For Otho Newcomer, the small village of Snowmelt is a haven from his old life. If he isn’t exactly a changed man, he at least hopes to keep his distance from all those easy romances, and the inevitable heartache and disappointment that always follow. Mason Dager is an idiot. His ex has cleared out his bank account, sold his car, and got him thrown out of his apartment. And he has no one to blame … one to blame but himself. But what better way to celebrate a new chapter in his life — one that includes homelessness and the humiliation of telling his family they were right all along — than to spend Christmas at a swanky winter resort like River Cove? It’s already paid for, after all.
When a very drunk Mason makes yet another dumb decision, Otho comes to the rescue, throwing the men together during the most magical time of the year.
What should be the wrong choice for both of them might be exactly what they need. They’ll just have to survive a nosy best friend, an asshole of an ex, and the scars of their pasts if they hope to find something together.

Two lost souls always looking for love with the wrong person. They meet and both are attracted to each other but leery of each other. I really liked this book. It’s a short story and is fast paced.
Sweet although broken-hearted Mason meets maintenance man Otho, who is just in the right place at the right place when Mason need a bit of help 😛
They like each other quite a bit, but both are coming from bad relationships, so neither is willing to take a chance. An ex showing up, and some friends’ advice might be all they need to change their mind 😛
A lovely, sweet short feeling-good story =D
I received an ARC of this story, and this is my honest and voluntary opinion.
Short, sweet, simple, snowy MM Christmas treat
4.5stars. Cute romance with a pinch of passion
I adored Otho, the rugged, wood-turning groundskeeper who stumbles on a Mason in peril and effectively becomes his knight in shining armor. Otto is so strong, sweet and nurturing! Mason is a fun character in his hapless misfortune and his misapprehension about Otho’s motives and intentions. Joslyn, Otho’s friend, is sharp of tongue and a breath of fresh, frosty air. Their Christmas snug in a cabin in the snowy countryside is cozy and charming thanks to Otho’s nesting skills. The story left me wanting more of this couple which, to me, indicates that it was a hit!
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
This is a sweet love story with strong , well developed characters in Mason and Otho, who meet in the magical Christmas season. The author brings the two men ,each dealing with their own issues, together in this fast paced romance , adds a cast of supporting characters and weaves a cute , entertaining love story. I loved watching them come together and would recommend reading their story.

Turning wood really does sound dirty! Mason, after facing the ultimate betrayal and rejection by Joel, his ex, continues to make bad decisions. He is not unsmart or bad, he’s just unfortunate. Otho, working as the maintenance man in the resort, is available when Mason almost makes a fatal mistake. Otho’s patient, caring nature is on display. Mason’s wise trust makes an appearance. Can these two put down barriers to see what’s in front of them? Nice Christmas story. Excellent romantic short. I wish it was longer. This is another sweet, fun story full of quirky characters from Ofelia Grande. There is a lonely man who apparently makes bad choices in men, a sweet but clueless young man whose boyfriend cleaned him out, too much alcohol, a walk on thin ice, a sharp-tongued best friend, and a weasel ex in this light-hearted holiday tale. I have to say, I really enjoyed having the ex come back, no doubt looking for more funds, and seeing Mason with someone new. I love seeing someone get their just deserts!
