#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In the heart of Trenton, N.J., a killer is out to make sure someone gets his just desserts. Larry Virgil skipped out on his latest court date after he was arrested for hijacking an eighteen-wheeler full of premium bourbon. Fortunately for bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, Larry is just stupid enough to attempt almost the exact same crime again. Only this time he flees … crime again. Only this time he flees the scene, leaving behind a freezer truck loaded with Bogart ice cream and a dead body—frozen solid and covered in chocolate and chopped pecans.
As fate would have it, Stephanie’s mentor and occasional employer, Ranger, needs her to go undercover at the Bogart factory to find out who’s putting their employees on ice and sabotaging the business. It’s going to be hard for Stephanie to keep her hands off all that ice cream, and even harder for her to keep her hands off Ranger. It’s also going to be hard to explain to Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli, why she is spending late nights with Ranger, late nights with Lula and Randy Briggs—who are naked and afraid—and late nights keeping tabs on Grandma Mazur and her new fella. Stephanie Plum has a lot on her plate, but for a girl who claims to have “virtually no marketable skills,” these are the kinds of sweet assignments she does best.

A fun read
I love that the Stephanie Plum books sticks to the same formula. I always know what to expect: a mindless listen that will take me away from the real world for a bit. Stephanie’s borderline cheating antics, however, are getting on my nerves. I love that the Stephanie Plum books sticks to the same formula. I love all her books. Fun to read.
LOVE these books by Janet Evanovich. Have read them all and will continue to do so as long S she writes them. Grandma rocks and Lula is a riot! A MUST READ series.
Another great and fun book by Janet. In my mind a must read!
Love all the Stephanie Plum stories. Lile imagining what Ranger looks like.
Very much a repeat of many of the series
Always a page turner
A fun read with a lot of laughs!
Stephanie Plum is always amusing, if a bit less funny thenshe used to be
Sameness and sloppiness have become characters in this series as much as Stepanie Plum herself. It was ok.
I have read quite a few of this authors books. There delightful and characters are funny love love love this series
I love the entire Stephanie Plum Series. It’s a great easy read!
I really enjoyed spending some more time with Stephanie Plum, Lula, Morelli, and Ranger. It was like a reunion of sorts for this reader who has read most of the first books in the series.
I take these books as a chance to laugh, to unwind and to enjoy myself while reading.
So many negative reviews, I can see what they are saying. Enjoy a good laugh or three, and put your expectations aside. You should know what to expect by now when you read this series.
I was disappointed with the editing in the book; you would think being released through a major publishing house the book would be near perfect. But, I still enjoyed my vacation time with these old friends.
“This is the Jolly truck. If you ride in it you gotta look like a Jolly Bogart clown. I’m not supposed to give rides to down-on-their-luck bimbos.”
“I bet he’s the killer,” Lula said. “He’s got a freezer and a gun.”
Grandma Mozur has a boyfriend, “There’s a lot of maintenance you gotta do to keep up with a relationship. There’s tweezing and shaving and moisturizing. Plus you gotta pretend you haven’t already heard his jokes. And I think I might be getting a rash down there from riding his motorcycle. I don’t know if I’m cut out to be a biker chick.”
“I’m drifting through life without direction. You have a clear direction and marriage isn’t a part of it.” Stephanie and Ranger.
The earlier books are better, but if you want a quick easy read, this will work.
I need Stephanie to pick between these guys soon. That storyline has gone on far too long.
I am almost current with the Stephanie Plum series written by Janet Evanovich. I just finished Turbo Twenty-Three and there are two left to be fully caught up. I should get to them both next month… it’s been an exciting and fun ride. While always humorous and page-turning treats, this one left me a little bored by the mystery hence the 3 rating. It has all the normal adventures and comical moments, but I felt like half the mystery was missing, and the parts kept in the book were disconnected and way too simple.
For the most part, the culprit was known from the beginning. Although there was an extra level added, it didn’t happen until about 90% thru, and it wasn’t someone we’d even gotten to know well. I felt a bit cheated by this story, but that said, I couldn’t sit still from the laughter at all the normal antics. Between the ice cream, geese, and change in the Ranger / Morelli dynamic, it was wonderful. No one does crazy-try-to-kick-ass-but-fail-epically better than Evanovich. I would love to have someone like Lula or Stephanie in my life. When Lula and Briggs do a demo tape for ‘Naked and Afraid,’ I wasn’t sure whether to get sick or be the first to sign up to watch their nutty adventures.
Here’s the thing about these books… they’re meant to just make us laugh. It’s not about solving a mystery. It’s not about choosing between two guys. It’s not about learning anything. It’s all about throwing people together in crazy scenes and seeing what happens. I’m good with it. I know what it’s for. I just wish there was a little better balance in this one to keep the interest on all levels with a common theme throughout the book. Onward I go to get #24 to read next.
Like most of America, I’ve been reading the Stephanie Plum series since Book 1, One of the Money, hit the stands. I was captivated by her books because they were pure beach books with hefty doses of fun and feisty wit. It’s very difficult to maintain the level of fast-paced fun that she tapped into in the Plum series. Turbo Twenty-Three falls victim to the normal kind of sagging and predictability that can happen in a long term, commercially successful series. Most likely it’s time to retire Stephanie and the gang, but I’d miss them. Eager to see if Evanovich & Co. decide to stay with this series or shut it down as her ghost writers write out other brand lines.
Fun read
