#1 NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • In the heart of Trenton, N.J., a killer is out to make sure someone gets his just desserts. Larry Virgil skipped out on his latest court date after he was arrested for hijacking an eighteen-wheeler full of premium bourbon. Fortunately for bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, Larry is just stupid enough to attempt almost the exact same crime again. Only this time he flees … crime again. Only this time he flees the scene, leaving behind a freezer truck loaded with Bogart ice cream and a dead body—frozen solid and covered in chocolate and chopped pecans.
As fate would have it, Stephanie’s mentor and occasional employer, Ranger, needs her to go undercover at the Bogart factory to find out who’s putting their employees on ice and sabotaging the business. It’s going to be hard for Stephanie to keep her hands off all that ice cream, and even harder for her to keep her hands off Ranger. It’s also going to be hard to explain to Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli, why she is spending late nights with Ranger, late nights with Lula and Randy Briggs—who are naked and afraid—and late nights keeping tabs on Grandma Mazur and her new fella. Stephanie Plum has a lot on her plate, but for a girl who claims to have “virtually no marketable skills,” these are the kinds of sweet assignments she does best.

Turbo Twenty Three: A Stephanie Plum novel, continuing the series. I’ve read the Plum novels since “One for the Money”, and have enjoyed all of them. I finally caught up with the 23rd, and it was great also. The offbeat non-stop humor of the series is a welcome break from fantasy and action-adventure novels. My advice is to start at the beginning of the series and enjoy the stories in sequence. If you don’t like the humor and characters just stop there; subsequent novels are more of the same, variations on a theme that just get funnier and more outrageous. Try to count how many of Stephanie’s cars are destroyed! There is significant development of the major characters over time that make successive novels even more enjoyable. I am looking forward to reading the 24th in the near future.
(Uh-oh. When I picked up Janet Evanovich’s Turbo Twenty-Three, I realized I was one book behind). But who can resist a book that opens with a dead body frozen like an ice cream bar complete with chocolate and pecans! Evanovich’s unique, colorful characters never disappoint and the read always lightens my load. And to any critics, uh, duh—that’s why I read her books. They’re LOL hilarious! I look forward to catching up with Hardcore Twenty-Four and will wait anxiously for November 13th for Look Alive Twenty-Five.
Another funny mystery with Stephanie Plum and a great cast of characters from Trenton, NJ. I always look forward to keeping up with her family and friends.
The newest Stepahnie Plum novel definitely does not disappoint. While staking out a skip, Stephanie and Lula wind up in a stolen semi (with Lula driving-yikes!). After destroying a police cruiser (semi brakes aren’t quite as quick as Lula’s Firebird), Stephanie discovers a dead body made to look like an ice cream bar. From there on, Stephanie is immersed in the Trenton ice cream world. She goes undercover for Ranger in rival ice cream factories to identify potential suspects. Of course, she still has skips to track down too!
Lula also has a great subplot in this book involving Randy Brigss and reality show audition tapes. Three words- Naked Bungee Jumping. Plus, Grandma Mazur starts dating a biker. What more could you want!
I love the Stephanie Plum series and always feel like I’ve just had a visit with old friends after I finish reading one of these books.
Another great book in the series by Janet Evanovich. Stephanie Plum and Lulu never fail to disappoint on a hilarious, quick read.
Turbo Twenty-Three by Janet Evanovich
just read this an as usual was funny you never know what Stephanie and lula will get themselves into can’t wait for number 24
It was very good. I always laugh out loud at some point when Stephanie or her Grandma do something crazy. Great fun
Vintage Stephanie Plum. Wasn’t as lengthy as her others but just as funny.
Author is enjoyable for a fun predictable read.
Not her best story, but any Evanovich is well worth a read. Great characters come to life once again. Looking forward to 24 … and beyond.
I love her Stephanie plum books. All of her numbered series have basically the same characters and they are hilarious.
I haven’t read any of her books I didn’t like. The characters are so believable and the added humor just makes you want to read more of her books. Her books have everything, romance, humor, and mystery. With those three combinations you get best sellers every time. Thanks Janet,
This book is unpredictable and action-packed. Stephanie Plum, a bounty hunter, is a street smart Jersey girl. Ranger needs her help and convinces her to go undercover at an ice cream factory. This should have been her dream job but someone is out to kill her. Janet Evanovich creates the most unusual characters. The narrator, Lorelei King, is fabulous! She is the absolute best at creating entertaining voices. You have no trouble differentiating between characters.
Really an interesting book. Very funny but holds one’s interest,
As always, a Stephanie Plum novel is my comic relief. The characters are memorable. The situations unimaginable. No matter what happens, Stephanie continues to put one foot in front of the other. Has anybody counted the vehicles she has totaled in this series?
love the book
good read
Unfortunately, a little disappointing, this from a devoted reader.
Love this series. They are funny.
