Turning the Tide (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 5)
By: Phoebe Alexander
5 out of 5 stars
The story Turning the Tide (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 5) by Phoebe Alexander is a romantic suspense book. It is the next wonderful story in a series that I have loved since reading the first book. The story is entertaining, romantic, and also had me turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. I loved reading about the character of Luke Cannon. He is a man that wonders if he will every experience intimacy or love again. Luke is a character that I grew to care about and I found myself wanting him to find happiness. My heart hurt for him as I read about his life. Luke meets a woman who is independent, caring, compassionate, kind, and beautiful. Read this book to find out what happens next. This is a story that is emotional and mine went up and down the entire book. There are flirty and dirty talking as well as steamy moments that make the temperature in the room rise. I love that this series has characters that are familiar as they have been brought forward from previous books. You can feel the bonds of friendship and the feeling of family between them. I was drawn into the story from the beginning. Don’t miss out on the latest story in a series that includes an exciting club for swingers. Highly recommended reading.
Turning The Tide by Phoebe Alexander is book 5 in the Eastern shore swingers series. The book was captivating. Just like the others. The characters are wonderfully written and the story lines just get better and better. This book has a rollercoaster of intrigue and romance and emotions. I cant wait to see what this author does next. I really enjoy the writing style and character development. I give this book a solid 5 stars.
This can be read as a standalone. Okay now let me start with my thoughts on it.
Omg!! This was a new kind of book for me. I haven’t ever read a swingers book, thought I might hate it but on the contrary I enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed the story line of this book; it wasn’t just an orgy fest. I honestly felt bad for the guy in this book. I also loved that you find yourself hating on his wife making his situation and the fact that he finds someone so much better. There was a mystery to this story line as well, and to me that’s probably what kept me wanting to finish it so soon. If you are wondering about the sexual scenes, let me just say they are steamy. I would have loved to know more on the ending and know what happened with all the bad people. I’m twisted but I really hated his wife and I wanted and hoped to see her destroyed, sadly it doesn’t really touch up on her misery if any. It was a hea, so no worries there. I would totally pick up more books from this author.
This is hands down one of my all time favorite series! Each book is beautifully written. The characters are amazing. It’s always like coming home! The one thing I love is that yes it’s a series about swingers but the stories are spell bounding and emotional. It’s not all sex but there are some truly steamy sexy times.
Luke is in the worse loveless marriage. OMG every time his wife was in a scene I literally got all stabby! He’s a good friend of Cap’s and was invited to the club where he meets Casey Fontaine’s sister Connie. The attraction was instant but both people have major hurdles to overcome.
This book had so many twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. The blooming love between Luke and Connie was beautiful and the drama will have you on the edge of your seat. Phoebe Alexander is a beautiful writer who is the master of sucking you into the world she creates!
Turning the Tide (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 5) by Phoebe Alexander is another great addition to this already great series. I enjoy the stories Phoebe gives us of the swingers and the characters are familiar and loveable. The books can be read as standalones but I suggest you read them in order to understand the characters and how they got to where they are now. They each feature in all the books in one way or another.
Connie left her cheating husband and moved back to be with her sister, the fabulous Casey. Connie is not a swinger and not part of that lifestyle but everything is sexy, hot and definitely makes her curious. When she meets Luke at the club things definitely take a turn for the better but not before his life falls to pieces.
Turning the Tide (Eastern Swingers Book 5)
Phoebe Alexander
5 out of 5 Stars
Turning the Tide is another perfect addition to the Eastern Swingers series. Phoebe Alexander has once again delivered a page turning story with captivating characters and a rich storyline. It is hard for me to put into words just how Turning the Tide (and the rest of the Eastern Swingers series) makes me feel. Phoebe Alexander is incredibly talented in her writing with a clear goal to deliver body positive as well as sex positive stories that leave you feeling like you met several new friends in these characters and said friends just “get” you.
While sexy like all of Phoebe Alexander’s writing, Turning the Tide tackles adult issues that in many circles are taboo to talk about, alternative lifestyles, abuse, infidelity (to name a few) in a way that is comfortable and intriguing. I can’t stress enough that you should read ALL of the Eastern Swingers series, preferably in order. It is not necessary, in fact I’ve jumped around a bit but each book gets better than the last and seeing how each character’s lives are woven into each other’s is a fun addition to the storylines. As always, I look forward to reading more from Phoebe Alexander.
Turning the Tide (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 5)
By Phoebe Alexander
Turning the Tide is book five in the Eastern Shore Swingers series by Phoebe Alexander. Each of the books in this series can be read as a standalone quite easily. First up please note that this book may contain a trigger effect for some people as it does discuss emotional and verbal abuse so read with care. Secondly this book does have cheating involved. What we need to remember the cheating husband is not real so stress less, and no I do not condone cheating in the real world. This book is most probably my favourite purely because it was good to read a story on older people and by older, I mean people around my age lol. So anyway, Turning the Tide is focussed on Luke and Connie. I have had to reword this review three times. In the end I must admit I ended up reading a few reviews by other people, I must say I was shocked to read some thought that Luke was a weak. I do question that as do we think a woman is weak in the same situation?
I really like Luke’s character, he has remained faithful to an abusive wife, done everything for her and for what? All the while this poor man is depressed and feels like he is stuck where he is. Enter Cap (from book 1), convinces Luke to co me to his club for a look.
Connie moved to Ocean City to be closer to her sister Casey who had a battle with breast cancer. Connie to me was an awesome one therefore I enjoyed reading about her. Connie is by no means in to the lifestyle of the club. She does however like to hang out at the club and is made to feel part of the crew.
When Connie and Luke meet the connection between them is instant, it is something that has Luke thinking how much happier he could be. But yes of course there is a but, Barbara is causing trouble so could this be too much for Luke and Connie to handle? Will Connie and Luke get their HEA, you will need to read the book and find out. Lastly, I have listed the books in this series in case you want them.
Book 1 Fisher of Men – Cap and Leah’s Story
Book 2 The Catch – Calvin and Paisley’s Story
Book 3 Siren Call – Jessie and Sirena’s Story
Book 4 Sailors Knot – Casey, Gabriel and Joshua’s Story
Book 5 Turning the Tide – Luke and Connie’s Story
Turning the Tides is book 5 in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series by author Phoebe Alexander. These books can be read as a standalone, as each book follows a new set of characters. Phoebe Alexander continues to wow me with her writing style, incredible plot/storylines and even better characters. Each time she writes another book I continually get captivated and drawn into each read and don’t want to put it down.
Turning the Tides tells us Luke & Connie’s story. This book has sexiness, its steamy theres action and of course an amazing connection between the two characters that you cant help but wish they get the HEA they both deserve. Both of these characters are relatable and lovable and when you are reading their journey, you feel as though you are there right alongside them living the story yourself.
This was another addicting read to this series and one that shouldn’t be missed! I can’t wait to read what else comes from this series and this author.
Luke is stuck in an impossible situation. He hasn’t been intimate with his wife in 10 years and what’s more, she’s verbally abusive. She treats him as little more than a servant. But he’s always made excuses for her, that it was because she was in so much pain from a mysterious illness. He’s been depressed for a long time and feels caught in a hopeless situation. But after much persuading, his good friend Cap has convinced him to come down to the club, and things might just start looking up for Luke.
Connie has moved to Ocean City to be closer to her sister Casey, who just came through a huge battle with breast cancer. While Connie isn’t a part of the lifestyle, she likes to hang out at the club and is part of the crew. When she meets Luke there is an instant connection, but he comes with more baggage than most men and it might be more hassle than it’s worth. Especially because Luke’s wife Barbara is causing trouble.
So it’s safe to say here that I cannot stand Luke’s wife Barbara, and I think Phoebe did an excellent job creating such an awful person. I really liked Luke and I think he put up with so much and not just from his wife, but his children. He a strong man with a heart of gold and he didn’t take any of his decisions lightly. When we first met Connie in previous books I instantly liked her as she’s kind, caring, and funny. She’s perfect for Luke and I like that they’re learning this lifestyle together.
The Eastern Shore Swingers series has such amazing and eclectic characters with unique personalities. I love that they all make appearances in each other’s books and of course, that they can be read as standalones and together. Each time we meet someone new, I know I’m going to love that character and Luke makes a perfect new addition. He’s an easy character to empathize with, to cheer on and hope for the best. His scenes with Connie range from emotional to scorching to heartwarming and back again. An excellent read!
Turning the Tide (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 5)
by Phoebe Alexander
I loved reading this wonderful addition to an already wonderful series. These books in this series can be read as a standalone and you can also read them in order as some of the characters show up in each of the books. This is Luke and Connie’s story and there is a lot of different emotions throughout their story. There is suspense, funny moments, steamy moments and so much more. The swingers group are close knit group of friends that are like family and there for each other it times of need. I really enjoyed reading this story and I couldn’t put it down till I found out where these two end up. I found myself rooting for Luke’s happiness as he has been through alot. I don’t want to give anything away so I just want to say that it’s a definite must read and I highly recommend this book and this wonderful series.
Turning the Tide is the fifth book in the Eastern Shore Swingers series. It can be read as a standalone.
Having read the previous books in this series, I’d say this one is different in that it is less about the swinger lifestyle and more about Luke and Connie as a couple. The previous books were more about how the swinger lifestyle affected and influenced the relationships, this one is more about how it facilitates the initial meeting of Luke and Connie. I liked the BDSM aspects of this book, but I found myself conflicted about the book in general. I can’t really get into any further detail about that or I’ll ruin the story line. Overall it was an entertaining read. The story moved along at a nice pace and there were a couple of unexpected twists. I don’t feel like this story was a strong as some others in the series, but it has some juicy moments.
Turning the Tide by Phoebe Alexander is book five of the Eastern Shore Swingers Series. These books can be read in any order but characters from previous books do make appearances.
Luke feels stuck in a hopeless situation. He really doesn’t see any hope that it will change. He gets invited to the club and that’s where things might start to change. Connie doesn’t participate in the lifestyle but likes to spend time at the club with her friends. She feels an instant connection to Luke but then she finds out about his baggage. Is their connection worth the trouble it’s causing?
This book was so good and probably my most favorite out of the series. Luke is such a great guy trapped in an impossible situation. The characters in this series are all unique but very relatable. I like that the characters make appearances outside of their own book. They are family. This book was an excellent read!
I give Turning the Tide (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 5) by Phoebe Alexander, 5 stars.
This book was absolutely amazing! I originally picked this series up because I live on the Eastern Shore and let’s face it, there are not many fiction books about this area. But I was pleasantly surprised at just how good each book has been. This being book five in the series, there is a potential for things to get stale, it happens in some series. But that is not the case here. The main characters are so great, you can’t help but love them. You can really understand where Luke is coming from and you can understand why he falls for Connie. There are many emotions as well as surprises you will not see coming. I could not put the book down!
This a romance with some hot and heavy scenes and with the series revolving around a swingers club, so if you are not opened-minded, this may not be the book for you. But of you are, you need to pick up this book as well as the whole series. The author is exceptional and weaves a wonderful story you won’t want to escape from.
Turning the Tide by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read that will turn you. This is the fifth novel in the Eastern Swingers series, but they can all be read as stand-alone, they truly can as I have read most of them out of sequence. Luke is a very deep character and one that will at times make you question what you believe but then also feel a deep sympathy for him. Connie was a great woman, she makes reading her story easy. This is a complex love story, and as with true love, it never goes smoothly, just creates more passion and drama. The question is will it create a happy ending? That’s something I can’t tell you as you need to read this amazing story to find out.
Turning the Tide (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 5) by Phoebe Alexander
4 out of 5 stars
Phoebe Alexander is a fantastic author. She never ceases to amaze me. This fifth installment in the Eastern Shore Swingers series takes a different turn from the previous books.
*Caution to the tender hearted, while this book does not deal with physical abuse, it does discuss emotional and verbal abuse and I can understand how that may be a trigger for some people so if that is you, please read with caution.*
This book takes us on the journey on Luke. Luke has not been physically intimate with his wife in a long, long time and to make it worse..she is emotionally and verbally abusive. Luke has lost love. Barbara is little more than a master trying to control a servant.
Luke’s friend Cap convinces him to take a trip down to The Factory, an exclusive club he owns with his friends, to try to take his mind off of his problems and to see if he can “work out” some of his frustrations.
While there Luke meets Conne, who is the spark to his dying fire. But when Barbara, Luke’s sad excuse for a wife shows up and starts to cause trouble, things turn from Hot and Steamy to Drama and Suspense in a heartbeat.
I loved this book. The banter between Connie and Luke, the new dynamic of the relationships and the new topics and subjects that Ms. Alexander addressed with some very unconventional characters. I loved this book and series!
Turning the Tide is the fifth book in the Eastern Shore Swingers series by author Phoebe Alexander. When Cap invites Luke Cannon to the Factory, Luke does not really plan on anything happening. He is in a loveless marriage that has taken a quarter century of his life away from him leaving him a lonely man with very little hope in sight. Until he spots Connie, a sweet, sexy and fun woman who is everything that his wife is not. Just when Luke thinks that maybe his world is turning around for him things in his personal life go from bad to worse. Will Connie be everything he thinks she will? Or will she turn her back on him too?
I enjoyed this installment of the Eastern Shore series. While I liked Luke, he was a little too whiny for me, Connie though was a hoot, as well as independent, snarky and all-around fun. I enjoyed the mystery regarding Luke and I kind of would have enjoyed more of that and less of the shenanigans at the Factory, but then again that’s just one readers opinion.
Turning The Tide (Eastern Shore Swingers #5) By Phoebe Alexander
4 Stars!!!!
Another trip into the swingers and I wasn’t disappointed. The author really has a unique style and brings in a bit of drama to add to the story. I really enjoy how she manages to bring the lifestyl into light and how tastefully she does so.
I found myself really routing for Luke as you can see that he is in a bad situation. The chemistry between Connie is so explosive. The drama that unfolds in Luke’s life really adds to the story and the irony of Connie being the new nurse was just the best twist to the story. I really was on the edge of my seat as I read this book with the acts of his wife and practice partner it was such a twist. I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be reading more from this author and this series.
Turning the Tide, Eastern Shore Swingers #5, by Phoebe Alexander. This is the fifth book in the Eastern Shore Swingers Series and also one of many many books I have read by this author. I have loved every single book that I have read by Ms. Alexander. Once again we are brought back to the “secret Swingers club”.
I was so happy that Connie finally got her book. We met her as she was caring for her sister, Casey. Connie isn’t part of the lifestyle but soon finds herself at The Factory more. There she meets Luke….. the chemistry between them is great. There are things that could possibly keep them apart but is their relationship strong enough to overcome it???? Jump in and find out!!!!
Turning The Tide is the 5th book in the awesome Eastern Shore Swingers series by Phoebe Alexander. I have loved this series so far but have to say that Turning The Tide has been. By far, my favourite book in this series.
Having been ‘the woman scorned’ I wouldn’t have thought that I’d have sympathy for a man cheating on his wife and wanting to give him a massive high for doing so but this book brought out so many emotions from me.
Highly respected ENT doctor, Luke Cannon has not had sex with his wife for 10 years. Not only no sex, but no touching, kissing or cuddling. Nothing. Nada. To top it off his wife Barbara is a complete grade A bitch treating him like a doormat. Her excuse – sex is to painful and she is disabled. So it’s no wonder when Luke’s patient, Cap Sheldon invites him to the swingers club he owns, Luke decides, after much persuasion to go along and see what it’s all about. His life is about to change in a major way when he meets the lovely Connie on his first visit to the club.
To his horror, Luke then discovers that Connie is the new nurse his partner Jim has hired. There is a no fraternization policy at their business. That however is the least of Luke’s worries. Barbara is behaving strangely and Luke discovers major discrepancies in his finances.
What follows on is a fantastic story filled with so much mystery and suspense. In a true Eastern Shore Swingers book, it’s also filled with some very HOT sex scenes. This book is a definite page turner. I was glued to it and just couldn’t put it down. I have to say that I adored the character of Luke and Connie and even though Luke is a married man, I was rooting for him to cheat on his absolute bitch of a wife. She doesn’t deserve and amazing man like Luke.
This series has brought me much enjoyment in the last year and I’m so glad to read in the notes at the end of the book that the author plans to add more books to this series. They will definitely be getting added to my TBR list and I’d recommend this series to others. It’s a must read.
Turning the Tide by Phoebe Alexander is the fifth book in the Eastern Shore Swingers series. I love that Connie got her own story after meeting her her earlier in the series.
There were some hot moments between Luke and Connie, but what kept me glued to the book was everything going on in Luke’s life, both personal and business. Not sure why that grabbed me the way it did but I’m not going to complain.
Luke is a sweet man who has had life give him one too many bad hands, but his luck seems to improve when he meets Connie. But does it really?
Connie has to learn to trust again after her ex-husband destroyed every bit of what she had.
This is a great story about two mature adults getting a chance to get the love story right. It could be read as a standalone but I would recommend you start at the beginning of the series. You won’t be disappointed.
