Jim Butcher’s breakthrough #1 New York Times bestseller starring Chicago’s only professional wizard, Harry Dresden. When it comes to the magical ruling body known as the White Council, Harry is thought of as either a black sheep or a sacrificial lamb. And none hold him in more disdain than Morgan, a veteran Warden with a grudge against anyone who bends the rules. But now, Morgan is in trouble. … Morgan is in trouble. He’s been accused of cold-blooded murder—a crime with only one, final punishment.
He’s on the run, wanting his name cleared, and he needs someone with a knack for backing the underdog. So it’s up to Harry to uncover a traitor within the Council, keep Morgan under wraps, and avoid coming under scrutiny himself. And a single mistake may cost someone his head.
Someone like Harry…

Turn Coat is phenomenal. Harry Dresden’s voice, expertly penned by Jim Butcher, pulls me through each action packed page.
In Turn Coat, we enter the long-hinted-at metaplot of the insidious Black Council. For fans of the series, this has been a long time coming. It’s exciting to finally pull back part of the curtain.
(WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD)
The true joy of this story is the relationship between Harry and his long-time nemesis, Morgan. Morgan, a Warden of the White Council, was Harry’s “probation officer” in the first book, Storm Front, and arguably the first villain of the series. From the start, Morgan hates Harry, doesn’t like the way he practices magic, his attitude, or his recklessness. Morgan believes Harry is one step away from becoming a warlock.
Even after the number of times Harry has saved the world, Morgan retains his sour opinion. But in Turn Coat, the tables turn. All of a sudden, Morgan is on the run, hunted by the White Council for a heinous crime, and it’s up to Harry to save him.
Harry’s nobility climbs to an all-time high in this story where he must defend Morgan, who STILL HATES HARRY even as he tries to prove Morgan’s innocence.
Well done, Mr. Butcher. You keep me glued to the page, and you continue to add depth to these characters we love so much.
For anybody who has read any of the previous Harry books, It’s a must
as always a great Dresden tale
Dresden file books are very well written and entertaining with characters you care about.
I love this series
The Dresden books are all good. I recommend starting at the first one (Storm Front) as relationships evolve over time and the first few will give you a good grounding for the story in Turncoat. Excellent series.
Always thumbs up for Harry Dresden!
This is part of a series. Don’t start it if you like to sleep.
Jim Butcher writes a great book. nuff said.
I love everything Jim Butcher writes
I recommend this entire brilliant series. But dont start here, start with the first book, Storm Front, and go from there. I wouldn’t skip around as there are things that happen along the way. This series is 15+ books long and Butcher is still writing, and young. So we can anticipate more, and believe me, YOU WILL WANT MORE HARRY DRESDEN IN YOUR LIFE.
Great series!
As ail the other books I have read by Jim it was great . Keep writing and I will keep reading
Love the entire series! Seriously, if you want a good series, the Dresden wizard books are for you.
really enjoyed the magic system, and the depth og characterization
Jim Butcher is one of my favourite contemporary novelists. My only complaint is that it is so long between Dresden Files books.
I love Jim Butcher’s writing, his characters, his sense of humor. Start with the first book in the Dresden series, and enjoy!
Very entertaining, fun read. Engaging characters. Imaginative.
This is my favorite series of all time, Love it!
This book kept me up several nights and got me up early more than once. I have not read all of the Harry Dresden books, but I didn’t have to; vital information was given as needed. I plan to read more books by Jim Butcher.
