Teddy King excels at many things. Playing hockey. Check. Scoring on and off the ice. Check. Being stupidly attractive … Double check. I knew him way back when. Before he was the guy everyone wanted a piece of, he was just a rebellious college co-ed and one of my more energetic study partners. But secrets have a way of getting out, and a steamy encounter from our college days (that we probably … encounter from our college days (that we probably shouldn’t have filmed) is about to cause a major scandal. Unless we can work together to stop it.
Teddy’s no stranger to hard work … but the thing he wants most?
Is me.
Note: This high-heat standalone is chock-full of scorching banter and steamy good times. He’s a testosterone-dripping hockey player who wants a second chance. She’s a tough as nails attorney intent on making partner. Loads of sexy banter! No cliffhanger. Enjoy!
Your favorite hot jocks are back with an all new stand-alone novel. If you like sexy, confident men who know how to handle a stick (on and off the ice), and smart women who are strong enough to keep all those big egos in check, this series is perfect for you!

In case you need reminding, filming a sex tape is a bad idea. Keeping ANY copies of it is an even worse idea. Really, possibly the worst of all bad ideas. If it’s not, there aren’t many that are much worse.
Don’t believe me? Ask Sara and Teddy. They can tell you about that one night, a while ago, when it seemed like a good idea…and why it really, really wasn’t. And, when someone gets ahold of it and threatens to release it, a bad idea actually becomes on that is even worse.
I like books where the starting of the relationship is something that isn’t generally the beginning of a romance, and this one definitely qualifies. It felt different from the beginning of the story and it left me with the feeling that I was reading something that was different.
Please don’t misunderstand…this is absolutely a romance, and it’s steamy and it’s between 2 characters that you like…it just has a beginning that feels like it’s really different.
I enjoyed and recommend this title.
Kendall Ryan brings her characters in this story wearing their heart on their sleeves. With the career choices that Teddy and Sara have, you would think we have two strong egos. Nope! Wrong! I loved these characters whole heartily. Trying to Score had me on my toes. I was not sure if these two would really stay together or finally let their true feelings fly! I love this series and the story was written beautifully!
Trying to Score was the one book of the series I have been waiting for. There was always something between Teddy and Sara, they are frenemies to the core and their banter is always on point.
Teddy and Sara went to college together, they were friends and had a casual fling. However, after the fling ended they remained friends and continued to give each other a hard time. However, flash forward years later something from their past comes back and couldn’t potentially put both their careers at risk. To play it safe, they form a fake relationship, however, things start to feel too real.
I love Sara. She is a sassy, independent lawyer. She is focused on her career and trying to advanced in her law firm. Teddy has two things he loves in his life. Hockey and his grandpa. He works hard to hockey in hopes that he can better take care of his Grandpa. Together they had so much chemistry and it was explosive at times.
Trying to Score is full of laughs, chemistry, banter and plenty of swoon-worthy moments. A MUST READ, along with the other books in the Hot Jocks series.
Trying to Score is a fast paced second chance romance. When Teddy is being blackmailed for a private sex tape he made years ago. He asks Sara to help him out. She is now a lawyer but she is also the person in the video with him. Now she has to find a way to suppress the release of the tape. They decide to pretend to be in a relationship but being together again brings back so many of those old feelings for both of them. They have history but now they have a comfortable friendship and even more.
Teddy finds that he doesn’t have to be just the pro athlete persona that everyone expects when he is just with Sara, he can be himself. That feeling alone is priceless as they fall easily into the flirty and comfortable conversation and friendship. But is all that enough? Life gets in the way and Teddy has to make a big decision between Sara, a woman he might finally have a shot with or doing the right thing and get traded to be near his aging grandfather. Read this fun story to see if Teddy and Sara can have it all and find their happily ever after!
TK & Sara are a great couple. Learning about their history & the scandal that brought them back full circle had me devouring this book. I love this series & these characters are a perfect mix!
Trying to Score is book 3 in the Hot Jocks Series and this is Teddy King and Sarah Dawson’s story.
What can I tell you about Teddy …..he is a man you will fall for big time he will probably steal a piece of your heart that you will most likely never get it back, I’m also sure he will become one of your favourite hero’s of this year. Sarah is the girl we would all love to be friends with and when Teddy asks for help she comes to his rescue. Timing never seems to work out for this couple they have never been single at the same time until now, has fate finally got it right with its intervention……
This friends to lovers romance has all the feels and it certainly ticked all my boxes, I laughed at the witty banter, I sighed at the intense scorching hot chemistry and I found myself wishing and hoping for a HEA for this adorable couple. This story will draw you in and it won’t let you go until you have read the finally line, it’s a book and a series that highly recommend to all romance readers, one clock this great read it won’t disappoint. Looking forward to what’s next from this very talented author.
From the moment they met in college Teddy and Sara were pretty much inseparable, their friendship started off as platonic, just study buddies… but eventually they realized they had a whole lot more there then just studying. The heat between them was undeniable and easy to give in to, but neither were ready, or in the right place, for a relationship so they just kept things simple.
Secretly Teddy wanted more, and just as he was ready to reveal that to Sara, she came back to school with a new boyfriend in tow. So he bowed out and moved on… but through the years his feelings for her have never faded.
Little does he know fate is about to give him a another shot with her, now he just has to figure out how to convince her to give it a try!
Trying to Score centers around two long-time friends, who were once more than that, but are now about to get their second shot at that something more… the forever kind of more! Teddy has always wanted to make Sara his and now with the naughty video predicament he finds himself in, he has no choice but to convince her to go along with his agents plan. Their fake dating plan is about to push them closer than they have been in years, and closer to finding that happily ever after Teddy has been dying to have. Watching these two try to maintain their fake relationship and keep their hands off one another was quite entertaining… they had me smiling and swooning quite a bit. This was a fun read to settle down with it had sweet moments to tug on the heartstrings, naughty bits to spawn some serious blushing, and bits of humor to inspire a few smiles. If you are in the mood for a light-hearted, feel good romance I highly suggest you get your hands on this one, it’s destined to have everything you want and more!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher, and I am voluntarily leaving my honest opinion.
Sara and Teddy have a secret that they’ve shared for years. None of their closest friends even know. From the outside, their friends just see them bicker, never even seeming like friends. They have no clue there is attraction and feelings still stirring from their steamy past in college.
Teddy promised no one would ever see the hot sext tape he and Sara made back in college. Now, it’s coming back to haunt them both. Sara is about to make partner at her law firm while Teddy’s NHL contract is about to be renewed. When Teddy’s team’s PR tells them that they should be in a fake relationship to soften the blow when the tape inevitably gets out, things get steamy quickly!
I loved watching their relationship progress from bantering with each other to a fake relationship to save face to them finally figuring out that they are truly meant to be together. I love how swoony Teddy was. Even when he was supposed to be a fake boyfriend, it was easy to tell that he really meant it. Sara was strong, knows exactly what she wanted, and wasn’t afraid to take it.
This was a great addition to the series and I can’t wait to read the next book!
Grateful to have received a complimentary ARC copy to honestly review.
4.5 stars
I’m absolutely loving this series. Teddy and Sara are fantastic together. Teddy and Sara had a relationship years ago and have managed to not only stay friends but also keep their history a secret from everyone else. When Teddy finds out their caught on camera romp is about to be released to the masses he has no choice but to involve Sara. Knowing both their careers are on the line they have no choice but to work together to try and keep it under wraps. But the more time they spend together the harder it is to ignore the feelings they’ve both been trying to ignore.
I loved this book. The characters are great. Teddy is everything! And Sara is so easy to connect with. Strong, independent and sassy, she’s the perfect woman for Teddy. I can’t wait for the next book in this series.
Another fantastic book in the Hot Jocks series! I keep falling in love with all these great hockey players! This time we get Teddy and Sara’s story. These two have a past relationship that none of their friends know about, they only know that they were friends in college. The past comes back to threaten Teddy and Sara’s careers. To try to take some of the sting away that this video scandal could cause, Teddy and Sara agree to be in a fake relationship. But of course they both realize that they don’t want this relationship to be fake. I love that the attraction between these two was always simmering below the surface until they had to put on a “show” in their fake relationship. Then they let the attraction out and dang was it hot! These two were a great couple and really balanced each other out. I love that they had their second chance now and could appreciate what they have now more than they might have in college.
I loved both Teddy and Sara and loved the scenes with Owen, Becca, Justin and Elise. And the little hint of something between Bailey and Asher. Another great book in this series that you definitely want to read!
5 Star Review Trying To Score(Hot Jocks #3) by Kendall Ryan
Trying to Score is the third book in Kendall Ryan’s latest Hot Jocks series and is Teddy King and Sara Dawson’s story.
This is a friends to lovers story, with a side of hockey, that was an entertaining and easy book to read.
What happens when a mistake from the past comes back to haunt you? That’s the position Teddy and Sara suddenly find themselves in when a romantic encounter which they filmed, suddenly sees the light of day. Can they work together to save their careers or will the secrets of the past, ruin the present and their future?
Deciding to fake date in an effort to minimise the damage the tape can do, both Teddy and Sara will soon realise that neither of them are pretending.
The chemistry between them is intense and I loved the build up. I loved Teddy, he is so swoon worthy and I would be happy to call Sara a friend.
This was a fun, not particularly long book which was steamy and entertaining. It was great to catch up with the previous couples and see where they are now.
I am excited to see who is next in the series .
I’ve been a fan of this series from the first book. I loved Justin and Owen’s stories and I couldn’t wait for Teddy’s. Once again, Kendall Ryan does not disappoint. I loved everything about this book. I love Teddy and Sara. Their flirty banter and off the charts chemistry is everything.
5 Stars!
**I voluntarily read an early copy of this title in exchange for an honest review**
I was so excited to dive into another Hot Jocks series book and I can tell you that this one definitely lives up to the series name…there is some serious hotness in it!
Teddy and Sara have known one another since college and they are part of the same friend circle now. While they had a short fling during college, it’s not something they have ever shared with their friend group and to all of them, they see them sniping at one another more than getting along, so they’d likely never believe it anyway!
When Sara returned to school with a boyfriend, she and Teddy were never single at the same time. Now so many years later, Teddy is one of the hottest hockey players around and Sara is on track to make partner with her law firm, but what is about to happen next, might derail all of it. When Teddy finds out that a sex tape they made in college is about to be released, he enlists her help in hopes of blocking the release. In order to help lessen the blow should it leak, the two begin a fake relationship. But is it really fake or are the feelings from years ago just under the surface for both of them?
I loved that Sara and Teddy had such a natural connection and friendship. Throughout the journey they learned more about one another and found that they liked many of the same things, not to mention that the level of hotness between them in the bedroom was off the charts! This series has been such a great one and I’m so looking forward to the next one in this series as I have no doubt it’s going to be as great as all the rest have been!
Fun loving, second chance romance at its best!! Lana~ White Hot Reads
Teddy and Sara are friends with a past that comes back to bit them in the butt. Someone is trying to leak the sex tape they made years ago and they must work together in order to get it stopped. The chemistry between them is off the charts and once they figure out its better for them to work together it gets good. I’m loving this Hot Jocks series.
Yum, more sexy hockey players. This time, we get Teddy’s story from the team. What we didn’t know what that Teddy and Sara dated or hooked up in college but things happened and that relationship faded away, or did it? When Teddy gets blackmailed about a sex tape he made with Sara, he finds himself in a bind and the only person who can help is Sara. Sara has been working hard to make partner at her law firm and the last thing she expects Teddy to tell her is that he never destroyed the sex tape they made in college and now someone else has a copy of it. As these two navigate this situation to protect both their careers, they decide to present a united front as a couple. The joy in this journey happens as Teddy and Sara spend time together and find that same natural connection they had in college. Maybe those feelings were something more and this is their second chance. I had fun experiencing their romance. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Gahhhh!! I always get the warm and fuzzies after reading one of Kendall’s books! Sure enough Trying to Score did just that! It had a comical side to it that had me giggling! Steamy and sensual!! Awesome story!!
What happens when a secret is exposed? Especially a secret that should never have been kept in the first place. When a ‘friend’ steps up and agrees to help, what starts out as a means to an end turns into lines being blurred and feelings resurrected.
TK is the hottest forward in the league and he knows it. Sara is wowing the partners at her law firm and is on the fast track to be the next partner. Will their little secret derail their future plans or will they take a quick detour, find their future, and live the life they’ve been too afraid to hope for?
This was a fun read, I loved getting to know not only TK and Sara but the rest of the gang as well. Looking forward to seeing them all again in Crossing the Line.
This series is getting hotter and hotter. A fake relationship but real feelings. Teddy and Sara knew each other in college and even hooked up. But after she returned back she was dating someone else and they never were single at the same time. Now with the threat of the tape that they made in college being exposed they decide to fake date to help the blow if this tape ever is released. But feelings buried deep start to surface. Could this fake relationship turn real? Teddy is such a great guy and Sara is an absolute doll. They are perfect together. Their love for chain restaurants is what makes them so real, They don’t need the fancy dinners, or the rich lifestyle. Even though their sex is scorching it is not the only thing that makes them so good together. It’s the game nights, the cuddling on the couch on the weekends watching movies that make Sara and Teddy so real. They can be themselves when they are together.
A truly enjoyable, sexy story of two people who are perfect together.
I am loving these hockey players! Teddy and Sara’s relationship started in college, and I loved that their decision there set this whole book up. I loved that Teddy was ready for a relationship. It felt natural for them. So, even though it was a short read, it felt like we had a journey. I loved it!

As always, I love Kendall Ryan books. They always have me blushing, laughing, swoony and wanting more!! This was no different. I got those warm fuzzy feelings and was left with a HUGE smile on my face when I was done. Oh and the chemistry between Teddy and Sara is off the charts HOT!!! Have a fan ready when reading this book 😉
Trying to Score is the third book in Kendall’s Hot Jocks Series. Each of these books can be read as a standalone. Each book focuses on a different hockey star from the Seattle hockey team and the woman who tames them. This story was the perfect mix of sports romance and romantic comedy. The banter between Teddy and Sara and even the other players had me laughing throughout the story. I thought the flow and pace was perfect and I loved that it is told in Dual POV.
We follow Teddy and Sara in this book. They have been friends for years and even had a casual thing back in college. When one of those encounters back in college threatens to be revealed, Teddy and Sara must work together to keep it from getting out. Both of their careers count on it. What lengths will Teddy and Sara of to, to keep this a secret?? What happens if that secret get out?? Can they overcome the consequences?? What happens when something that started as pretend, turns uno something more? Read this funny and entertaining read to get those answers.
This is a quick read, but it lacks for nothing. We get the laughs, the feels and emotion we have come to expect from Kendall Ryan. I loved that we got to see all the players and the previous couples in this book. I look forward to the other books in this series and seeing where all these players end up.
If you are a fan of Kendall Ryan books, you NEED to read this story. If you haven’t started on this journey of Kendall’s books yet, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR, this would be the perfect place to start. Trust me, once you pick up your first Kendall Ryan book you will be hooked. This book/series is also perfect for the fans of sports romances. Kendall really knows how to write a great sports romance novel!!!
