Love this author! Witty and great read!
Cute story and a quick happy read.
Love all of her books-and this one as well. Great characters, interesting storyline. Highly recommend!!
Cute!
Very good read, with a great storyline. I couldn’t believe that the book was going to have a HEA. There was a time or two that I thought some of the main characters weren’t really good friends but, in the end it all worked out.
Catty Women, Weight Shaming… Oh, My!
In the subtitle of this book, the author calls this “a sweet romance with humor.” While the book may be technically sweet in terms of intimacy, as the heat level is very low, I wouldn’t necessarily call it sweet. The way the females interact in this book is very catty, and I never like to see that stereotype of female interaction in books. I’m also not wild about any book that has weight shaming, and the very first scene in this book has that. Sigh! My book choices tonight, too, have all started with a too large info dump, which I never like to see in any book. It seems to be a particular flaw in novellas, but this is a long enough novella. The author could have certainly woven in backstory as the main story moved along. I also wasn’t wild about the heroine. She just doesn’t come across as a decent person, and she stayed that way throughout the entire book. If there had been a growth arc for her, that may have been okay. All these issues combined made for an unenjoyable reading experience for me. If you just see it as a bit of romantic fluff and don’t get hung up on the annoying details, you might enjoy it more than I did.
I “bought” a copy of this book for free (and also downloaded an ARC for it, not realizing that!), but that did not affect my review.
After the breakup of a ten-year relationship, Gina is done with men who won’t commit. Unfortunately, that includes her co-worker Chris, who she has crazy chemistry with. Her new roommate sets her up with Ethan, who is gorgeous, polite, and ready to settle down. Could he be Mr. Right? Or does Chris have potential after all?
You have to feel for Gina. Her head’s in a bad spot after staying in the wrong relationship for so long. That’s probably why it’s so hard for her to see what’s right in front of her face, if only she has the courage to look. It’s a lovely moment when she finally realizes that she can have it all with a man who’s perfect for her. This is a funny, sweet, emotional novella that will fill your heart.
Thanks, Booksprout, for the ARC I received. This is my honest and voluntary review.
Truth or Date is a humorous, charming and romantic story. After a long term relationship ends for Gina, her best friends play the game Truth or Dare and she always takes the dare. Her dare is to set her up on a date with Brian. This book gets real humorous when Gina explains the Truth or Dare to Chris who she is planning a going away party for and he changes the the date to date. I loved the chemistry and interplay between Gina and Chris during their dates. I highly recommend reading this book and you will truly enjoy it,

The Truth Is Hard To Find
This is a very cute Rom-Com. It is part of a series that shares characters and location but can be read in any order. Our heroine breaks up with her long-term boyfriend because he won’t commit, then she turns around and is afraid to commit. It is quite a hoot! This author writes a good, clean romance with a great side of humor.
This is book two of the Better Date Than Never series and tells the story of Gina, who has just ended a ten year romance, when she finally realised her boyfriend didn’t want to commit, even after knowing she always wanted to get married! Unfortunately, he is also the type not to give up on where he is living and getting the best of both worlds. They are still in the same home, if not the same bed, some four months after they broke up. Her friends persuade her that she needs to move out, as it’s obvious that her ex won’t! Her friend Kristen pulls her into a game of truth or dare, to which she only ever chooses dare, and she gets asked to take over the farewell party for one of the most handsome guys at the software firm they all work for. Chris Bradley is leaving for one of their competitors in the software business and has had a long line of girlfriends, none ever for very long. Gina works as an accountant in the firm and goes up to see him, to find out his favourites for his party. The game of truth or dare gets brought up and he changes it around to truth or date! When it’s his turn to play against her, he uses his chance to get her to agree to come to a lunch with his new boss and wife, but which turns out to be for quite a few new workmates as well. It will help to keep the attractive but over flirty HR manager, off his back when he isn’t interested in her. He tries to never date workmates, having had his heart broken by a woman who was in love with another!
Gina has already agreed to try out a blind date with a man called Ethan, recommended by Kristen as being proper serious marriage material. She gets told to invite Ethan as her date for Ellen’s wedding, but is slow to get around to it. It seems each time she arranges to go out with Ethan, with the rehearsal dinner and wedding coming up at the end of the week, she doesn’t have much time to ask, and keeps meeting up with Chris. She is feeling attracted to him, but believes he is a playboy and not ready to commit, like she is looking for! Feeling far too much for Chris, she has to switch her attention to Ethan, but the heart always leads you to exact what it knows you want, even if your head tells it to do otherwise. The actual wedding day is the culmination of her head and heart choices coming together and Gina finally finding out what she really wants and deserves. Helped by her friends of course, with a bit of truth or date, daring to take a chance against your own initial thoughts or beliefs about others. Another nice and sweet HEA ending romance, where what you are looking for, might have been right in front of your face the whole time. You can’t count someone out, for what you think they are, without knowing the reality of what they are now. People change and what you see, isn’t necessarily what you get. Looks are definitely not everything as one of the characters realises.
I thoroughly enjoyed Chris and Gina’s story. It is captivating and the characters come to life. It is well written, a standalone book and a good read.
I loved this book. I am unsure how Susan Hatler always manages to write stories that brings you in. I enjoyed this book and could not put it down. Gina is a bridesmaid in her friend’s wedding after breaking up with her boyfriend of ten years. She gets a new roommate and is set up with Ethan. She has feelings for a guy at work but sees him as a playboy. I loved when she realized that Chris loved her but did not want to mess up her relationship with George. He was then patient enough to wait for her to be ready for another relationship before telling her his feelings.

Another delightful book from Ms. Hatler. There’s an implied happily ever after but overall a nice relaxing book. No sex or foul language.
Fantastic. Gina has been hurt before. But so has Chris. Gina’s struggles are oh so human.
Part of “Better Date than Never Boxed Set (Books 1-6)”
Rating:
This was an amazing story. I loved the incorporation of the children’s game Truth or Dare. All the characters were a lot of fun. The heroine grew throughout the story. I’m happy she was able to find a ture love. The hero, while we didn’t have his perspective, also bettered himself. I liked seeing couples that I’ve already read about. The story progressed smoothly and the plot developed well.
The story follows Gina. She’s just had to dump for boyfriend of ten years because he was delaying. He never planned to marry her or make a family. He just wanted to live together indefinitely. Since that wasn’t something of a lifestyle that Gina had asked for, she drops him. Then she moves out. She promises herself that she won’t ever go out with a relationship phobe. The hero of this story is Chris. They are coworkers. Gina admittingly knows that she thinks he is hot but she believes that he won’t ever like her. He’s a bit of a girl changer. A new flavour each month. Now he’s advancing on her, she doesn’t know how to take it.
I wrote this voluntary review in exchange for an ARC copy.
Susan has not disappointed yet again. I love reading Susan’s stories and always have a good laugh while reading them. I am looking forward to the next book.

Gina finds Truth or Dare causing unexpected romance and mishaps in this clean romantic comedy by new to me author, Susan Hatler. The narrator for this book is good with only a couple of slips where I couldn’t tell the voice transition from Gina to Ellen. Otherwise a fun story with all of the things I want in a story without all the stuff I don’t.
This was a quick read. It was okay, but I wouldn’t run out and buy others by this author. The main character seemed obtuse. I prefer strong and intelligent females.
A bit silly, but a fun read.
A good read to help you relax and forget the world for awhile….
