NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • Continuing in a festive annual tradition, Debbie Macomber returns with a new original holiday novel full of romance and cheer—and the magical prospect of finding love in the most unexpected places. Friendly and bubbly, Julia Padden likes nearly everyone, but her standoffish neighbor, Cain Maddox, presents a particular challenge. No matter how hard she’s tried to be … hard she’s tried to be nice, Cain rudely rebuffs her at every turn, preferring to keep to himself. But when Julia catches Cain stealing her newspaper from the lobby of their apartment building, that’s the last straw. She’s going to break through Cain’s Scrooge-like exterior the only way she knows how: by killing him with kindness.
To track her progress, Julia starts a blog called The Twelve Days of Christmas. Her first attempts to humanize Cain are far from successful. Julia brings him homemade Christmas treats and the disagreeable grinch won’t even accept them. Meanwhile, Julie’s blog becomes an online sensation, as an astonishing number of people start following her adventures. Julia continues to find ways to express kindness and, little by little, chips away at Cain’s gruff façade to reveal the caring man underneath. Unbelievably, Julia feels herself falling for Cain—and she suspects that he may be falling for her as well. But as the popularity of her blog continues to grow, Julia must decide if telling Cain the truth about having chronicled their relationship to the rest of the world is worth risking their chance at love.

She’s a wonderful writer and storyteller.
Cute story of two changes of heart through the kindness of Christmas.
Although I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher, all opinions are my own.
This is a typical Debbie Macomber book. Romantic with a lot of reality in it. The characters were real and easy to relate to, especially the main character who is also a blogger 😉 For me, this is called “popcorn reading” something light and fluffy, quick to read and puts you in a good mood. I would consider this a great book to get you in the Christmas spirit. It is one I know my mom would have loved.
Excellent story. Shows Huge impact of kindness.
Light reading for the Christmas season. Just what I was looking for.
Ok, I admit it. I love Hallmark Christmas movies. They draw me in every time. Even with a predictable plot, the sense of romance, hope, and love fills the story and those watching. This book by Debbie Macomber was the print version of a good Hallmark movie.
I was drawn in by the characters and the simple plot line. Just because I could predict the ending did not deter my enjoyment of getting there. This story focused on kindness and how it affects both people in the relationship. This was a book that filled my mind and soul with good thoughts and an extra dose of Christmas spirit.
Fun, inspirational Christmas story
This was a quick, fun Christmas story by a favorite author of mine. Macomber is a go-to author of mine when I want a feel-good story and this one really delivered.
Julia is bubbly and happy but her neighbor Cain, who steals her newspaper, is trying her patience. So when her friend suggests she “kill him with kindness” and write a blog about it, she jumps on the chance.
She’s been working in retail forever and this blog will give her a chance at a job in social media PLUS let her annoy her irritating neighbor.
But she finds her neighbor isn’t quite as irritating once she starts being kind to him and how will she let him know about the blog?
I loved this light-hearted story and read it in one sitting.
What a fun bite sized holiday romance. I really enjoyed the premise that kindness changes people.
What’s not to love about this Christmas story. Likeable characters and a romance that everyone cheers for. I love Debbie Macomber Christmas stories…they warm the heart.
Awesome book
I couldn’t tell if this takes place in current times or in the past. Some of the major characters were half-baked and not realistic. I expected more from this author.
A quick read in which Julia begins a blog project called “Twelve Days of Christmas” to try to breakdown the barrier that her neighbor Cain has with her. Throughout the twelve days, Julia goes out of her way to do random acts of kindness towards Cain. What will happen if she is able to break down those barriers that he has up? Julia and Cain have a growing comfortable friendship with humor and Christmas as the back drop.
I loved this cute Christmas romance. The whole kill him with kindness was so awesome. Julie’s blog was great. I loved this so much. I definitely recommend this one!
Wow what a way to start my Christmas reads. This will be one that I reread every year. This was very cute and short read. Highly recommend this read. I enjoy the characters.
