This is an amazing thriller that is certain to pull you into the story immediately! How could I put it down? It was so compelling that I could not! I actually felt my heart break! This author is amazing as well!
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
This is the best book I’ve read in a while. Great characters, storyline, twists and turns, and so well written. I could really feel for these characters. I really got pulled into their feelings. Easy read, page turner, and great writing style that grabs you from the start.
This was such a twisted tail that I could not put down!
Wow! Great book. Just when I thought I had it figured out, there’s another twist. Loved the book!
I listened to this one on audio–it was fast-paced and kept me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out the real story. The prologue hooked me instantly and the ending was totally unexpected! I can’t recommend this one enough for fans of stories like Big Little Lies.
A tragedy with a lot of twists and turns.
Great read!
Being the mother of three adopted children, all adopted at older ages that had been through foster homes before us, this book was of special interest to me. I was impressed that the story had a lot of real instances that come along with an adopted child. The disruptive and exhausting behaviors seems to come with the territory. I was rooting for the bond between the mother and son. Great book! I won’t give away the ending!
This book was divided in to chapters of switching back in time (2 time periods) and present. I typically do not enjoy this type of book cause I get lost and have to think where I am in the story. About 3/4 of the way though the book it became “I don’t want to put it down”. Four “friends” entwined in a life-time of sorrow and regret whom finally come to grip with life 30 years later. If you can stay with it, it is a good read.
Very good book full of questions for the teaser
Kept my interest throughout the book. I felt for the family. Makes you want to read in one sitting.
Fabulous book. Loved every minute
This read will keep you guessing.
I wavered between giving this book 3 stars or 4. It was definitely an interesting story, a domestic thriller that you absolutely must finish, because you have to know who did it! The format of the story development was interesting, as each chapter alternated between the present as they try to figure out who committed the crime and the past telling the story of the events leading up to the crime, though I will admit sometimes I got a little confused between the present and past as a chapter started. The characters were mostly believable, though I would have liked to have seen more character development for some of the major characters. I liked that this book waited until the end to give you the shocking twist about who committed the crime. While I figured some things out for myself as the end got closer, I was shocked by the twist and the reveal of the perpetrator. I will admit that eventually I got really tired of the main character being in a perpetual fragile state, thinking or talking about how she was going to crack, over and over and over. While understandable based on what she was dealing with, it got really really old. I felt haunted by the tragedy, and I think the book did a good job of showing just how challenging adopting a child can be. I just felt a lot of that part of the story, similar to the mother constantly falling apart/cracking up, was overdone and belabored. However overall it was a pretty quick read, a sympathetic story and I love a story with a twist you don’t see coming
This is a heartrending book! Could it happen to you? You have to read this !!!
A sad experience for this family. Much credit to the Mom working hard to maintain her self and sanity and stand by the adopted son. A twist at the end of the book that I didn’t see coming.
This was a fantastic book, could not put it down, if I could’ve would have given it a 10 star, absolutely brilliant!!
