I expected nothing less, but Danielle Rose has done it again. I love that this story is told from James’ point of view. There is so much more insight into some of the questions that were left over from Lies We Keep. I love the suspense of the mystery of James and his back story that inter-mingles with the steamy, swoon worthy story between James and Jezabel. This is a fantastic novel, and I couldn’t be happier with my reading experience. This is so worth the read, don’t miss out on this!!
Truth We Bear is the second book in the Pieces of Me duet. It was a fascinating contemporary romance. It was thrilling, steamy, and mysterious. I loved book 1 and I loved that this book was in the POV of James. It was a beautiful redemption story for James and Danielle Rose gave me everything I wanted in the conclusion to this duet.
This is a duet and is not a standalone.
When we begin this book, we get a peek at James and Jezebel’s life. She is still working through her issues/past with the help of a therapist and of course her empathetic support system, James. I really loved getting to know James from his perspective. I knew that he had a mysterious past so when I began to catch a glimpse of it, it took my breath away. This man was so strong not only in his life but strong for the love of his life. He went through so much at such a young age and found a way to push past his demons and somehow find a way to move forward.
What I learned quickly is that James never fully moved on from his past list. He simply moved forward finding a way to get by without thinking of his past. This book was so healing and necessary for him in this book. For so long, he wanted to forget his life because maybe if he chose to ignore it, his past wouldn’t come back to haunt him.
His past did come back in the form of his former fiance, Abigail. She brings along so much history and pain. In the beginning, I found myself annoyed with the character Abigail. I felt like she was going to ruin Jezebel and James’ relationship. By the end of the book, I had so much compassion for her. This woman had lived a life that she believed was the right life in the eyes of not only her father but in the eyes of “God”. People were able to use her faith and belief and prey on her without her knowledge.
There were so many great aspects of this story that made it so gratifying to read. The title is so fitting for James and his story. To overcome his past he truly had to be honest with himself and Jezebel to not only get the closure he wanted but get the closure he deserved.
I give Truth We Bear 5 stars. It was a riveting story about love, lies, and letting go that will have fans of the Pieces of Me duet feeling satisfied with this conclusion of the story. I highly recommend this book and book 1 to readers fo romance and suspense.Truth We Bear (Pieces of Me Book 2) Danielle Rose
Once again, this new to me author has flawed me with her words, Truth We Bear is book two in the Pieces of Me duet and though it’s standalone, it is best to read both Lies We Keep (Book 1) and this book.
Danielle Rose is fairly new to me, the only other book of hers I have read was Lies We Keep, and I absolutely loved it and was so excited going into this book straight after book 1. She’s gone and weaved her words together and created a plot so thick and intense that it has consumed me from the first chapter of book 1.
We knew from the beginning that James Blakely had been through hell in his life, but he had always been tight-lipped about it, he hadn’t opened up much to anyone about the things he had been through, not even Jezebel. In fact that he won’t open up about these secrets to Jezebel are is something that could quite possibly make or break their relationship.
In Truth We Bear we get James POV and we get to find out more of his past. This book picks up 12 months after book 1, and things are about to get complicated, James’ past is about to come back and haunt him, and Jezebel for that matter and someone from his past is on a warpath to destroy his happiness to get what they want and the fact that he’s kept so much from Jezebel isn’t helping the situation one bit. You also see more how he feels about Jezebel, and how much he has fallen for her.
Will James be able to save his relationship? Or will it fall apart? Will he be able to leave his past in the past? Will his past actually let that happen?
I loved the mystery, the unknown, the suspense, and most of all the insanely hot and intense, steamy and all-consuming heated scenes in this book. It was hot enough to melt my kindle and it was addictive, I couldn’t get enough. I am so glad I took a chance on this author and this duet.
I highly recommend this book, but urge people to start with Lies We Keep (Book 1) to get a better understanding of this story, the relationship, and the building up of these two characters and their intense relationship.
5 stars!
I have not read it yet but I really want to I hear good reviews on it
Loved reading the further adventure of James and Jezebel’s story. Nothing ever comes easy…no love story ever does… still routing for them while watching James’s story unfold…our past always effects our futures….and sometimes makes for an exciting read…
Great read! Just finished Truth We Bear and it was just as good as Lies We Keep. Loved both books, finished them in 2 days.
Loved this book! Danielle did a fantastic job yet again! Can’t wait to see what she comes out with next!
This book is no doubt a must read. It is one of the best stories I have read this year. You won’t regret it. Love Danielle Rose

5 star read
First off let me just start off by saying how much I loved this book! This is the second book in the series and it is written in James POV and I absolutely love that it was! The book was so well-written and the storyline between Jezebel and James is amazing! This book is action packed, drama filled, steamy, suspenseful, full of romance and so much more! If you are looking for all of the above then I highly recommend this book to you!
In this book you get James’ background and what happened to his family. He is still with Jezebel and her bodyguard. His past is affecting their relationship. James fears Jezebel may go too far and end up dead or in serious trouble helping him deal with his past. This story had more mystery and twists than the first one. An enjoyable read and not meant to standalone.
I received a copy of this book via Netgalley and am leaving a review.

In the conclusion of the Pieces of Me duet, Truth We Bear, Danielle Rose takes us back to James’ childhood and how he grew up with so many dark shadows that are always consuming his thoughts.
James and Jezebel’s story continues and just as they get back into a routine after everything that happened and a period of healing and facing her demons, Jezebel knows that James has his own history and that, in time, will trust her enough to share the details.
What I do love about Danielle’s writing is that there is no confusing the then with the now. She gives enough information to make you realize how much damage has been done and why our beloved James is in the state that he is in.
Keeping his past from consuming what he and Jezebel have built becomes harder as his past and secrets slowly surface from where they were buried, both literally and figuratively. For a split second, he considers leaving it all, but he knows he’s too weak and Jezebel means too much to him to do that to her and himself.
As more of his past comes to light, he soon finds that there is a real threat that has also surfaced. The only problem is that the closer he comes to grasping at it, the faster it slips away.
With everything catching up, he tries to keep his guard up but he is only human. Without truly realizing it, by protecting what is most important to him, he might lose the inner battle with his demons.
After walking through James’ history we meet Abigail, who was the pawn to her father’s twisted and selfish plan, in more ways than just one. She first comes across as a little girl with a bad example for a father, then someone to loathe but we soon realize through her little bit of history that it was never her fault and she was an innocent in a game of cruel greed.
It all comes to an end one way or another, but will anyone else be collateral damage? How does James handle it when he is faced with his biggest, darkest demon? Would he make it right for the sake of the fallen or would he succumb to the dark?
Danielle is an excellent storyteller!
James’s story was shorter than Jezebel’s and not as strong. The Lies We Keep eluded to James’s past that just a year after Jez put her demons to rest his come to the service.
I loved James in the previous book. He was sexy and confident and in control. That wasn’t the James I got to know in this book. For someone who prided himself on being in charge of her safety and wanting to never let her down again, his need to keep everything from Jez backfired. It felt like he was flailing around the whole time. And the people from his past were one step ahead the whole time. So much for his experiences in the military/Special Forces.
I didn’t like this James. There wasn’t much Jez in his story but what remained true was her strength and understanding – a true heroine of the story.
The quick yet highly entertaining conclusion of this action packed romantic adventure. This journey is filled with danger, dark secrets, intriguing charterers and thrilling passion….. was a exciting journey from beginning to end. Excellent reading experience.
This book! Amazing! I would definitely suggest reading book 1 (Lies We Keep) first even though it’s a standalone. Danielle Rose is a new one click, no hesitation, no blurb needed, author for me. Excellent 5 stars!
This is the second book of the duet Pieces of me and it is a must read after Lies We Keep. Just like the first book this one kept me just as hooked from the first chapter. James gave us a little bit about his past in the first book but this book gives you insight to everything he has hidden deep within. When his past starts to creep up on him again will he be able to protect Jezebel and stand up to his demons? This story has suspense, action, love, steamy chemistry, and an amazing plot. I will be looking for more to read from Danielle!
This one is the second one the series. It is mainly about James and his story. And what a story his has to tell. Something happened to his parents when he was a child and he has been living with it all this time. Will it come back to haunt him and hurt the woman he loves? This one was just as intense as the first one . Well written and enjoyable. I loved it. I loved how everything comes out between these two. This series was enjoyable from beginning to end. Highly recommend.
4.5 stars
This is the second book in the Pieces of Me Series and I preferred it to the first book as it is a quicker read. It is not a standalone. This is the back story to how James grew up and the demons he now has to face. It picks up from where the previous book left off as Jezebel is continuing to heal thanks to James. However, the past is not to be forgotten and it is rearing its ugly head. Small snippets are coming out pertaining to the Living Light the cult-like group James grew up in and what happened to all of its members. Then there is someone writing posts as if goading James to put all of the pieces together and find the person. Adding to the mix is Abigail, the young daughter of the new pastor of the community who was supposedly expected to marry James. Filled with drama, suspense, and action this storyline just takes hold from the onset and pulls the reader along into a web of lies and shocking truths. In order to feel the impact of these written words, I recommend one clicking this book and reading it for yourself.
I volunteered to read an advance copy of this book and all opinions are my own.
Whew so many questions were answered!! This is what I had been waiting on, I had so many questions and was truly hoping that they would all get answers and they did! This book brings us past to James’s past and to a point where it collides with his present. It is some very sticky situations and I really loved how Jezebel never left his side.
After this book, I can say that I would definitely recommend it to others!
Jezabel and James story continue from James point of view. Very well written with James past coming back to haunt him. Chapters of flashbacks intertwined with the current day tells the story of James. Very well written. Wonderful characters. Heartbreaking moments. Loved Truth We Bear.
You should start with book one Lies we keep. Jezebels nightmare is over now she is on her way to recovery. Poor James cannot let his past go. When it catches up to him. He must do what’s right for them. This was a good series to read.
