Lady Hattie McGovern is having the time of her life, traveling with her eccentric, extended family throughout Europe on their grand tour. She has sworn to enjoy herself to the fullest on the Italian leg of their tour, and unlike her cousins, the very last thing she wants is to be tied down in marriage. She is determined to keep herself free and single. Lord Adrian Fairfax, Earl of Whitemarsh, has … of Whitemarsh, has been banished from home by his father, who is tired of his rakish ways and insists his son find a suitable bride. Adrian craves adventure, though, and has chosen to look for a bride abroad. But he intends to have fun before shackling himself to her.
When Hattie and Adrian are thrown together completely by accident, sparks fly. Adrian knows he’s found the bride for him, but can he convince Hattie to take the plunge? And will the dark secret that has been following the McGovern clan around Europe catch up with them at last?
TALES FROM THE GRAND TOUR is a steamy, light-hearted Victorian series, set in the 1890s, that follows the wild, unconventional, often scandalous McGovern cousins as they make their way through Europe and beyond.

I really like these romps of Merry Farmer’s. They’re fun, easy-to-read, and of course, super-steamy (they tend toward insta-love, insta-lust). This is a new series, but like her Wallflowers, is organized in trilogies. So although this is book 4 in Tales from the Grand Tour, it’s the start of a new plot line–intrigue, danger, mystery! You don’t have to have read books 1-3 to “get” this book/plot line, and I think you’ll enjoy it if you’re looking for something quick and fun!

Hattie “Heather, Sage, and Miss Sewett are returning to the Villa Angelina where they are spending their holiday when they are tipped over in their carriage.
Adrian and his friend Gianni are going to their flat or residential place when their carriage also flips over. The men get out and hear a woman crying out for help. Adrian pulls the women out and Gianni helps Miss Sewett to safety.
The mystery of the McGovern family continues! Asher is up in arms about a missing spy glass, Trent confront’s Asher and learns the entire family is in danger.
Who is the woman what does the message mean? Oh heavens it’s sounds like getting dangerous!
Now for my prudish thoughts, this book isn’t for everyone, there are adult situations. Apart from that you will find yourself laughing and sighing from time to time. This couple were created for each other. I enjoyed reading this story and hope to get a chance to read more. Well done Merry!
My disclaimer…
I was given a copy of this book for my honest review.
Any book or novels I leave reviews on are not dependent on the book/novel review author’s opinion. No one influenced my voluntary review for any of the books or novels I read, they are my own opinions.
Lady Hattie McGovern is a bit wild and eccentric, even by her unconventional family’s standards. Traveling Europe with all her extended family, she’s determined to make the most of her time in Italy. Unlike her cousins, she’s not interested in ever marrying, preferring to enjoy herself and avoid making her mother’s mistakes.
Lord Adrian Fairfax, Earl of Whitemarsh, has reached the limits of his father’s patience – and his funds. His father is fed up with his son’s gambling and refuses to allow him to return to England without a suitable English bride. Adrian intends to keep having fun, even when married and hopes to find a wife who can keep up.
When Hattie and Adrian are quite literally thrown together in a carriage accident, the attraction between them is immediate. Adrian is instantly certain he’s found his wife, but convincing Hattie to make that commitment will be no easy feat, especially with the mysterious dark secret of the McGovern family still following them around Europe.
This was a fun, quick read with plenty of steam. This was excellent light entertainment in which the usual rules are thrown out the window. Hattie and Adrian were pretty much both complete reprobates, but they were fun, despite the fact that Hattie’s repeated insistence on never marrying, and for fairly feeble reasons, did get a bit old. I’m ready for the next story as the family moves on to Venice and we hopefully learn more about the mysterious secret.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Best accidental rendezvous. I just love Hattie’s demeanor, she’s a go-getter, knows exactly what she wants and boldly reveals her desires. She’s met her match though as stubborn as she is, Adrian is just as determined. I like Adrian too, he is the perfect match for her. Ms. Sewett is…. still hilarious with her uppity protocol. The family mystery keeps getting more intriguing. Never a dull moment. I received a free copy without obligation from the author and I am voluntarily reviewing.
Tuscany, Italy – Summer, 1890
We catch us with those fun loving McGovern family as they make their way to Tuscany as they continue the Grand Tour. What can they be up to now?
Lady Hattie McGovern just wanted adventure, passion and excitement and stay single and free. Unlike her cousins who seemed to be quickly falling into marriage.
Lord Adrian has been given an ultimatum. Get married or his funds will be cut off, which had just happened. He thought he might have a good chance to find a bride abroad thus he was in Italy.
But in a twist (fate or just accident?) Hattie and Adrian meet and he is convinced she is for him. But she is a stubborn lady and resists.
Will these two end up together? Adventure, secrets, mystery and an undeniable attraction bring this story to a wonderful journey to the end!! What will this family get up to next?
So we begin our second set of Tales from the Grand Tour. This is a fun, light-hearted romp of a story. It is sweet and just the thing you need if you are feeling out of sorts. I love these types of stories. They take our mind off of our daily lives into a world where you can imagine and be anybody you want. Hattie and Adrian are like minded people, sort of, and are too cute together. I love the way Merry weaves a little mystery into the stories. So stay tuned for the remainder of the McGovern clan.
I received a complimentary copy from the author.
A fun romp with Hattie who is a free spirit who does what she wants and does not want a man to tame her. That is until she meets Adrian. Adrian is a happy go lucky bachelor who must marry to gain his father’s favor. Now that he met Hattie that prospect doesn’t seem to bad. These wild spirited mesh but Hattie is hesitant. But Adrian has to some tricks up his sleeve and other parts of his being that he will use to enamor her. There is some intrigue going on with her cousin that we have been following in this series. Another well written engrossing read which I read in a sitting. Fast paced with strong characters & an attraction that is so hot. I loved both Adrian & Hattie who whilst attracted to each other they also liked each other & both were ripe for falling in love. There’s the mystery to be solved that has followed the family around Europe & I can’t wait for the next book set in Venice
My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
