Amanda and Derek are as casual as you can get with their relationship. After meeting and having an instant attraction, the two decide to meet up once a month, which seems to work for both of them.
The relationship between Amanda and Derek really seemed to jump right off the pages of the book. Even though this book is short, we get to see a years worth of their “non-relationship” and how their feeling grew into so much more.
After the last few books, Turn Me On was a refreshing change of pace. I truly enjoyed the relationship between Amanda and Derek and enjoyed going back to the Fix!
I swear each book in this series is perfectly written!
Turn Me On is the seventh book in the Man of the Month series, but each can be read as a standalone.
Amanda and Derek were just amazing together! This is everything you have come to know and love from this series – Steamy, sweat and lots of feels!!
Five MORE stars for this series!!
This “Man of the Month” keeps getting better and better. Amanda, cute, funny and does not want a serious relationship (due to being burned in the past). Derek, sexy, hot, smart and not looking for anything permanent. But as the say goes when you least expect it, expect it.
These too are amazing together. A sexy, heart felt story you will not be able to put down.
Cannot wait for next month!!!
Across a crowded bar, Derek and Amanda have eyes only for each other, and one night of out of this world sex leads them to an agreement to have a hook up each time he comes back to town. But what starts out as no strings attached sex ends up with both of them in over their heads. Can they put aside their agreement and continue with a real relationship? Or will they end it all with no commitment? Once again, J. Kenner does not disappoint. This series keeps getting better and better. Absolutely loved it.
Meet Mr July. Amanda and Derek’s eyes meet across the bar and the chemistry is palpable. They then decide that “when they are in Austin” they will get together for some no strings fun. Which works until Derek moves to Austin permanently. Amanda was so hurt by her previous relationship that she has affected a party girl persona, but deep down she just wants to protect her heart. Derek has to make Amanda realize that not all men are untrustworthy and unreliable and with the odd bump along the way, he does just that. I love this series, and although 5 and 6 went a little off the boil for me, this one is simmering right back on.
I really enjoyed Amanda and Derek’s story. I wasn’t sure if I would as “hook ups” aren’t my style, but, as usual, Ms Kenner can turn my perceptions around. This “hook up” wasn’t just a one night stand as it takes place for a year. Sometimes, it takes a person a long time to trust again after getting hurt. This was an easy read and could be read in an afternoon.

Thoughts: Hello Derek!! Another drool worthy man of the month that you can’t help but want to claim as a book boyfriend. What’s really fun about this one is that we get to see some different POV’s of some scenes from previous books since this one technically starts before book 1 of the series. Don’t worry though, if for some weird reason you don’t read the series you won’t be lost. There wasn’t as much about the bar in this one which was somewhat of a bummer but made sense due to the timeline. Plus these characters aren’t as involved with the bar like the other characters so far. I really liked that it was a bit different by not having so much focus on the bar. The main focus was the journey to the HEA and it was awesome!
Please note that I received a complimentary copy of this work and chose to write a review.
Amanda is a real estate agent who has had a messy breakup and has decided to focus on her career. She was overlooked for promotion because of last relationship. She is determined not to make same mistake again. She goes to see friends at bar she always goes to but that evening a man with glasses catches her eye. She thinks he’s checking her out but she’s determined to ignore the connection she feels. She finds out he secretly paid for her drink. She walks out of bar and there is “glasses” as she calls him. He introduces himself as Derek and says he wants to get to know her. Her decision could change everything. Does she stick to being single or take a chance with Derek? I loved this book, it’s part of Man of Month series, every month gets better and better!
“Ever since we walked into this hotel, the staff’s had their eye on you. And the service is excellent. You must be somebody”
“Oh, I am.”
“Who?”
“I’m the man who’s going to make you beg.”
Well, hello Mr. July!! A hot man for a hot month! I have enjoyed reading this series so much. Each book a different couple, each book steamier than the last!
Derek Winston, heir to the Winston Hotel Empire, is never in one place too long. His job takes him away, and often. He has no time for relationships but finds time, and willing women, to keep him satisfied. Until her. She changes the game. What started out as a standing monthly hook-up is no longer enough for him. Now that he’s moving to Austin, he’s on a mission to convince her that their monthly meetings need to turn into forever.
Amanda Franklin lost her focus once. She won’t let it happen again. No more giving her heart blindly to a man. When an amazing night turns in to the perfect arrangement, she couldn’t be happier. A monthly booty-call with a sexy man – no strings. What more could she ask for? Everything. But, will he want to change the terms of their arrangement too, or is she just setting herself up for more heartache?
I’m sad that there are only 5 more months to go!! At the same time, I’m excited that there are still 5 more months to go!! Bring on Mr. August!!
Another good story in this series. This story spans over a year of Derek and Amanda’s relationship as they meet and have a monthly standing hook up. Derek decides he wants to much more, but can he convince Amanda?
As with the rest of the series, this is a shorter book. You will see a lot of the characters you have seen throughout the series. Amanda and Derek’s relationship starts before Jenna moves back home and gets together with Reece, so we see a lot of the characters who have now found their person as single people. The story kept me entertained and we have met another man of the month. Can’t wait for the next one!
J. Kenner has done it again…Another Man of the Month, Another great book. This book gives us Derek and Amanda’s journey from monthly meets to living in the same city. The only problem is that only one of them want to take the leap.
Both halves of this couple are in a dedicated relationship with their careers and neither of them have plans to change it. When push comes to shove and feelings are expressed they have to trust each other enough to fall.
I loved this book and as always the writing is amazing. The whole series is one that should not be missed! I can’t wait for the next book!
Amanda and Derek find their own instant chemistry after their eyes meet across the bar at The Fix, even though they do not talk until leaving. What could have been creepy turned out to be the start of a year long, once a month hook up. Slow simmer? Not so much when they have more contact than most couples do who live in the same town by constant texts, calls, and Skype. Amanda has been burned in the past by getting involved and then losing out and vows to not get involved in a relationship again but this time even though she tells herself and Derek this is not a relationship it sure does feel like one. Derek Winston is a busy man and his job has him traveling around the world most days of the month but he looks forward to getting back to Austin and that is what turns out to be where his heart is. With his crazy life can he convince Amanda what they have is real and worth taking a chance on?
This one was not like the rest of the Man of the Month books as it didn’t take place over 2 weeks and almost entirely in The Fix but it did start in The Fix and end there. I do highly recommend this one though!
When I started reading I couldn’t put it down I read the book in one day.J Kenner is magnifysent writer.I cannot wait to read more of her books.Keep up the great work. You should definitely read this book.
Final Score – 4 Stars!
The Man of the Month Series continues with Amanda and Derek’s road to finding their bliss. Their instant chemistry is immediate and doesn’t waiver, however Amanda is gunshy after a previous failed relationship. Derek is a bit jaded at the notion of love and HEA, but with Amanda, for the first time ever he’s willing it give it a try.
It starts out just a casual one night stand – both understanding the stakes and neither looking for anything more. However, one night turns into the start of a year long, once a month hook up. Amanda vows not to get too invested in Derek. Derek is traveling around the world for his job, but the person he looks forward to getting back to is Amanda.
How can relationship work when one person has one foot out the door and the other is never in one place for too long? Can these two souls have is something real ? Something worth taking a chance on?
This book is different from the others in that it takes place during the course of a year and I loved getting to see the relationship progress from casual hook-up to a real life one. I definitely recommend sinking your teeth into this little gem – it’s not long, but fast and it certainly packs a punch!
“those eyes are the kind you swipe right for, you know?”
I know I’m a broken record after I read a J. Kenner book, but I absolutely can not get enough of this series. I’m going to need a contest of my own to whittle down my own winner. I loved, loved, loved Mr. July. There was such a sense of maturity in building this relationship. Real emotions, fears, hopes, struggles, support and chemistry.
“You must be somebody.” “Oh, I am.” “Who?” He leaned forward, his expression so intense it made her heart skip a beat. “I’m the man who’s going to make you beg.””
As these books progress you feel like you could hang out at The Fix and jump into these friendships. There is something about each contestant and his other half that You could see in your own lifelong friends.
“I guess the question now is, which one of us is going to beg. And for what?”
The little glimpse you get into Mr. August will make you swoon. Anxiously awaiting his arrival.
While overall I did like this book, it’s just not my favorite from this series. This book starts in July of the previous year, so all the couples from the first six books aren’t together yet.
From one night stand to the ultimate friends with benefits to having it all. Derek and Amanda are a flirty cute couple with some fun sexy times, but not really super hot and steamy like some of the other couples we’ve met. Where most of the books have the various characters revolving in and out because so much of the story occurs at the bar, that’s not the case with this book. It seems like a lot of the book takes place outside of the bar. Because of the length of the book and the jumps in timeline, I feel like something is missing. You do get some different POVs from other characters and get the setup for Mr. August. I’m already anticipating the next book and plan a full on binge reread right before the 12th book premiers.
