Another man, another month! I love visiting The Fix and the calendar contest. Derek and Amanda meet at the bar and bam! He visits Austin monthly and they enjoy monthly hook-ups. With Derek now relocating to Austin his mission is to get the girl for keeps. This was another fun read. Don’t miss out on this group of friends, customers, and love at this bar!
Outstanding Book!
This is book 7 from the Man of the Month Series. This series about Derek Winston who’s family owns Winston Hotels. While in Austin on a business trip Derek happen to be at the Fix when his eyes landed on Amanda. Once he spotted her he was determined to have her. However Amanda was not your typical girl who wants a relationship. Not at all she’s all about having a good time.
Amanda is content on hooking up whenever Derek is in Austin. However Derek wants more than just a hookup. Can he show Amanda how good things can be if they were together?
I voluntarily received an ARC for a honest review.
Turn Me On is the HOTTEST of the Man of the Month series so far. The relationship between Amanda and Derek starts with an explosive night together and ignites a slow burning build from a sexy, steamy friendship to love.
Another quick read with great characters and wonderful story line.
I was provided a copy of this book so that I could leave an honest review.
Mr July of Man of The Month. I really liked this one. This one’s story was deeper than others and I really liked that.
I liked Derek and Amanda. The had bits and pieces in previous books, it was nice to read their whole story. I can’t wait for Mr August.
Great job!!!
Derek and Amanda were meant to be together from the moment their eyes meant. Excellent read and a must.
I am really enjoying this series by Julie. It is a little different from her other books in that the books are short (almost novellas) and a quick read. Mr. July is a little different from the other books so far in that it is about Derek and Amanda’s relationship that started way before the Man of the Month contest at the bar. Amanda and Derek met at the bar and it was an instant attraction. However Derek is only on business in Austin so the 2 have a one night stand that ends up being a regular hook up once a month when Derek comes to Austin for business. Amanda is fine with the situation since she is beating herself up over a bad relationship that kind of derailed her professional life as a real estate agent. The kicker is that Amanda and Derek are a perfect fit and once Derek decides he is moving to Austin, he wants more from Amanda but is unsure if Amanda wants the same thing. They both have personal issues to deal with and try to figure out what they both want. As things move along, Derek ends up being in the July Man of the Month contest and winning it.
I enjoyed reading about Amanda and Derek’s relationship since it started before the financial struggles of the bar but somehow they get involved with the contest to help out Amanda’s friends. Thanks for another romantic and quick read Julie!
4 I Want These Kind of Benefits Stars!!!
This is book seven in the Man of the Month series by Ms. Kenner and with every book that is released I fall more in love with the series. Derek and Amanda have one of those “friends with benefits” kind of relationships and it’s wowza hot!! But Derek has always wanted more yet Amanda doesn’t want things to change for oh so many reasons.
But, she’s moving to Austin and a lot of her excuses will go up in smoke with this move and Derek is planning to take full advantage of this new situation! As much as Amanda wants to protect her heart because of her last relationship, sometimes you just have to take the chance that this time, it’ll be different. I swooned, fanned myself and rooted for these two to find their way to each other because everyone deserves to be loved the way they’ve always hoped for. We also get a hint at what happens in Shake It Up with this book and I’m anxiously awaiting it’s release!
Turn Me On by J. Kenner is the seventh installment to the Man of the Month series and can most definitely be read as a standalone. So now onto the review of Mr. July. I must say things are sizzling hot especially when Kenner writes a story that centers on two individuals who shares a connection. Amanda and Derek have this understanding that their hookups are meant to be just casual. No strings attached. No feelings. Just casual sex when Derek is in Austin. But what happens when Derek relocates to Austin and he doesn’t want casual anymore but instead he wants forever? So can Derek find a way to win Amanda’s heart and show her this thing between them is something more?
If you haven’t read a J. Kenner book then I highly suggest you read this one. It was great mixture of friendship, sweet and sexy romance. Overall, it was a fun and entertaining read.
Turn Me On by J. Kenner is the seventh book in her new 12 book Man of the Month series. Told in dual POV this is the story of Amanda and Derek, secret lovers who meet one a month. She is happy with the status-quo while Derek wants to go all in.
Amanda has been burned before and is no longer willing to risk her emotional well-being or her career aspirations for something as ridiculous as a relationship. Meeting Derek was the most fortuitous of events as he wasn’t local and was only in town around once a month. Win-win as far as Amanda was concerned.
Derek likes Amanda. He knows she is wanting low-key and no-stings and he is fine with that – for a while. They agree to be monogamous and they start to spend as much time as they are able to each month, together. Derek decides Amanda is it for him and is determined to let her know. He isn’t prepared for how closed off her heart is and how definitive her plan to keep things simple truly is.
Well-written and well-paced, this was another great read and I’m excited with how each of the upcoming characters are gently weaved into the plots in earlier stories without being obtrusive to the current story. Enjoy!
Turn Me On by J. Kenner (Man of the Month #7) is a fun and fast story about how something casual can grow into a deeper connection and something much, much, more. This story can be read as a stand alone and starts out timeline-wise before even the first man of the month novel and encompasses many of the events in the other books. Amanda Franklin is recovering from a bad previous relationship and getting her real estate career back on track is her only focus. So when the enticing Derek flirts with her from across The Fix and it turns into a night of passion with no strings since he is headed out of town it’s just what she is looking for. When it turns into a monthly thing its just more of a good thing.
Derek Winston is living the life his family’s heritage decided for him. The chain of upscale hotels bearing the Winston name has afforded him many opportunities, but also burdens. Amanda presents many delicious opportunities as well, but none of the burdens. The longer they know each other the more a casual hook up turns into a friendship with benefits and a real relationship, which scares Amanda because of her past history, but Derek is different and knows that they can be something more.
I enjoyed how Turn Me On gave us a story that ran concurrently with the other novels and integrated with them, while not needing them. Amanda and Derek are a fun couple who both have ambitions and ones that each other helps realize just by being supportive. The book was a fast read, but because of the length of time it covers it creates a feeling of progression and length to that was nice.
Overall, every Man of the Month novel has been fun and interesting in it’s own right and I’m beginning to have trouble picking a favorite. Turn Me On by J. Kenner was another winner that I eagerly devoured. Fun, fast, passionate and romantic, I very much recommend it.
(I voluntarily reviewed an advance review copy of this book I received for free from the publisher in exchange for my open and honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.)
Once again J. Kenner has done it. Turn Me On is the seventh book in the Man of the Month series. Derek and Amanda are two people that live in to different parts of Texas and just so happened to meet at the bar The Fix on Sixth. They had a hot and sexy night together and that was supposed to be it. I love the stories of this series because you always give to see more of the other characters from the different books.
Boy is it heating up this summer with the seventh book in the Man of the Month series. This is one of my favorite series and the books just keep getting more seductive. Derek is the heir to a hotel chain and is a reformed playboy. He is focusing on work and does not have time for relationships. However, one night he sees Amanda at the Fix on Sixth bar. His switch is flipped and he is determined to have her. Amanda is a career driven woman especially after she allowed her ex-boyfriend to impair her job and then leave her. All she wants is a one-night stand and that is perfectly fine with Derek. However, their one-night turns into once a month whenever Derek is in town. The more time they spend together the more they are drawn to each other. What will Amanda do when Derek makes it known that he plans to move to Austin? Can Amanda find a way to let go of her past and realize that not all men are created equally? Will Derek stay and work with Amanda to show her that their relationship can work and that he will not leave her? This is one story that you will read in one sitting because it is just that good. I cannot wait for the next book to read Landon and Taylor’s story.
I volunteered to read an arc of this book.
Mr. July is up in J. Kenner’s Man of the Month series, and this time around, Kenner shakes things up a bit because Derek and Amanda’s relationship doesn’t follow the quick and dirty timeframe that many of the other couples experienced; in fact, their monthly hook ups have been occurring for almost a year, and while their relationship was limited based on their once a month sexual encounters, with Derek’s recent move to Austin, Derek and Amanda now have a chance to make things a bit more permanent, but that will only occur if Derek can prove that what they share is worth the risk.
I haven’t read a lot of romantic story lines where the heroine is the one who is content with a purely sexual arrangement, but that’s the case in Turn Me On; Amanda’s been burned in the past by the men she chose to give her heart to, so she’s content with what she shares with Derek, even if they share an intense attraction and are beyond compatible in and outside the bedroom. But while I can’t blame Amanda for being gun shy, it’s quite evident that Derek is nothing like the men she’s previously been with, which means that if Amanda can find a way to not dwell on her past and focus on the present and all that Derek gives her, she’ll realize that besides Derek being the perfect man to be Mr. July in The Fix’s calendar, he’s also the man who has enough patience to wait for Amanda to realize just how good they can be for more than just a sexual release.
Turn Me On is a quick and steamy read that brings two people together who fall in lust at first sight and then proceed to give into their desire for each other every chance they get, and while that only equates to once a month because Derek’s job takes him all over the world, there’s now a chance for Derek and Amanda to build on their amazing sex life and grow into something Derek wants more than anything…he just has to get Amanda to realize that that’s what she wants as well.
J. Kenner has, once again, created a couple who is highly compatible and then as she works on bringing them together beyond sexual hook-ups, she surrounds them with a fantastic crew of secondary characters who help the hero and heroine face facts about what they want and also force them to realize that past relationships have no bearing on the present because what they’re building together is so worth the risk.
4 Poison Apples
Turn Me On is my favorite (so far) in the MOTM series. (Do I say that with every book I read in this series??? LOL) I adore Amanda and Derek! These two had the same thing in mind…one and done. No strings attached. But with the one night they had, they could not get enough of each other. I loved that they had so much chemistry and need that has these tow nearly ripping each others clothes off when they get together. The heat and intensity that Amanda and Derek have was either going to break them or weld their hearts together. I was hoping it would be the latter. The sexy time with these two had my heart pounding! I could not get enough of these two and I loved walking through their story and knowing what was happening in the background. You can read this story as a standalone, but reading the books prior gives you a solid foundation of what is happening offline.
Turn Me On was a book that I have been anticipating. I stayed in bed and just read an amazing story. Kenner is still killing it with this series! I love the how she stays focus on the characters and yet keeps the main story behind to still shine through. Now if only there really was a MOTM contest, I would be first in line to vote. Another 5 star read for this girl!
I was looking forward to Derek and Amanda’s story and it did not disappoint! This hot, sexy, funny, romantic tale kept me thoroughly entertained while Derek and Amanda fall for each other. Amanda is very relationship shy, but each month they meet she falls for Derek a little more. Derek gets there way before Amanda and when she finally realizes how she feels……these two are perfect for each other! Loved it from beginning to end!
This was a great addition to the Man Of The Month series!!
These two have a bit of a different relationship, since it’s usually meeting monthly, but I loved the chemistry between them. Derek and Amanda were both facing career struggles and issues when they first met, but being together seem to help them grow not just emotionally, but career wise to. They went for what they wanted. Add in some of my favorite secondary characters and it was great!!
This is definitely a must read!!
This story grabbed me from the start! Strangers exchanging heated glances, witty banter & heavy flirting lead to some serious heat. I really liked that both Derek & Amanda are strong, confident characters. They’re career driven and know what they want and a serious relationship does not fit in their plans. Semi-regular hookups with no strings or complications is fun & suits both of them just fine…until it’s no longer enough.
Derek Winston, the ever patient, endearing Man of the Month! Be still my heart!!
J. Kenner’s MOM series are fun, flirty and sexy reads. Turn Me On fits in perfectly, bringing two well known characters that we have seen throughout and enticing us with their romantical drama to find their HEA. Each of these books that Julie delivers are full of heartfelt emotions that sinks into your skin while reading. Her characters become one with the reader and you truly feel like apart of the team of The Fix on Sixth.
“You must be somebody.”
“Oh, I am.”
“Who?”
“I’m the man who’s going to make you beg.”
If you have kept up with the series from the beginning then you have met Amanda in Down On Me, Jenna’s best friend. Her attitude throughout the book had me questioning her antics, her demeanor… cause really, who could resist Derek? Amanda has been burned from a past relationship which screwed her over on love and business, but apart of me felt like it took to long for her to overcome her hardships. Derek was the perfect gentleman, waiting patiently for her when really, he should have given up. It takes a strong, loveable man who knows what he wants, fights for his love to win her over.
As ever, I like how Julie always ends each book in this series openly for the next novel to take its place. Turn Me On ends beautifully for Detective Landon’s love quest in Shake It Up, coming soon.
My heart is still with Mr. June, but have you picked your Man of the Month yet?
Reviews by the Wicked Reads Review Team
Ruthie –
This is the seventh book in the series, but takes us back in time a little, which is really fun. I would recommend that you read them in order, and if you’ve not started the series yet, then you are in for a fun treat indeed.
Amanda is a regular at The Fix, and sister to radio DJ Nolan, who has had his story already! After being burned badly by her ex-boyfriend, she is all about no-strings affairs. However, one night at the bar she sees someone who definitely peaks her interest. The rest, in the words of all good romances, is history – but watching that history unfold is highly enjoyable, very hot, and clues us in on some bar issues, as well as the needs of these two cautious, yet very attached individuals.
Perfect next book, and the hints about book eight make me want the days to pass quicker already!
Reviewers on the Wicked Reads Review Team were provided a free copy of Turn Me On (Man of the Month #7) by J. Kenner to read and review for this tour.
Amanda suffered a set back, the man she was in love left her, told her it was over between them.
But then she met Derek and they been seeing each other once a month for over a year.
Derek wants more then once a month, and now that he is moving to Austin he is ever so determined to have more of her, he wants it to be permanent.
Amanda is happy with the way things are, will she overcome her fear and let go, will she admit that she loves him. Read it to find out, well worth reading it, characters are cool and the story moves fast.
