Lucas Davenport confronts an old nemesis, now a powerful U.S. senator, in this thrilling #1 New York Times-bestselling new novel in the Prey series.Lucas Davenport had crossed paths with her before.A rich psychopath, Taryn Grant had run successfully for the U.S. Senate, where Lucas had predicted she’d fit right in. He was also convinced that she’d been responsible for three murders, though he’d … she’d been responsible for three murders, though he’d never been able to prove it. Once a psychopath had gotten that kind of rush, though, he or she often needed another fix, so he figured he might be seeing her again.
He was right. A federal marshal now, with a very wide scope of investigation, he’s heard rumors that Grant has found her seat on the Senate intelligence committee, and the contacts she’s made from it, to be very…useful. Pinning those rumors down was likely to be just as difficult as before, and considerably more dangerous.
But they had unfinished business, he and Grant. One way or the other, he was going to see it through to the end.

Love all of the Sanford books
Typical Lucas Davenport tale. I have never found one that I don’t thoroughly enjoy. Somewhat predictable, but to some degree the predictability in enjoyable. Lucus’ new role seems somewhat fanciful.
Sandford has been running several characters for decades now but he keeps them fresh and moving through new plots and territories with ease. I enjoy watching the Davenport detective change as life does and acknowledge his aging but staying in the game because it’s what he does.
An exceptional Prey story. I like Lucas as a US Marshall!
Great book. Love this author. You can always depend on his books to be page turners
A Great Read!
Sanford’s books are always fun to read!
Love all of the Lucas Davenport series!!
Prey series is the best.
Loved this book. I read all of Sanford’s books and haven’t read a bad one yet.
I love the Lucas Davenport ‘Prey’ series. Black humour. Lots of action, set in the midwest. Reminds me of Fargo, the movie.
Great Lucas Davenport book. It’s a rare author that can keep their series engaging and building. Sandford does this with Davenport & Flowers, Connelly does it with Harry Bosch, Louise Penney does it with Gamache. The plot & pace were excellent – Lucas was back in his element, his wife was in the mix and an old nemesis was behind it all. Was justice served? You’ll have to see!
One of, if not the best book, Sandford has written.
Love Lucas!
vintage Prey stuff. not as good as the best in this series, but still well done.
Great book.
His Prey series is great!
I read every book that is written by Sanford and preorder them. The entire Prey series is excellent. My favorite Sanford character is Virgle Flowers but will buy anything Sanford publishes.
You can’t go wrong with anything written by John Sandford and this one is no exception.
I’ve read all his novels, and Lucas Davenport is like an old friend. John Sanford has never disappointed me. Enjoy!
