With Twisted Fates, Kitty Thomas is at her best, creating an intensely emotional dark ride you won’t want to get off! This book was hot, twisted, dark – everything a dark reader would want. The character were multifaceted and real, and I couldn’t help but gobble it up! Highly recommend!
Master, yes please
As my first Kitty Thomas book, I can say I’m in awe and shock. Awe of the naughty and enticing stoey and shock that I hadn’t read her books sooner. Thouvh, I have many on my TBR this was my cherry popping experience.
What a way to start! Twisted Fates is a guilty pleasure and dark romance lover dalliance. My inner grewdy girl wanted a whole lot more Master time…you’ll understand when you get there.
Loved it. This book teetered on the edge of wrong and definitely strayed into the realms of morally dubious.
Be careful reading reviews as there is a hidden twist in this book that really is best read ‘blind’. I’m not going to refer to it again but be VERY careful of others providing unintentional spoilers!!! My other warning is that once I started reading this I couldn’t put it down until I’d finished it, regardless of the time of night or the fact I should be working.
Even though there are previous books in the series, this was 100% readable as a stand alone story. Indeed I have at least one other Pleasure House book on my kindle but read this as the BOTM over in the Dark Erotica group. There wasn’t one instance of me struggling to understand or follow the book, and spoilers were really kept to a minimum too.
Kitty Thomas wrote an amazing story, one that constantly reminded me Lyndsay wasn’t all that much of a good guy. Just as I’d start viewing him as a hero, she’d throw in a quick reminder of his sins. This book took us on a journey of finding the path between what is good and righteous, and what a soul needs to flourish and grow. Shannon needs to be owned, she craves the security that comes with knowing she has a master to make the tough decisions for her.
Giving up her freedom and independence to be the property of someone feels so wrong but you can also see that it is the only way she can ever be happy. My heart and mind battled around this one so much, but in the very best of ways. I found myself dwelling in the grey zone of dubious consent and consensual non-consent, and boy I loved every moment of it. It was little easy-to-miss touches, like her freedom on Fridays, that really bought this home.
Shannon and Lyndsay have the most unconventional of relationships. Their history is littered with heart ache, pain, regret and sorrow and yet together they are perfection. With a chemistry that is off the charts, the author treats us to some delightfully depraved and blisteringly hot kink scenes between this pair.
I loved how this pair loved, with a quiet fierceness, though I did get quite worried at one point that the author was going to take it all away from me. However through loving Lyndsay, Shannon found the strength she’d previously lacked. The strength to make the toughest of decisions and to fight for the future she wanted.
I can’t recommend this book enough. It dabbles in darkness without going too far, it will mess with your head repeatedly and it is so hot it puts the sun to shame. I just need to read the rest of them now.
Twisted Fate, Kitty Thomas’ latest novel, is a rich, lush story of a woman’s recovery from traumatic abuse, but not just her recovery. It is also the story of the recovery of the man she falls in love with, and how the two of them forge a new bond and relationship together. And in some additional spice to this mix, and this story twists and turns in some many delicious ways that the reader is kept edgy wondering if Shannon is going to be gifted with the life she’s always dreamt of, or if fate will take her down a completely different path.
Kitty Thomas builds such incredibly rich characters, and Twisted Fates is no different. Shannon is our main character here, and the trauma she has suffered through is devastating. But she finds herself being given a second chance at finding what she’s always desired, and that is with one of the people she least expected. Because discovering who it is, and how they both come to terms with the burgeoning relationship and all that it entails is such an integral part of the novel, I am not going to give away any spoilers here. One of the things I love about Ms. Thomas’ writing is the seamless way she draws you into the thoughts and feelings of the characters in such a way that seems neither forced nor contrived. You feel what they are feeling, and even if the situations are fantastical (because this is a fantasy of extremely wealthy men running a house that deals in certain illicit activities), they are never focused on or presented in a way that makes you loose your sense of verisimilitude. You easily accept and believe the world she has drawn, because the characters *make* you believe in them, simply by the power of their voices. That is one of the key aspects of her writing that makes this as powerful as it is.
Now, of course, there are some vibrantly drawn and hot AF sex scenes, make no mistake! But for this reader it was the interactions between the characters outside of the steamy sex that really drew me into the story and kept my attention focused. Dare I say that this is really a sweet, romantic love story? In a sense, yes. But the circumstances and locales certainly aren’t those one would associate with that particular genre, and—again—that is part of what makes this novel unique and engaging.
If you’ve read any of her other Pleasure House series books, you’ll see names here you’ll recognize and be familiar with. And if you loved any of those books, I’ve little doubt you’ll love this one too. And if you’ve NEVER read one of her books from the series, this one will be a perfect entré into the beautiful world she has created.
And I’m betting you are going to love it too.
This was a twisted, crazy read that sucked me in from the start. I have only read Broken Dolls in this series and its been a minute since I have read that one. I am definitely going to have to go back and start from book one. I know Kitty states these can be read as stand alones but I think they should all be read before you read this one. I can’t remember why Brian hated Lindsey and Shannon so much so I really wanted to throat punch him though out this book. I felt so sorry for Shannon, she was so lonely and depressed. I wasn’t sure how Lindsey knew Damian but I loved his character. I did understand why Lindsey brought him in and I think Damian really needed it also. I was glad to see they all three got a hmue (happy messed up ending). Thank you Kitty for the ARC and I will be going back and starting from the beginning. 🙂
If you’ve read Kitty Thomas before, you know her brand of dark romance. It’s hot and painful ending in unspeakable pleasure! TWISTED FATES is a stand alone in the House of Pleasure series. It was fun to see characters from the past and get to know a whole new side to Dr. Lindsey and Shannon. This story is everything you expect in a Kitty Thomas book. I love the way her characters transform. Be ready with an ice pack for your ereader and get started today. Twisted Fates is a must read.
My new favourite book from my favourite fiction writer (or equal favourite now, alongside Tabula Rasa by Kitty Thomas).
This is like the crowning glory of the Pleasure House series, and what’s also great about it is you don’t have to read through all the preceding books before diving straight into this one, as it’s written to be just as enjoyable as a standalone. This can actually be a good starting point for those new to Kitty Thomas’s work, as it’s like a showcase of her signature style while also being a gateway to a lot of her other works. Those familiar with the series will feel like they’ve come home and all their Christmases have come at once.
I loved everything in this book. It will have you feeling all the feels, from amusement to heartbreak and everything in between. The story becomes more and more wonderful as it progresses. It’s jam-packed with nuggets that will tickle your fancy. Electrifying sexual chemistry abounds.
Nobody writes sex like Kitty Thomas – the scenes are graphic yet classy, and she has the psychological side of it mastered, too, which makes them especially hot! As with any Kitty Thomas book, this one has an atmospheric quality to it, and it is like a work of art worth owning in hardcover as a collector’s piece.
LOVE LOVE LOVE her!!!
WOW Twisted Fates by Kitty Thomas is HOT HOT HOT! This is a stand alone, but if you’ve read another of the of the Pleasure House books, you’ll remember both Shannon and Lindsay. You also see several other characters here as they are important to this story. We also meet a new character Damian and oh Damian…
Shannon was close to death after being punished by Brian the house psychopath, but she was saved. It was decided she would not be able to be sold off with the damage he did to her, but she was put to work in the spa. Shannon blames Lindsay for this and has barely looked at him for years. After all these years of no real attention and not going anywhere, she is at her end, or so she thinks. It seems Lindsay has a sixth sense where she is concerned and boy does he do his best to change that.
This has become one of my favorite Kitty books! There is so much emotion in this book and it’s a roller coaster of WHAT, WHY and WHAT THE, and OH HELL YES! I don’t want to give anything away, but this was one incredible read and the only reason I didn’t finish in one sitting it because work got in the way… If you like dark reads, you’ll love this book!
Loved! Loved loved loved!
If you haven’t read this book or this series, I totally recommend them.
The story was great, the sex was steamy, and the writing was enjoyable.
I’d definitely read this again.
Twisted fates is the story we’ve been waiting for about Lindsay. I have mixed feelings on Lindsay. I’ve loved to hate him through the other books as he appeared off and on, always hoping we’d have the story which told us more about him and perhaps showed us more. In this book Kitty showed us so much more as Lindsay took up the case of Shannon, long serving resident of the house who really belonged to know and nothing after Brian showed her why it’s a bad idea of cross him.
These two together gave me such a roller coaster of emotions, reactions and feelings. I couldn’t put the book down, needing to see what came next. The ride was hot and twisted and yet another great example of why Kitty is a star in this genre. I think it might be one of Kitty’s best books to date, and for any fan of her writing or of this area of dark romance, I highly recommend it. One of the nice things about the Pleasure House series is they are stand alone books, so you can read them any way you like and won’t lose out on the story. I read mine in a very convoluted order, and still got all the history and drama of this house and these people with no difficulty. That’s so rare these days and I love it about her series.
WOW!! Absolutely Amazing, Brilliant and purely addictive!!
The most twisty, addictive and gripping installment in the Pleasure House world I’ve read, and it’s written with exquisite details, and bright descriptions to keep the reader hooked from start to end.
I can’t recommend this series highly enough. However, Twisted Fates is already one of my all-time favorites.
I… did not expect to want or need a book for Lindsay. I did not expect to NEED Lindsay at all. Damian is wonderful and sweet and everything you’d want in a master but Lindsay stole my ever loving heart and I wasn’t expecting that.
This has become by far my favorite book in Kitty’s arsenal. I’ve not read all of her books mind you but wow. This was wonderful.
I will be honest, I haven’t read a book by this author is a couple years now and now I sit here asking myself what is wrong with me?? This book like most of the books by this author is dark, twisted and oh so HOT!!!! Kitty’s writing is incredible and her characters are so well developed. The best way I can describe books by Kitty Thomas is that they make me feel uncomfortable, but in the best way EVER!!!! I would highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to go back and read the rest of the series as this book stands completely on it’s own in the series.
Absolutely incredible book!! It was darkly delicious and emotional. I immediately fell in move with Shannon and my heart ached for how broken she had become. I wasn’t sure how I felt about Lindsay at first but he really grew on me as the story progressed. This story took me on an intense emotional rollercoaster ride and I loved every minute of it.
This an honest ARC review. I highly recommend this book to anyone who loves the dark romance world and power exchange. Kitty Thomas does not disappoint as she spins this magical web of pleasure and pain that are the lives of Lindsay and Shannon, and then Lindsay, Shannon and Damien. This book took me on an emotional ride that offered suspense, happiness, pleasure, heartbreak, pain, and fantasy. It was an emotional roller coaster from page 1, I had to stop about 65% percent in to calm down and remind myself that these characters weren’t real, and that Kitty wouldn’t disappoint and leave Shannon more damaged than she was already. I loved the way that Shannon’s hatred for Lindsay quickly turned to a deep loyalty and love. I loved the way I fell in love with the house sociopath even more, when at first I thought I was gonna have hard feelings toward him. Other characters come to play in this story, Damien, an unknown to me and Quill from The Con Artist, known as Jacob Hunter in this book. I found him more lovable in this installment, and if you haven’t read The Con Artist I highly recommend it as well. I don’t want to leave spoilers because I want people to read the book, it’s not just a book to read, it’s an experience that needs to be experienced and appreciated. The blurb and her teasers that are easily found are description enough. This is one of Kitty’s best works, I’m still caught up in the emotional high of reading it.
I have hated Lyndsay since we first met him. Actually despised him kind of hated. I am torn as to my feelings about him right now. I still don’t particularly care for him, but… I dunno. I think he didn’t come off all that well at times. I don’t think he made the best choices for Shannon.
I have always felt sorry for Shannon. She had such a terrible thing happen and then she got stuck for 8 years. I don’t blame her for feeling the way that she does. I would totally feel the same way.
I really was just devastated by this book and all the feelz it drug up. This may end up being my new favorite Kitty Thomas book because it’s so intense. I loved each and every single word of this book. I couldn’t read it fast enough or slow enough. I wanted to know what happened next, but I also wanted it to take forever so that I would never be done with it.
I have to admit, i went into this one, not really feeling that these characters would truly get together and be a true relationship. By the end of the first chapter, i was hooked. I have to admit Kitty pulled it out the bag with this book, because I could not see how Shannon and Lindsay would ever be a forever couple like the other members of the house. But this story has pulled me in, made me feel as we see what Shannon has gone through since that eventful day with Brian so long ago, we see a bit of her past, but most of all we see Lindsay finally own up to his reason for bringing Shannon into the house in the first place and once he sets his plans in motion, he really shows his dominance here. It’s not all roses and sunshine as there are a few tense moments in the book where i had to pause before i could go on to see where it was going.
They work beautiful together and getting Damien in the mix, just took this to another level.
I loved it and i am sure anyone who has read the others in the series will too.
Kitty Thomas has opened up a whole new world for me. Please keep in mind that I haven’t read the rest of the Pleasure House series but Guilty Pleasures. I haven’t read Brian’s story and although he’s a huge part of the story in this book, Kitty Thomas managed to tell what need to be told in this book.
The heroine, Shannon, has experienced a very traumatic experience in her past and hasn’t moved on at all. She somehow twistedly blame Lindsay for that one tragic moment and hated him ever since.
Dr. Lindsay Smith, the house’s resident doctor, used to be Shannon’s kink-friendly shrink before her tume in the house. He was the one who introduced her to that world but the good doctor somehow failed Shannon in the worst way possible.
Now the dynamic of these two characters was well played out by the author. One carrying the shame and the other making blame. But between this awkward tension between them, the story played out where these two had met in the middle, collided and just gelled well together. You would see their dynamics in each scene and the power of trust between a master and his pet carefully illustrated in the story.
There were lots of kinks, intriguing back stories (it’s not boring, trust me), dungeons and dirty, dirty shenanigans between pets and masters.
Ownership is something you wouldn’t feel ashamed of with the way the author laid out this story. There was a relief knowing how the house operates the business and how well do they screen everything.
There is also an additional bonus added to the story. He will olay a huge part in the book. He’s so delicious and very kinky as well. You would enjoy him! I am so glad at what Kitty Thomas did. Like, she spoil her readers big time!
Over all, I loved how Shannon reclaim her strength back. How she did not coward and face and go after what she truly wanted. She never lose the fight inside her after everything and I’m so happy she get to have a happy ending for her!
Kitty Thomas has perhaps topped even herself this time around. “Twisted Fates” is an emotionally raw story not for the faint of heart. Shannon and Lindsay have so much chemistry between them, but past trauma has kept them apart…until now. I physically hurt for Shannon as she battled her feelings. I wanted to hate Lindsay, based on his actions from past stories in the interlinked Pleasure House books, but I just couldn’t. His obvious feelings for Shannon made me fall in love with him, which is something I thought I’d never say. I devoured this book, and loved the unique path the love interests’ relationship took. Kitty Thomas has proved once again that not all love stories look the same.
I received an ARC, but it in no way influenced my view of this book.
