SophieAll I did was try to help my best friend escape her abusive boyfriend. And for that I ended up in a wheelchair. Life’s no longer worth living. No man will want me now. But my nightmare is only beginning. Ethan wants me as leverage to get his woman back. I end up under the protection of the Satan’s Devils, an outlaw motorcycle club in Arizona. The woman I was would have been in her element … been in her element among a group of handsome, rugged bikers; the disabled woman I am now feels scared and vulnerable, and soon I find this isn’t the safest place to hide.
But with a contract out on me, there’s nowhere else for me to go. There’s one reason for me to stay, the VP of the Satan’s Devils who teaches me to feel like a whole woman again.
Wraith
She doesn’t fit into our world. Fuck, even if she wasn’t in that damn wheelchair she’d be out of her element. But as soon as I saw her something attracted me to her.
From the start I wanted her, but she thinks she’s undesirable and is scared of taking a man to her bed as though her disability defines who she is. I’m going to need to teach her she’s wrong.
But before I can take my chance everything goes to shit. She’s under our protection, but we fail to protect her from one of our own.

While this is the book that kick started this series, it wasnt my first book of this series. I started in the middle and when I was thoroughly hooked, I just had to come back and start from the beginning.
I absolutely without a doubt, love this series. And these two, oh you are in for one wild ride (pun intended).
If you like bikers, smart mouthed women and men who love fiercely, this is a book for you. It has all you need and more!
Turning Wheels (Satan’s Devils #1) by Manda Mellett was a really good read! I really enjoyed reading this one, because I started with the new generation, and the spin off locations so going back to the first book that started the whole series was great to me. It’s interesting seeing how these “older” characters ran things in their days, and it helped me understand the books I have read better. My only complaint was that this book felt a little slower than the other books I’ve read of hers have. It’s probably because it’s the first book in the series, which I can completely understand, but overall I thoroughly enjoyed this novel and can’t wait to dive into more of these!
Turning Wheels was a great 5 star read and book one in the Satan’s Devils MC.
Once I started I couldn’t put it down.
Sophie was trying to help her best friend get away from her monster boyfriend and she ended up in a tragic accident that would change her life forever. Now in a wheelchair she finds herself face-to-face with Horse, a man who says he was sent by her best friend to keep her safe. She is once again in danger and Horse is determined to keep her safe. He ends up reaching out to his friends at Satan’s Devils MC.
Wraith is the VP of the club and is immediately drawn to Sophie once he sees her. His protective instincts kick in and he wants to keep her safe. Will the MC be able to keep Sophie safe?
Overall I really enjoyed this read. I really feel like going to the MC really made a huge difference for Sophie, it helped her get her confidence back and feel whole again. All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. We get action, steamy sex scenes, and so much more. I look forward to reading more from this series. I’m hoping to get Red’s story soon. 1-click and get started today.
Okay. I keep changing my favorite read of the year. I’m OBSESSED with this book- Turning Wheels (Satan’s Devils #1) by Manda Mellett. I’m on the way home from visiting family and literally ignored my family in the car because I HAD to read this book.
Omg. The characters?! Amazing. I legitimately related to the potty mouth on these guys. A lot of writers throw cursing in books that doesn’t seem authentic but- it’s perfect. The storyline was heavy but so amazingly done!
Don’t EVEN get me started on the sexy parts. Have you seen that GIF of Santana from Glee fanning herself? Picture that nearly the entire time I read this book!
Throughout the entire story I have legitimately laughed, cried, and swooned! This is a definite must read for anyone interested in reading MC!
I was new to Manda Mellet when I picked up this book. I read the description and thought it sounded super interesting given one of the main characters was in a wheelchair and it took place in a motorcycle club ?! And involved bikers from the UK ? Wait, that exists ? How does that work ?! Sure, I’m all in for this one! Once I started reading I quickly realized how much more this book contained then I had originally thought. It was longer than most books in this genre, I think, but I wasn’t really familiar with the genre itself. I devoured every last page and it definitely didn’t feel overlong as I neared the end I actually found myself wishing there was more. I needed more Wraith and Sophie and more of the rest of the MC. The characters felt like real people, like they could just walk off the page. You could really feel Sophie’s angst, and struggles, Wraith, Horse, Peg, and the rest of the guys love for her. Their love for the MC went deep. They were wholly prepared to defend her against the evil, vicious man that was Ethan St John-Davies. Not to mention plenty of smut and sexyness to keep things rolling. I would definitely give this book a try if this type of book is your thing or even if it’s not there were many layers to this book that just might pull you in. I, for one, and glad it’s part of a series because I definitely need more. Also, even though I didn’t need to use it the author includes a super helpful glossary at the back of the book that may explain some of the things mentioned in the book if you have any questions as to what’s what while reading.
Turning Wheels (Satan’s Devils MC #1)by Manda Mellett
5 out of 5 stars
I have read quite a few books written by Ms. Mellett I do not know which one I like the most and her writing just gets better with each book. The characters are well written with strong minds. Her detailed description of the background and people are amazing. The Satan Devils MC are not just a bunch of misfits that come together it is a brotherhood and they look out for their own.
All Sophie did help her best friend escape her abusive boyfriend, and for that she ended up in a wheelchair. But now her nightmare is only beginning because, Ethan wants Sophie as leverage to get his woman back.
Some how Sophie ended up under the protection of the Satan Devils and now she is in outlaw motorcycle club in Arizona. With her newly disability she is scared and vulnerable, and soon I find this isn’t the safest place to hide.
Wraith isn’t looking for love or old lady. But things change when Sophie rolls in. He wanted her from the start but she is so insecure. She doesn’t fit into his world or does she? she thinks she’s undesirable and is scared of taking a man to her bed as though her disability defines who she is. She is so wrong and now Wraith is going to make it his mission.
But with this contract out on her Wraith needs to be the VP and not just a man?
Will this Ethan fellow catch Sophie to catch is Ex? Will Sophie go back to her old life? Will she be want to be-able to live a full life?
You need to read this great book…

It has been quite a long time since I read a MC book, and this book was fabulous. I was totally sucked in from the beginning to the end. My heart really went out to Sophie and the story of why she ended up with a horrifying physical injury. You wonder what kind of monster would intentionally try and harm another human being, I could never imagine. Then we have Wraith, what can I say but wow holy hotness. I believe Sophie really took him by storm. Sophie needed protection the most as someone is out to get her. Horse and Cut (other characters) are there to rescue Sophie from a threat and they take her a MC in Arizona where she meets the gang including Wraith. One of my favorite characters as well in the story is Peg, just made me laugh and also a protector. I believe Wraith and Sophie together is pure hotness. If you like a MC story with mystery and pure hot moments, this book is definitely for you.
Turning Wheels is the first book in the Satan’s Devils MC series by Manda Mellett. I first discovered Manda Mellett at the end of the Satan’s Devils series and have read all the other spin-offs that have come from it but although I’ve owned the box sets for a while still hadn’t gone back to see how it all began. Now I’ve finally gone back to the beginning to see what I missed and I’m cursing myself for not doing it sooner. I absolutely loved Sophie and Wraith’s story.
Having read sone of the spin-offs where Wraith and Sophie are older I had to keep reminding myself that they are much younger in this story. Manda Mellett blows me away every time I read one of her books. The characters are so well written and we get to see deep inside the heads of out characters and in this book I could have cried for Sophie so many times. She’s had a very tough time of it and my heart just melts for how Wraith (and most of the other guys in the MC) take this English woman to their hearts. I have to say that I also laughed so much when she was teaching them some British sayings. As a Brit, I just take these sayings for granted and don’t realise how strange they are to others.
Manda Mellett is not shy to tackling a difficult issue and in this book Sophie is in a wheelchair and feels like she’s not a real woman anymore. Why would anyone want a cripple like her. I love how Manda Mellett treated this storyline and made Sophie feel sexy and desirable again.
I now need to get on with reading the others in this series that I’ve missed. 100% recommend this book and anything written by Manda Mellett. I just can’t praise her enough.
Wow what a book. This isn’t the first book I have read by Manda Mellett but as with previous ones I have really enjoyed it. I love the whole MC culture and mixed with romance it’s a perfect combination.
What I found really good about this book is it is full of emotion. Some parts are hard to read such as Sophie’s feelings about being an amputee. That was handled with such care and though that you could really imagine and feel how scared and vulnerable she was at times and how hopeless she felt.
With dangers lurking around every corner she feels so out of control of her life and vulnerable.
The relationship between her and Wraith is one of passion and respect. Wraith has is fiercely protective of her and won’t allow anyone to harm her however some things are beyond her control. He tries so hard to help Sophie see her worth and to make her believe that his feelings are true. You can feel his frustration when she doubts herself and him.
This book is a wild ride as two people from 2 very different backgrounds get thrown together and somehow it works. With the help of the other brothers in the MC Sophie starts to regain herself again which only makes Wraith love her all the more.
Turning Wheels is the first in the series entitled Satan’s Devils, but not the first book I have read by Mellet. This is probably one of my favorite stories by Mellet.
I love this storyline and these characters, especially the “disabled” character of Wheels. She is one tough cookie. I really love how the plot kept moving and the buildup to the climax was not a letdown at all.
This story is about a motorcycle club, MC, that while may not be completely innocent, they do try to do the right thing. And protecting women is one of those things. When Sophie is threatened by a wealthy crazy man the MC takes her under their protection. I love that Sophie has no idea about MC’s in America being that she is from England. Her surprise and learning is refreshing if not comical.
Wraith is the VP of the club with no desire to be president and no desire to have an old lady, wife in MC terms. He earned his name…well as you can imagine. When he meets Sophie, he is taken back by his immediate feelings for her. His protective instincts sky rocket.
The two learn how to accept each other and bring out the best in each, as any healthy relationship should be. I am looking forward to the rest of the club’s stories.
Turning Wheels by Manda Mellett is the first book in the Satan’s Devils collection. Sophie had an accident that leaves her in a wheel chair. She tries to do the right thing by helping her friend get out of an abusive relationship, but in turn makes herself the new target. With a hit out on her head, she seeks safety anywhere she can. A motorcycle club takes her in with hopes of protecting her. Sophie feels vulnerable, depressed, and scared. After the accident, she lost all self-esteem.
Wraith is in the biker gang helping to protect Sophie, and wants to help her gain her
self-esteem so she can see herself the way he sees her.
Can Sophie get past her disability? Can the biker gang keep her safe when troubles arise on the inside?
Definitely a story that keeps you turning pages well into the night. Excited for the next
one!
This was my first book by this author. I am a huge fan of Sons Of Anarchy and this was a perfect fit for that genre. This is the story of Wraith and Sophie. I love Sophie, she is insecure about her womanhood after an accident puts her in a wheelchair. For her safety she is taken to the Satan’s Outlaws, and MC in the states. She is thrown into their lifestyle which she has never been exposed to before but makes friends as she starts to come out of her shell. This book made me feel every emotion; fear, sadness, anger, love, and joy.
Wraith never thought to find someone that rocks his world enough to have an “old lady”, but he knows there is something different about Sophie as soon as he meets her. He wonders though, if she will fit into his hardcore world. Would love to see more about this couple and am looking forward to reading more books in this series.
Triggers: Violence (domestic abuse and rape)
What happens when you do a good deed and it back fires, well that’s what happened to Sophie and now how can she get out of this mess.
Sophie is a great friend and within helping her best friend escape a horrendous relationship she becomes embroiled within a contract being placed on her head. So broken and at her lowest she is in the protection of a MC gang but can she survive her own demons as well as the devil who is her protector.
Wraith is the VP of the Satan Devil’s he can have any woman he wants but why does he keep getting drawn to the one woman he shouldn’t have, he is her protector but he needs to show her that she is still attractive and does not belong in his broken world, but getting close to her can he protector like he has been order too.
This is the first book I have read by this author and I have to say I loved the premise and the action twists and turns which will have you on the end of your seat. Did I find the attraction believable with the two main characters, well yes in certain ways but sometimes I feel that the relationship was trying to fit a certain pattern which got me a little flat at times, did this distract from the story, hell know this was only my preference and is only a slight critic. The story was well written and fast paced and was a pleasure to read.
I also love the getting to know different worlds and although I have read a few books in this genre it was fascinating to read the way the group dynamic worked and the structures and rules. I will definitely read the next book in this series and try the other books by this author.
Turning Wheels by Manda Mellett is the first book in the Satan’s Devils MC. This book is an absolutely fantastic book and the start of one of my favourite series! This book is exciting to read and I was hooked right from page one. I loved the fact that from the word go the author was clearly not afraid of throwing in obstacles that you don’t often see in books. The fact that the main character is in a wheelchair and around an MC I just loved. It made it different from any other MC book that I have ever read.
Manda Mellett is an author I wasn’t familiar with a couple of years ago now and yet has very quickly become one of those that I would one click buy without even reading the description. I love her writing style and how involved she makes you get into each of her books. The characters are always so well suited and so easy to connect with.
This book is a brilliantly strong start to a series and it absolutely worth the time!
Turning Wheels is my first book from author Manda Mellet. I have also never read an MC book previously so was definitely into new territory with this book. It was an interesting story about a woman named Sophie who must leave her home in England to seek protection, after trying to help her best friend from an abusive relationship. Sophie arrives in Arizona to discover her protection come in the form of a motorcycle club, where she in turn meets the VP, Wraith. This book tells the story of Sophie and Wraith, all while Sophie tries to grasp her place into this foreign territory.
I did enjoy the premise of the story and reading those sections of the story. I did have to come to terms with what an MC actually is and how members live their life. It was very out of scope with the settings I typically read. I’m not huge into the more graphic sex scenes, so mainly skimmed those parts to get to the actual storyline. I will also say, I wanted a bit more closure with her best friends story, but see that her story is part of another series from this author so at least I can have more closure with that plot hole in this book. Although it wasn’t something I would usually read, I will recommend as a good read with an intriguing story of one’s survival in an unlikely place.
I have never read a book by Mellett before this one. Now I am pretty sure I am about to load up my kindle with her stories. Turning wheels had me in love from the start with this MC crew. Sophie had me rooting for her from the beginning , but at the same time had me yelling at her decisions. Wraith was the perfect alpha man with a heart for his woman that you’d want in your life. I love the fact Sophie had to work for what she wanted instead of it just magically being better for her. It touched on issues that felt real and made you relate to the group. I would recommend this book to any MC loving reader.
I loved this first book in the Satan’s Devils MC series! Wraith and his club were wonderful guys who saw more than a woman in a wheelchair when Sophie came to them broken and on the run. She had been almost killed by her friend’s abusive boyfriend and he was coming to finish the job.
The man sent to protect her, Horse, knew he had to get her away from England in order to protect her. So he took her to his friends in Arizona, the Satan’s Devils. She was to be off limits per their President, Drummer.. The VP, Wraith, couldn’t help his attraction. He fought it until he couldn’t. An attack by a club brother brought him to confess his feelings for her..
There were lots of things to like about this book. I loved Peg who got her to see her life wasn’t over and was the one to get her to walk again when she thought it would never happen! A very inspirational, steamy, sexy, dangerous read. I anticipate the rest of the series will be just as good!
Turning Wheels: Satan’s Devils MC #1 by Manda Mellett
5 of 5 Stars
Turning Wheels, introduces us to the Satan’s Devils MC and is the first book in Manda Mellett’s ‘Satan’s Devils MC’ series. Each book in the series can be read as a standalone story but the characters do crossover and it is more enjoyable if you read the books in order. In this book the club and its members are seen through the eyes of a disabled English woman, Sophie who is under their protection. Sophie is still coming to terms with being in a wheelchair and is overwhelmed at suddenly being in the middle of an American MC. We meet Wraith, the VP, who shows Sophie that her disability doesn’t define her. Wraith try’s to fight his attraction but when he needs to protect her from enemies he can not deny their chemistry.
Satan’s Devils are “hot alpha males who certainly aren’t shy in the bedroom”, and one by one they meet their strong feisty women, “who they want to ride with through life”. The storyline is fast paced and there are a host of amazing characters from officers, prospects and patched members of the Satan’s Devils and their Old Ladies to the club sweet butts. All the characters are well developed and have their own backstories which adds to the overall storylines. The story is full of drama, action, suspense and of course romance and plenty of steamy scenes as the chemistry between Sophie and Wraith sizzled off the page. I felt completely immersed in the Satan’s Devils world and found Mellett to be a wonderful writer, world builder and storyteller. I look forward to the rest of the series.

Turning Wheels is the first book in Satan’s Devils MC Series by Manda Mellett. This is the book that started it all. I remember coming into the series on book six, not sure what to expect or if I would even like the book, as I wasn’t a huge fan of MC series. But boy did I change my mind quite quickly. I enjoyed it so much that I went back and got the previous five books to consume, too… and so started my Manda Mellett addiction.
I have read every one of her books now and have found that I can always count on her to spin an enthralling read. Recently, the earlier books in the series popped up on my recommended book feed, sparking pleasant memories that were spent between these pages, prompting me to read them all over again. I am happy to say that I have enjoyed going back to the beginning of this series just as much as I did the first time around.
This story really tugged at my heartstrings. Meeting Sophie and discovering everything she’d been through, how much her disability eroded her confidence and sense of self, made my heart ache for her. I wasn’t sure to begin with that Wraith would be the right ‘one’ for her- but he soon changed my mind. Then add in the danger, tension, suspense, and chemistry! Bam- we have a heart-pounding read!
If you love a really beautifully written, riveting MC story- with complex, quirky and loveable characters, sizzling scenes, overcoming adversity, all wrapped within an original plot- then this is definitely a book you won’t want to miss. Be warned though, you may discover that one of Ms. Mellett’s addictive books may not be enough!
Thank you, Ms. Mellett!
Turning Wheels was the first book in the series. I loved Sophie and my heart hurt for her. Seeing her go from depressed to strong and confident was empowering. There were so many emotions I came back to this book multiple times. I loved the story and kept coming back until it was all done.
