Falling for the wrong twin never felt so good . . .From the NEW YORK TIMES, WALL STREET JOURNAL, & USA TODAY bestselling series Beards, brothers, and bikers! Oh my! Identical twins Beau and Duane Winston might share the same devastatingly handsome face, but where Beau is outgoing and sociable, Duane is broody and reserved. This is why perpetually level-headed Jessica James has been in naïve … level-headed Jessica James has been in naïve and unhealthy infatuation with Beau Winston for most of her life. Whereas Duane and Jessica have always been adversaries. She can’t stand him, and she’s pretty sure he can’t stand the sight of her…
But after a case of mistaken identity, Jessica finds herself in a massive confusion kerfuffle. Jessica James has spent her whole life paralyzed by the fantasy of Beau and her assumptions of Duane’s disdain; therefore she’s unprepared for the reality that is Duane’s insatiable interest, as well as his hot hands and hot mouth and hotter looks.
When Jessica finds herself drawn to the man who was always her adversary, how much of her level-head heart is she willing to risk?
Truth or Beard is book #1 in the Winston Brothers series. Each book is a standalone, full length (110k words), contemporary romantic comedy novel, and follows the romantic exploits and adventures of one of the six Winston Brothers.

What can you say about Penny Reid? I ready EVERYTHING she writes. Her stories feature smart women and hot men in entertaining situations — translate as she is really funny on top of romantic. If you like women who don’t put up with crap (or who learn not to put up with crap) and men who are not threatened by those smart women, then Penny Reid is for you.
Loved this! I’d heard about Penny Reid’s bearded heroes on the Smart Bitches podcast. Reid handles romance tropes in a layered, believable way. Okay, the “deal” of a 13-month relationship was kind of out there, but the characters’ reasons made sense. And hey, it’s a romance novel, so we know it’s going to work out in the end. Good humor, lovely sexy times, adorable family of bearded brothers. My only disappointment: Reid left some plot threads dangling. I assume they’re fodder for future stories and, since her writing’s so good, I’ll continue to read this series.
Loved this book a Great Read. Couldn’t stop reading. Very exciting, funny, loving everyone should read it. Thank You
Appealing characters. Snappy back and forth dialogue. Good pacing. A fun read.
Great book. She creates characters you care about.
Her books are always a good choice
Great book. Bought the whole set. Loved every one. Also read all the accompanying set with the sister included. Highly recommend. Thank you.
I’m a Penny Reid fan. These bearded brothers really entertain me. I liked Duane and his secret love for Jessica James. It read true for me that the boy she thought hated her and teased her was the boy who turned out to love her. The story line was clever and casually introduced characters in the town that will hopefully come into future stories. Thanks Penny for another fun read.
Penny Reid is such a fabulous writer! There’s so much depth to her characters and she always adds interesting twists in her novels. OMG — those Winston brothers! LOVE them! Beau is one of my favorites!
So funny.
Too long and wordy. Liked the funny and romantic way it was written.
Story just a bit juvenile for my taste; but fairly good character development.
I love everything I’ve read by Penny Reid. If you love Jennie Crusie, you’ll love Penny Reid.
Loved this book! Looking forward to reading about the rest of the Wilson family!
I loved this book. The characters in this family are always entertaining. Can’t wait to read the rest of this series.
I don’t give a lot of 5-star reviews, but this was my first Penny Reid book and I can’t wait to read more. Usually a series has three siblings, and each gets their own story, but I am so excited that we will get to read about all six brothers (plus one sister!) I’d snapped this book up back in December (when it was FREE!) but had been busy reading other things. The other night, I was scrolling through the books on my kindle and my gaze fell upon the awesome cover of this book, and while I know we’re told not to judge a book by one, with a cover image like that, I figured I had to give it a try. It was, after all, different from what my daughters call my “shirtless man books.” 😀 I finished it in three days.
I was hooked from the start, partly because the book opens with a LotR quote, but mostly because of the history the two main character share. I didn’t always like Duane, and I found the biker gang storyline to be a little distracting at times, but overall, I was kept in the story and couldn’t wait to see how it turned out. It was funny, it was sexy, and I often felt like I was on the emotional roller coaster with Jessica!
Great book. So good that I am reading the whole series. Love the family of brothers and their wonderful characters. Romantic, funny, and a great story.
I just couldn’t get into it.she wasn’t very believable
I loved this book. It was funny, good characters and happily ever after. I’ve since read more of 5he series.
Just plain silly. Not worth finishing.
I really wanted to like this book, but after the fourth “circumcised penis” note, I was out.
