Lucas Davenport confronts an old nemesis, now a powerful U.S. senator, in this thrilling #1 New York Times-bestselling new novel in the Prey series.Lucas Davenport had crossed paths with her before.A rich psychopath, Taryn Grant had run successfully for the U.S. Senate, where Lucas had predicted she’d fit right in. He was also convinced that she’d been responsible for three murders, though he’d … she’d been responsible for three murders, though he’d never been able to prove it. Once a psychopath had gotten that kind of rush, though, he or she often needed another fix, so he figured he might be seeing her again.
He was right. A federal marshal now, with a very wide scope of investigation, he’s heard rumors that Grant has found her seat on the Senate intelligence committee, and the contacts she’s made from it, to be very…useful. Pinning those rumors down was likely to be just as difficult as before, and considerably more dangerous.
But they had unfinished business, he and Grant. One way or the other, he was going to see it through to the end.

Awesome
John Sanford never disappoints. When I start these books I am just amazed at how the plot begins to come to life. I have to say that this book had an exceptionally good ending and leaves you wondering about Lucas. I always recommend these books.
If you liked Sandford’s other “Prey” novels, you are pretty much guaranteed to like this one, too.
If you’ve never read any of the Prey novels, but enjoy crime/police procedurals, I highly recommend Sandford. But I wouldn’t start with the 28th book in the series; you’d be missing a lot of back story. (You can still enjoy this book without all the back story but if you decide to go back and read earlier ones there will be some inevitable spoilers.) At the very least, read “Silken Prey” first since this one is a direct follow-up to that. Better yet, start at the beginning and work your way through them. You’re in for a treat.
5 star
Love all of John Sanford’s books! Suspenseful and characters are great!
Long time fan of John Sanford and this did not disappoint. Taryn Grant vs Lucas Davenport and his fellow marshals make a formidable team. Can’t wait for the next one,
Great read
I love anything John Sanford writes, I haveread every book he has authored. This was not his best work. It was slow and hard to keep my interest even past page
200. His books have always been a page turner, but I struggled with this one
Love all the Prey series
Absolutely my favorite crime writer. I have ready Lucas Davenport book and I appreciate how the characters lives change during the series. Well written.
Mr. Sandford writes action and dialogue which make his novels so accessible that even on the first page, I feel as if I am immersed in an alternate reality with the vivid characters during their thrill rides across Minnesota. I cannot imagine very many other experiences that are as satisfying as reading one of John’s novels!
Good Read. Davenport is an interesting character. But for some real fun, try Sandford’s Virgil Flowers character. He’s a hoot. Read them all and enjoyed them all.
Love the Prey series Lucas Davenport is a very likeable character, these books keep the adrenaline on high.
I really like Patterson’s books with Lucas Davenport.
Ever-reliable Sandford gives us another Lucas Davenport twister.
Who doesn’t like Lucas Davenport!
Just like all his books, complicated, and with very interesting characters and plots.
This was just another in a long series of great books by this believable author. He write as though you are in the story.
I love the Prey series. Davenport is a character that gets the job done.
John Sanford never disappoints me! I’ve read every single book – some twice!
