I enjoyed immensely to the last word & I HIGHLY recommend for those who enjoy intense steamy sizzle with suspenseful tension.
Wow, wow, wow! This book was just fantastic! I absolutely loved the plot. Intriguing, different, engaging. Oh my Marius! Hot, bad, alpha male! How could Jenny continue to want him? To find out what I mean, you definitely want to read this book. I could not put it down.
Finding out that you are a twin and now you want to make him pay,wow what a roller coaster ride of emotions. I was hooked from the first chapter. I can’t wait for more from The Doms Of Dukes.
The twists this story line takes will keep you on the edge of your seat and glued to the pages. Or maybe it will be the attraction and heat level between Marius and Jenny. Either way, you won’t want to put this one down. It’s not one of those stories where you are sure which way the story is going from the beginning. Instead, you are swept up into this journey of secrets, lies, jealousy, hatred, and vengeance. Jenny is a very likable character, the men on the other hand are a little harder for me to get behind. It didn’t bother me enough to affect the rating of the story since the reason I read is to escape from all reality, but there are some personality traits that might make some readers struggle.
Now for a confession… I’m one of those readers who, if I know the book is a collaboration, I will try really hard to guess which author wrote which parts. I know it’s annoying, but I still do it. I have read many books by both of these authors and figured I would be able to tell who wrote what, but I was wrong. The story flows so beautifully that I couldn’t tell. And after a while I got so sucked in that I didn’t care. Let go of all conceptions and just slip into this passionate story. I promise you won’t be disappointed.
Well done!
Two men who share identical genetics but who have lived vastly different lives.
There is envy, deception, manipulation, lies, seduction, intruige, shattered lives and so many other elements in this story that form this twisted triad.
A gripping well written story !
This has been a hard review to write. I don’t like having to give it 3 stars. I’ve tossed and turned over it. So here I go….
The bones of the story are good. I love these authors. The writing flowed well between them. But I felt that the plot and characters needed more depth and development. Something was just missing for me. Can’t quite put my finger on it.
The BDSM scenes were most definitely hot!! Had to go splash cold water on my face.
This was a very well written book, you couldn’t really tell it was written by 2 authors, it flowed that smoothly. It was hot and steamy and held some suspense. Its not one of my favorites by this author, but I think that’s because I found myself disliking one of the characters. I enjoyed it enough that I will however be waiting to see whats next in this series
This story certainly is twisty and emotional. If you have read any of Ms. Brandon’s recent series you know that she has recently loved to torture readers with morally questionable characters… characters very difficult to like. And Marius is very easy to hate. Of course both Ms. Brandon and Ms. Harlem write books that have a very HIGH HEAT factor… so this one is sexy AF. But hold onto your couch, because this story is pretty crazy. It is way more emotional than I expected. My feelings took a roller coaster ride. I had a lot of mixed feelings about the ending. But while I was not sure about the ending, I am sure that I would definitely recommend this book. This is a GREAT READ.
I’m so torn on how to rate this one, really torn
I’m going to start with the positives because the reason I didn’t love this book was personal preference. So many others have loved the book that it really was a case of this one just didn’t work for me. There are just so many good elements in this story that I’m sad I didn’t enjoy it more.
The writing is excellent, the prose flows smoothly and is so easy to read and follow. The descriptions were enough to set the scene without being overly flowery or distracting. The dialogue was natural and I really liked Jenny. She is a woman unafraid of her sexuality and uncaring of a judgemental society.
Then there is the BDSM element, which is incredibly dirty, naughty and sweaty. Wow those scenes will leave you all hot and bothered. These two authors certainly have *ahem* creative imaginations (or very filthy significant others!). Very powerful scenes. The chemistry between the couple was scorching and totally convincing. I definitely felt Jenny’s emotions both during her time in Dubai and when she had returned home.
Now it’s very difficult to give the reason why I just didn’t totally gel with the story without giving away spoilers, which I will put at the bottom of this review. It includes which twin Jenny ends up with! What I can say (because it’s in the blurb) was that I found Marius’ reason for wanting to replace his brother to be childish and selfish. I’d hoped to be persuaded that there was some hidden justification for his actions. If the story had been written with a darker edge I also might have felt differently. I needed him to make some reparation, undergo counselling or do something that demonstrated a desire to change.
So despite this being ‘just’ an OK read for me I do think most people would actually enjoy the story. I do still recommend giving it a try.
*****spoiler*****
I really couldn’t like or respect Marius, with his pathetic and unjust decision to kill his innocent twin brother. If Marius had been written as a dark anti-hero I probably would have gotten behind him, but this wasn’t the case. As a very character driven read, this left me disconnected from the story. It’s silly because I can get behind a bad guy in an MC, mafia or dark romance, so I just don’t know why I couldn’t in this book. However I didn’t respect him so I couldn’t picture him as either the hero or a trustworthy Dom. I also felt that he didn’t earn Jenny’s forgiveness, though this wasn’t such a big problem.
OMG! I devoured this book!
Jenny is in love. But who is she in love with? She began dating Dimitri a handsome rich workaholic who on their first occasion in bed was really quite vanilla. Later the Dimitri she joins in Dubai is dominating and takes her to the edge bringing to life all of her fantasies. Little does she know that this man who made such a complete turn around is not Dimitri but his long lost, jealous and a little bitter twin brother Marius. He wants everything Dimitri has including Jenny, but is it all just a game for him? Does he truly have feelings for Jenny? And what will happen when the truth comes to light? Can Jenny ever forgive his deception? I devoured this book because once I started I simply could not put it down!!
I think the name for this book is so appropriate! Marius is a bit twisted. But he is so very yummy as well!
He is jealous of his brother. Of his wealth and how he grew up never wanting. But Marius also has his own connections in high places as well. And he uses these connections to help him take his brothers place. Which leads to him and Jenny exploring each other and starting to develop feelings.
I loved how yummy the scenes were between Marius and Jenny. I felt bad for Dimitri. He felt a connection with Jenny, but he ended up having his brother take his place. I loved how things ended up. And I can’t wait to see what happens next in this series!
felicity Brandon has done it again with the book twisted!! delve into the devious world of BDSM except the woman you are with thinks you are Dimitri Henderson not his twin brother marius. Marius plots to steal everything away from his twin brother that he finds out he has as done Dimitri. The only problem is that Dimitri is not aware of this brother until its to late and marius takes over his life along with his girl Jenny. This was given to me as an ARC so I am not saying more but this book is a def. must read and felicity Brandon has done it again. To me this book was one I could not put down until the very end!!
I’ll start my review with what I liked first.
I thought Ms. Brandon and Ms. Harlem did an excellent job with the writing.
It flowed very well and hard to tell that two authors co-wrote this book.
The BDSM part of the story was sexy and sensual.
It was hot and the connection between the two was sizzling.
As far as the characters go I liked Dimitri.
He was a good man. Worked hard. And he was honorable.
Through no fault of his own a twin brother he never even knew exited is out for revenge on him.
What was done to Dimitri was horrific!
I liked Jenny through the whole book until almost the end.
She was a strong woman and I admired that she own what she needed in a relationship.
But all that went out the window when she made her decision at the end.
I thought her choice made her shallow and lacking.
I don’t care how good the sex is.
When you lose your perceptive on all the wrong that was done and what the outcome could have lead to. Yet you chose an evil man that can never be trusted again there is something wrong with you.
You can forgive someone but that doesn’t equate to trusting that person.
Now for Marius.
I thought he was despicable.
What he planned, plotted and carried out was cruel and meant to cause extreme pain and suffering.
Marius was petty and to me a bit crazy.
He never even gave Dimitri a chance to see what kind of man he was.
I kept hoping even until the last page that I would find that he was truly sorry but it never happened.
He wasn’t sorry for what he had done. And he felt no remorse.
For me Marius had no redeeming qualities nor any honor.
Such an accurate title! This book is definitely twisted. And with out giving to much away I will say that I would of liked to see more of the twins and Jenny together. Versus mainly just Jenny and Marius pretending to be Dimitri. Personally it read more as a love story between Jenny and Marius with Marius keeping a secret then them making a relationship work with the aftermath of his secret. I really liked the epilogue and would of liked to of see that go into a little more depth with Marius and jenny’ relationship as I felt it left things rather open needed and like there should of been more. Not sure how this is going to be a series though as I’m not sure what other drama could come up between Marius and dimitri. If you like kinky suspenseful books then this is right up your alley!
Felicity Brandon is one of my go to authors. She is one of the best at dark and twisted. This a different dark and twisted from her other books but I loved it all the same and once you pick it up it’ll be hard to put it down. This the first I’ve heard of Lily Harlem but I will be looking for more of her books now.
Twisted – yes, it really was.
Dimitri and Marius was separated as kids. They are twins, and are copies of each others on the outside, but so different in personalities.
Both meet Jenny…
Both want Jenny!
Who does Jenny want?
I was captured by the story from the beginning, both of the flow of the story and by the characters. The Dubai part was intense, but I would have liked to see a little bit more of Dimitri.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
