Five hot stars! Let Derek be the Man of YOUR month!
Wow! J. Kenner has done it again! It is amazing and wonderful how she has created the hottest and sinful male characters for the Man of the Month Series! Each one is wet dream personified. They are too perfect to be true.
Nothing can be compared to read a great book! Turn Me On is a stunning and all-consuming book that holds a strong intensity that will knock you up! It has the right amount of everything. The plot is refreshing. The characters are complex and fierce. This book is about two people who don’t want any strings, they only want mind-blowing pleasure. The pace is fast. Once you start this book, you won’t be able to put it down. I assure you that you will devour it! It is time to meet Mr. July!
Amanda is a professional woman. She is one of the best in the real state world. She has worked too hard. She is the kind of woman who learns from her mistakes. She won’t sacrifice her career for any guy who won’t stick around. She has a bad experience and since then she guarded her heart. She is in a stage of her life in which she does not want a relationship with any man. But Derek is a temptation she is not able to resist. Falling in bed with him is going to be so damn good that she will want to repeat. He will change her world. The man will break the wall that has been guarding her heart.
Derek and Amanda make an explosive couple. One night won’t be enough for them. The attraction will be so heavy that they will make an arrangement too convenient for both. They have many things in common. They know what they want. They are good for each other. Things between them will go smooth until one of them will want more.
Mr. July is going to melt you like an ice-cream! (The same way he did with “poor” Amanda) Derek is a hot, handsome man. He is intense. He is the kind of guy who can get under your skin in not time. Who will be able to resist him? Not me… Will you?
If you are new to the series… what on earth are you waiting for? Go and start right now! Each book worth the time and the money spent on them. J. Kenner never disappoints her readers. Turn Me On is a must read you should not miss!
5 Star Review Turn me On (Man of the Month #7) by J Kenner
The seventh book in the series and is Amanda and Derek’s story and wow what a story. Another fun quick story which flowed well and was a wonderful read; in fact this may now be my favourite so far in the series.
This series has fast become one of my go to series, with each story unique and different. In Turn Me On, Amanda and Derek meet by chance and a one night stand, turns into a regular monthly booty call, or is it?
Amanda is determined that she will not get into a relationship as work must come first. Derek on the other hand has been a bit of a player in the past, but he has now decided that that is not all it is cracked up to be. He believes that Amanda could well be “the one” for him.
What happens when Derek moves to Austin and wants to move their “relationship” to another level? Amanda is not thrilled at his news as she is happy with their current arrangement. I loved the development of their relationship over time and I must say that I really loved Derek and Amanda, separately and together.
Will Derek be able to convince Amanda to take a leap of faith and show her that together they can have it all? Or will Amanda be too scared to take another chance at love? One click now and find out.
The books in this series can easily be read as stand alone, but since they are not that long and a quick and easy read I would recommend you one click them all. I am excited to see what happens in the next book; bring on Mr. August.
“Friends with Ultra Benefits.”
This is most definitely a ‘binge-reading-worthy’ series. Each book is about a different couple, but they also include the other characters that were introduced in previous books. Sometimes the timelines overlap and you get to enjoy seeing a situation from a different character’s POV. But what you will most definitely enjoy in every single book is a passionate connection and a group of awesome support characters that never run out of witty banter to keep you entertained.
Amanda is best friends with Jenna, I met her in Down On Me, the first book in the Man of the Month series. Those two are very funny together. I found it especially amusing that they were on the phone together when Amanda saw Derek for the first time. She described him to her bestie as, “those eyes are the kind that you swipe right for, you know?”
Of course, I start every book knowing that I’m gonna get my HEA, the author guarantees it. But that never stops me from getting caught up in the drama and being worried when the couple hits a bump in the road on the way. Derek & Amanda’s chemistry is immediate and off the charts. I wanted them to stay stuck like glue from the get-go, but that’s not how Amanda saw things. She was determined to avoid a relationship at all costs. She didn’t even want her friends to know she hooked up with him, knowing they would try to change her mind. And I confess, I was guilty of doing exactly that myself. What? You don’t talk to the characters you are reading about?
I know I’ve said it before, but it bears repeating. I’m loving this Man of the Month series and my only regret is that there aren’t more than 12 months in a year. The author ends each story with a tease of the upcoming story, leaving her readers excited for more. Color me excited. The line forms here…
Another man of the month and this time we have Mr July.
Derek and Amanda have had a good thing going and it works well for them that is until Derek is back in Austin for good but he wants more and will do anything to get what he wants. Thing is Amanda is happy with the way things are and doesn’t want anything serious. Can Derek convince Amanda to make it more than once a month kind of thing?
I am totally in love with this series and the characters are amazing, you are drawn in with all the drama.
Man of the Month is one of my favourite series and book 7, Turn Me On is for me the best so far. What happens when a couple that hook up once a month decide they want more, what happens when it seems that only one of them wants more do you risk losing what you have ……
Mr July was a perfect love story, it wasn’t rushed, it was about two people getting to know each other and falling in love, it started off as a hook up and turned into so much more. This book felt real to me because it’s about real feelings, emotions and fears, the chemistry was sizzling hot and the attraction was instant but it was only ever meant to be a once a month Hook Up ……….
I love my catch ups at The Fix because every book is about friends and lovers and every story makes you feel like you are visiting and catching up with friendships formed over the previous books. J.Kenner is doing a great job with her Man of the Month Series and I can’t wait to meet Mr August.
Amanda and Derek are both career driven individuals. Their chance encounter at The Fix on Sixth leads to an incredible night which turns into hook-ups each time Derek is in town. As Amanda is working to rebuild her real estate career, she doesn’t want any distractions, yet Derek keeps entering her thoughts. Derek has a different challenge as he works to take on more responsibility in his family’s business but wanting to blaze his own trail. His connection to Amanda is something he never expected. Can these two strong-willed, determined individuals find a path to happiness together? Another fabulous installment to the Man of the Month series. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
TURN ME ON by J. Kenner is book Seven in the Man of the Month series. This is the story of Derek and Amanda. This book is easily a standalone book I thought.
Amanda and Derek got together once a month when Derek came in to town which has been going on for about a year. Amanda was hurt by a past relationship with also lost her some ground with her career so not wanting to commit it seem the perfect hookup. Derek to has been all about work but he has been taken with Amanda from the first sight. But now it seem that they need to move past the one night a month to a life time.
I really enjoyed their story!
No No No No No Not fair. Not fair at all. I just hate that I am loosing my focus. Every book I say this is my favorite and I know who I want for my man of the month and then I read the next one. This is so not cool. I am weak over Derek and Amanda. They both have baggage or reasons to stay away but the more they share the more they want. The author plays this so well. The tenderness and attention, the desire and need, the vulnerability, it’s all in here alone with friends from other reads. Yes it is a standalone but so far there hasn’t been one book that hasn’t won me over and made me want to know the next Man of The Month!!
TURN ME ON is the seventh instalment in J. Kenner’s contemporary, adult MAN OF THE MONTH erotic, romance novella series focusing on a fund raiser for the popular Austin, Texas bar known as The Fix. This is billionaire hotel developer for the family owner Winston Hotel chain Derek Winston, and real estate agent Amanda Franklin. TURN ME ON can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary, although I recommend reading the series in order for backstory and cohesion.
SOME BACKGROUND: The Fix on Sixth, a local Austin hangout and bar, is in desperate need of renovations and a quick influx of cash so a plan is put into motion, by a group of regulars, a plan that includes a Man of the Month calendar competition, a recipe book, and a reality show aimed at rehabbing the bar.
NOTE: TURN ME ON is a bit of a departure from the series in that most of the events and story line take place in the months prior to the Man of the Month competition, celebrations and current events.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Amanda and Derek) TURN ME ON follows the building relationship and atypical arrangement between Austin real estate agent Amanda Franklin, and hotel developer Derek Winston of the Winston Hotel chain. Derek’s once monthly visits to Austin comes with the side benefit of real estate agent Amanda Franklin, a woman he met on one of his visits to Austin, Texas. Neither one looking for a permanent relationship but an unspoken commitment for the foreseeable future finds Derek and Amanda agreeing to a once –monthly meet up when Derek comes to town. As the months pass, they will each reconsider their ‘casual’ arrangement as they struggle with jealousy, resentment and loneliness in the absence of one another. Derek will battle his father for his independence and the potential future of the Winston Boutiques division, as Amanda has second thoughts about their current arrangement.
We are introduced to Derek’s best friend Jared Ingram-a man who struggles with his own demons; Derek’s sister Mellie, and their father Anthony Winston who has little faith in his son’s personal affairs or friendship with Jared Ingram.
TURN ME ON is a sexy, provocative and playful story line. The premise is engaging and enjoyable: the romance is sensual and passionate; the characters are captivating and engaging.
I’ve been looking forward to Amanda & Derek’s story since the teaser in “Man of the Month” #6. This did not disappoint. Amanda & Derek start as casual, once/month meet-up buddies. They become so much more and it’s amazing reading their story sizzle off the pages. This is a must read as we catch up on a lot of previous “Man of the Month” couples too!
This was my first book by Julie Kenner and it was a great read. You won’t be disappointed.
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy short novel Turn Me On: A Man Of The Month Novel book 7 by J. Kenner and this review was given freely.
Austin realtor Amanda has to reevaluate her priorities and fear of commitment when hotel heir Derek Winston moves to Austin and seeks more than their occasional one night stand. Frustrated with pressure from his father and not willing to fight his attraction to Amanda 36 year old Derek has to reevaluate his life, image, and place in the family company. This book starts out in the time frame before book one and continues through to the present via short scenes in the lives of Amanda and Nolan both separate and together peppered with dramatic scenes such as a suicide attempt and an accident but culminating in a suspenseful teaser to the next book.
I love reading these man of the month books. Julie has done a phenomenal job in writing these books and connecting them with equally strong women. I love how this book started from the end to the beginning and concluded with a mystery yet to be solved. As for the characters they are long time friends getting reacquainted and expanding their circle. One act of kindness has turned into a life long love and family.
Sensational! Book #7 of the Man of the Month Series will definitely heat you up! When Derek Winston, the insanely sexy hunk heir to the Winston fortune of Winston Hotels waltzes into Austin Texas….his life will never be the same. Single and determined to show his father he can take over the hotel business and add a little more…a man who gets what ever he wants and when he meets Amanda Franklin, the young beautiful woman focused on her own career in Real Estate….he is determined to have her. Only problem is she doesn’t do relationships…..but she is not opposed to the “hook up”….. surprising that these two characters would meet as a one night stand…. their chemistry will zap you… agreeing to this once a month arrangement when Derek returns to Austin for business is perfect for Amanda. Until somewhere along the way Derek realizes that he wants more…
Only problem is that when Derek’s best friend experiences a life changing event it affects him in ways he never looked at before and he has decided to make changes in his own life and moves back to Austin to make a life with Amanda….. In order to win her heart he enters the Mr. July Man of the Month at the Fix on Sixth is and wins hands down…..with the help of her best friends Jenna & Reece (Book #1 of MOTM) is he able to steal her heart. A very enjoyable light read, entertaining, engaging story……
Love this Man of the Month series. Excellent characters built so well for a quick and fun romantic read.
Although this story is technically about Mr. July, the Man of the Month competition actually takes a back seat in this slow-building romance between Amanda, best friend to Jenna and stepsister of Nolan (Mr. April) and Derek, friend to Parker (Mr. June) and Landon (Mr. August). Amanda and Derek meet and begin their monthly hookups long before the financial problems (and the MOtM contest) with The Fix on Sixth start. I enjoyed the way this story was told from a unique perspective since we relive some of the scenes from previous books, but this time it’s from Amanda’s POV. Their mutually agreed upon “same time next month” sexual relationship works for both of them, until they both independently start to realize their feelings for one another are heading out of casual territory. Amanda was deeply hurt after a relationship not only broke her heart but affected her professional career as well. She fears that history will repeat itself if she gives into her deepening feelings for Derek.
I liked the pacing of this story, though their HEA ending kind of picked up too quickly. Would have preferred a bit more reaction from their Fix friends once they found out these two had been carrying on for over a year! Still a very enjoyable read!
OMFG!! I am so in love with this one <3 I know I've been saying this for nearly every book in this series but they are just that good. And there was just something about Amanda and Derek's story that really endeared them to me.
I love the idea behind the story line - the one-night stand that becomes something so much more. I really enjoyed reading how the character's feelings change, how the wild passion between them soon burns brighter and engages their hearts. But of course, their relationship is not a walk in the park. Old wounds keep them Amanda and Derek from really pursuing a relationship. But sometimes, you just have to take a leap of faith.
I am not going to go into any more details but I can honestly say that I want more. I can't wait to read Landon and Taylor's story. It is definitely going to be intriguing.
Amanda and Derek met one night and decided that they would meet up every month for something casual with no strings but they never told their hearts that. Derek decides that he wants more but doesn’t want to scare Amanda off. Finally he has to tell her and risk it all after a year of holding back. Amanda is scared to allow her heart to be broke again, can she drop that final wall between her the man she loves? I love this series and when Mr. July comes into the picture he is perfect. Both Amanda and Derek has challenges but this story is just perfect. I couldn’t put this book down. In this series this was definitely my favorite read. Highly recommend this book and series.
The further we get into this series, the better the stories get! Derek and Amanda’s story was a bit different than the others, took time to cultivate the relationship, which was a nice change. Loved the chemistry between the two, really enjoy Amanda’s family, especially Nolan, and the writing was on the wall for me with Jared. Glad to see things go in the direction they did, am really looking forward to what will hopefully be a book to tie things together when all is said and done. Great series so far, really looking forward to Landon and Taylor’s story next.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book.
This has been such a cute, and enjoyable series so far. I look forward each book, and I cant pick my Man of the Month, I love them all. Each are so special, and each story is so unique but really love how they all interconnect with each other.
In this story we meet Derek and Amanda. Both don’t want nothing serious, and both committed to their job. But soon both find they enjoy each other’s company and how much they crave for more of what they got with with each other, just both care scared to make that leep of faith into something they are not sure they are ready for.
I am truly loving this series. J Kenner always gives nothing but the best reads. Shes one of my go to author.
