Who would have known falling in love could be so dangerous? On the run from the demons in her past, Eva ends up in Twisted City, sharing an apartment with her best friend, Alice. Desperate for money, she applies for a job singing at a local nightclub. When she meets the owner, Angelo, there’s no denying the pull she feels towards him, despite his reputation as a ladies’ man. But Angelo has a … has a secret of his own: his real job is as a capo for one of the city’s most notorious mob bosses. It seems that he’s just as dangerous as the people she’s running from, but is he really? Or is he capable of being the protector Eva so desperately needs? Can she trust him with her life, and more importantly, with her heart?
Trigger Warning
Though Twisted City is a romance novel, it does come with some pretty deep messages that involve child abuse and sexual abuse. What happened to Eva is horrific and happens to many others, in many different forms. Not just strangers, but in marriages, families, and by those who claim to love us.
The purpose of this story is to show there is light at the end of the tunnel. Even after the most degrading, humiliating, tortuous acts one human being can inflict on another, joy and love can prevail. My hope is to let victims know they are strong, they are beautiful, and they are most certainly not alone. Don’t be afraid to reach out and talk to others. There are many support groups to help you through this.
If you are triggered by stories about child abuse or sexual abuse, this book probably isn’t for you. It is graphic in nature (not just the attack) but it is needed to get the message across.

This is my first book by this author and my first mafia romance! I was really unsure to start with but wow it was brilliant! It had me hooked and on the edge of my seat waiting to know what happens next. I loved the intensity of Eva & Angelo and the twist of their relationship and John, goes to show you should never judge a book by its cover! (Person not actual cover lol) agh it ended on a cliff hanger but i cannot wait to see what happens next! Definitely a great read!
This is brilliant, from what I have read it’s the first romance novel this author has written, I am now looking forward to reading a lot more by her, hint hint their madam author! Eva and Angelo have wonderful chemistry, the characters are well developed. The plot is intriguing, and I was interested from the get-go. The story was a delight to read.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Twisted City is a mafia romance that’s brilliantly written with an exquisite attention to detail. The author’s writing style takes the reader on a cinematic ride into the lives of interesting and fascinating characters. I loved the main character Eva. I found her to be relatable, and I found myself cheering her along on her journey to escape the pain of her past. There’s a theme of perseverance throughout this book that gives life to the idea that you can prevail in spite of tragedy. The tension that you feel while reading this book is palpable as you feel the struggle that Eva faces as she tries to be loyal towards her best friend at the expense of having to give up who she really loves. There are twists throughout the story that keep you guessing, and there’s no way of guessing the ending. I highly recommend this book to anyone looking for a romantic and edgy book that takes you on an exciting ride. I can hardly wait for the next book!
A fantastic Mafia romance by Rebekah Vasick! Rebekah’s writing style is so distinctive and unique – she paints a vivid picture of a world you can immerse yourself in as you’re reading.
Eva has a troubled past, and after escaping to Twisted City she gets a job singing at a club, where she meets the very swoony Angelo. Will they get together, despite his reputation and the fact that he’s in the Mafia?
This story had me hooked, and I was rooting for Eva and Angelo (did I mention how swoony he is?!!) the whole way through. And that ending…I NEED to know what happens next!!!
Twisted City has elements of angst, danger, romance, and sexual tension that the author incorporates seamlessly into the story. We follow Eva, who is on the run from her past. She eventually meets the mysterious, powerful, and sexy Angelo, who gives her a job in his club as a singer. The attraction between the two is immediate. And try as they may, neither of the can ignore it indefinitely. You will thoroughly enjoy Twisted City if you like mafia/virgin/slow-burn romance.
