A wonderful story that warmed my heart! Finn and Amity had known each other as children due to Finn being her brother’s best friend. Now that Amity’s father and brother have passed away, she, her mother and sisters have barely been making ends meet. She knows she needs to marry but her choices are not at all making her eager to settle down.
Now at a a Christmas party given at her cousin Holly’s home, which use to be her own, she meets Finn again, who has come to ask Holly to marry him. Of course Holly has her eye on another suitor and wants Amity to distract his attentions to her.
When Finn sees the grown up Amity, he is amazed and attracted. What will happen to these two?
Lovely characters and great writing bring this story to life and have enthralled until the end!
This outstanding story was such an enjoyable read with the good character and storyline development that made this book so worth the read!
Finn and her brother were friends until her brother was killed in an accident years ago. Now they meet again at a Christmas house party . Finding a spouse isn’t all that easy in the 1800’s . I felt sorry and upset at how some families handled the process. I loved the characters and the emotions .I received a free copy of this book via Bookfunnel and I am voluntarily leaving a honest review.
I liked this book. This was a fun read and even though it is fast-paced, it delivers some solid feels. I admit that I really liked Amity and Finley. They were sweet, cute and quite swoony. Altogether, a very satisfying read. This is my unbiased, unsolicited review.
Being invited by her relatives to spend the holidays with them, should have been a joyous occasion if it were not for the fact that they are now living in the home she grew up in before her father and brother were to cruelly taken from her, and her selfish cousin’s attitude. This Cinderella romance made my heart ache for Amity as she has to traverse a celebration in the face of her cousin’s good fortune. With the arrival of Finlay Weston, Amity feels some relief at seeing her late brother’s best friend, but her hopes and desires are soon crushed as her cousin vacillates between not wanting him as a husband and then deciding he would do after all, in what would appear to be a game of proving just how far Amity and her family have fallen. Ultimately, the story does come to a good conclusion, but not without leaving something of a bad taste as Holly and her parents continue to play their manipulative games. I really do hope that Holly will eventually be brought down to earth.
I enjoyed this Regency holiday novella that kept me entertained and engaged with interesting characters and a story that I just couldn’t put down until I read the entire book. I loved the undeniable attraction and chemistry between Amity Mayweather and Finlay Weston. This is the first book I have read by Carrie Lomax but it won’t be the last. If you enjoy well written historical romance, you will love “Twelve Nights of Scandal”. I received an advance reader copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I enjoyed the conflict between the cousins. The description of the custom then that women were considered chattel, to be used to increase a family’s standing and/or wealth. The story and characters kept me interested and involved.
A short quick well written story that had me smiling as I read. Mr. Finlay Weston and Miss Amity Mayweather’s story. A very good storyline with the story flowing smoothly from page to page, the story makes you feel like you are there watching it happen. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
I loved the ending!
This book was such a joy to read it is quick but the characters are outstanding, Amity, Holly, Finlay, and all the other cast members. If there is any villain in this gem it Mr. Mayweather I love how not just Amity but also Holly stood up to him. This was a Twelfth Night that none of the characters will forget. Super book I hope you pick it up. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
ONE EXCELLENT ADVENTURE!!!
Incredible! Carrie rides the currents, maps the course and conquers the passage. Spinning out well rounded scenario’s, ramping up the excitement and adrenaline with such intensity and precision, melding this gem together flawlessly. Bucking the ton, rending the rules, propelling this baby into the eye of the storm, throwing it into a tailspin with unforseen impacts. Carefully traversing the trials and tribulations, keeping pace with a bevy of plot twists and sharp turns, grounding in it’s strength and awe inspiring in it’s depth. The personalities are well matched and blended adding just enough flaws for diversity. The characters and scenes are strikingly sharp with such colorful descriptions it gives you a full understanding and realism that flow smoothly. Remarkable job Carrie, thanks for sharing this incredible jewel with us.
