The first book of the New York Times and USA Today bestselling series!
For Rose Gardner, working at the DMV on a Friday afternoon is bad even before she sees a vision of herself dead. She’s had plenty of visions, usually boring ones like someone’s toilet’s overflowed, but she’s never seen one of herself before. When her overbearing momma winds up murdered on her sofa instead, two things are … things are certain: There isn’t enough hydrogen peroxide in the state of Arkansas to get that stain out, and Rose is the prime suspect.
Rose realizes she’s wasted twenty-four years of living and makes a list on the back of a Wal-Mart receipt: twenty-eight things she wants to accomplish before her vision comes true. She’s well on her way with the help of her next door neighbor Joe, who has no trouble teaching Rose the rules of drinking, but won’t help with number fifteen– do more with a man. Joe’s new to town, but it doesn’t take a vision for Rose to realize he’s got plenty secrets of his own.
Somebody thinks Rose has something they want and they’ll do anything to get it. Her house is broken into, someone else she knows is murdered, and suddenly, dying a virgin in the Fenton County jail isn’t her biggest worry after all.
“Though much of the book is light-hearted and occasionally outright hilarious, the author sneaks in a few home truths along the way that will hit you where it counts, like how even someone’s best intentions can box you in.” –Everybody Needs a Little Romance
“This was one of those books that I kept telling myself one more page, then I need to put it down. Instead I found myself tearing through the book instead, needing to know the outcome.” –Just Jump Book Reviews

This whole series is great, can’t wait for next book to be available.
Rose Anne Gardener is someone I want to meet. She has psychic visions, and what she sees comes out her mouth. Rather like me, minus the psychic ability – I just can’t help but say what I think. Rose, on the other hand, has spent her life doing as she’s told, being the dutiful daughter, and trying not to cause trouble. Wait until you see what …
Rose has a sad background, but there is hope all though the book. There is a mystery and family secrets to figure out too. A hot neighbor to help Rose with her bucket list after Rose had a vision that she would be dead in a week. The characters are really interesting and the mystery hard to figure out.
Poor Rose is so timid from the treatment she received growing up from her Momma and then her sister and the whole town. You can see how the abuse effected her. She has to learn to be an actual adult now.
Not only that but everything and anything is being thrown at her all at once.
Mystery, Suspense, Love, Humor all packed together in an amazing …
I’m just discovering this series, but I will come back for more from this author. The character’s voice is so vibrant and the setting is so real. I love Rose and Joe and I can’t wait to see what happens next!
Very different kind of book for me. Interesting
A great, entertaining read with lots of twists and an absolutely lovable protagonist.
This is a great start to a great mystery series. It has plenty of mystery, a little action, and some romance. You’ll love getting to know Rose Gardner!
Rose’s mother was strict, religious, and controlling. Her home town thinks she’s guilty of killing her mother. At 24 Rose starts to realize she hasn’t been living her life and makes a few changes.
Her new neighbor, Joe seems to be there for her when she needs him. He also helps her complete some of the items on her wish list.
This book has …
Loved it!!
A very fast paced book with many twists and turns.
When you’ve lived a sheltered life under the rein of a horrific mother, what happens when you get your life back because your Mom is no longer alive? Rose goes from being a sheltered woman with no life experience because she’s special to dealing with all the crazies in her county. I love this book and absolutely fell in love with Rose and Neely …
Fun read. Looking forward to more in this series.
l so enjoyed trying to accomplish her wishes with her.
The characters are great and ever so believable. I very seldom come across a true 5 book. What a joy!
It’s the beginning of a wonderful friendship with Henrietta, Arkansas and Denise Grover Swank’s writing.
It’ll take you on a great journey with Rose and her family and friends.
Awesome book
The main character, Rose is a character that is brave, funny and enjoyable to know
Full Five. A re-read is unavoidable.
My best friend bought this for me while I was on maternity leave with my second baby and it got me HOOKED on the series! It was also the first book I read by Denise Grover Swank. Rose Gartner is so naïve and lovable as a character. She gets herself into some crazy situations, but she has kind of a super-power…she can sometimes see glimpses of …
