“Marisa peered down the stairs, toward the street, at the sidewalk. Her sister and her daughter had been there just a moment before. They should have been staring back up at her, waving, smiling. Twisted Lies is the second book in this series by Robin Patchen which I have read. I really enjoyed the story. There were plenty of plot twists, lots of suspense, and some lost sleep on my part since I had trouble putting it down. The characters were believable; I could almost feel their pain and turmoil at times. There are times when no answer is the perfect answer; how we make those choices and the consequences they hold can be troubling. I felt the author did a wonderful job showing the conflicting thoughts and emotions of the characters.
The only reason I did not give this a 5-star rating is because of the use of a word I feel should not be in a Christian book. I realize it may seem petty, but, as a Christian, I read Christian books so I don’t have to worry about content or the words being used. Seeing it used here was a jarring surprise. Other than that, I wholeheartedly recommend this book!
Great read
The suspenseful plot kept me on the edge of my seat, and the characters are interesting and well-developed. Some of the language is rough, although there is an element of faith included.
This novel grabbed me from the beginning and did not want to stop reading. Marisa’s fiance gets murdered. Money from a business goes missing and the FBI are looking at Marisa. Marisa also is afraid she will be killed by the same person that killed her fiance. She is in hiding for 8 years. Her sister, Leslie, enlists Nate to try to find her sister. This is a page turning thrill ride from start to finish.
Fabulous characters and unguessable ending! I didn’t get much sleep until I finished this book!
Her first ‘Lie’ series book was unforgettable! This one is just as good! Can’t wait to read more!
Clean, classy, plot twists, characters you want as your friends (the good guys!), places you want to visit and live!
Robin includes it all.
Loved it
This whole Nutfield series is very hard to put down….
Robin Patchen does not disappoint in this second (stand alone) book, some of the major characters are a part of this plot with Nate becoming the focus. Refreshing to have a group of friends who stick close in good times and bad – as well as praying during the difficult times. Nate is a reluctant hero, still suffering from PTSD, but he has learned to take one step at a time and to keep looking for the truth as he helps Marissa find her daughter. Lots of complex characters and twists and turns which made it impossible to put down this book. Can’t wait to begin the next book in this series.
Suspense shapes this romantic clean mystery. Nate’s compassion and heroics add to my enjoyment of this engrossing tale. The characters are more solid in this second book in the series. Fraud, murder, theft and the precious, pajarita, Ana all make for an exciting read.
I liked the plot and characters because they were complex, yet straight forward. The dialog was realistic without the four letter words and graphic sex. This was refreshing. I thought the author wrote a very well plot and her characters fell in place as it goes to the end. Recommend this read.
I found this book full of twists & turns trying to figure out who stole the money, who has little Anna & whether there will be a happy ending. I never would have guessed who one of the kidnappers was nor that that person would get killed. The second kidnapper was surprise #2. Then the person with the money was the third surprise. I think it is a well written mystery. I was given a free copy by the author. This is my voluntary review.
I loved the book, it is very good, the people are great if you like suspense and second chances you will like the book
Left with no options but to run Marissa does that and more when she lands in a town in Mexico. She thinks she is safe that is until betrayal of the deepest kind rocks her to the core. Nate is still reeling from his trauma and dealing with the emotional recovery when he gets drawn back in to Marissa’s situation. This is their story. It is twisted full of lies and misdirection. Yup this author doesn’t play around. The action and deception cut deep and the answers are not as cut and dry as it’s portrayed.
This standalone read is full of action and suspense and a clean read. The characters grab a hold of you and don’t let go. There are carry over characters and a host of friends and love ones willing to do whatever is needed to get the job done. Awesome read.
Marisa is been hiding in Mexico for eight years but when her sister Leslie and Nate Boyle, the journalist that helped her to take down the people that killed her boyfriend Vinnie when he contacted the FBI to come clean about a fraud, contact her she can’t stay away and she mets them in Acapulco. But the Ana, Marisa’s daughter and Leslie are kidnapped and in other to have them back Marisa and Nate must find the money that disappeared eight years ago. Nate, Rae, Brady, Sam and Garrison Koop, the ex-FBI agent that worked in Vinnie’s case, will help Marisa solve the mystery of the money and bring back her daughter. A very emotional book.
