Yet when the rogues threaten her people, … rogues threaten her people, claws come out. She will even team up with the wolf whose heart she broke to protect them.
Their attraction is as hot as ever, but Claire and Nik are no longer the same people. And with their enemies’ escalating attacks, their only way forward is to let go of the past.

This is a super paranormal romance! I liked it! It has danger and suspense.. with a side of mystery. The characters have wonderful chemistry… and really draw you into their story!
Amazing entry in the Shift series! I feel in love with Nik and Claire and their second chance romance! And for once, the girl is the one who was spying on the guy! Loved it!
** spoiler alert ** Claire has been determined to do what she can to help her people. Nikolai was raised to believe the shifter government was doing wrong. She lied to him. Will Claire be able to prove that she is on the good side? Will Nikolai take a chance with her again?
Loved how despite the fact that they should be enemies, neither could deny what they felt. I didn’t blame Nikolai because after all that is how he was raised, but I was really proud when he decided to help the good side. I loved how Claire was determined to get in the trenches with her people regardless of her position within them. Good read!
A really good shifter romance.
This is quite the story about Nik and Masha/Claire and the power of love. Nik and Claire were raised on opposite sides of the shifter equation but lately, Nik had begun to wonder if he was fighting for the right thing. When he bursts into the server room and discovers Masha with a laptop, he knows he’s been played but needs to know if it was all fake. When she risks her own life to give him a chance to escape, he wonders just how much was real… and what else is wrong in his life.
I really enjoyed how well written this book was and the depth of each character involved. It was a great read but it does end on quite the cliffhanger for the next couple.

Second in the series, and I am still enjoying the world. There is danger everywhere, sides to choose, and misinformation abounding. Claire and Nik came from opposite sides, but both realize things needed to change. Nik was willing to put aside his misconceptions as events unfolded, and Claire wanted to keep Nik by her side. There were some steamy scenes as well as some violent ones. I enjoyed this one as much as the last, and look forward to the next.
I received an ARC through Enticing Journey Book Promotions, and this is my unsolicited review.
I am really enjoying this series and would recommend it to all shifter fans. After reading the first book I could wait to read Nikolai and Claire’s book you really need to read these in order so you know what’s going on. It was another action-packed read I am hooked and cannot wait for book three.
I received a free advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
This is the second in Zoe Ashwood’s Shift series, and while it could possibly be read alone, it follows an overall plot from the first book and would make better sense read together.
I’ve come to really enjoy this shifter world the author has created. In this second book, while we’re treated to learning more about characters we met previously, the focus is on Claire, a former spy, and Nik, a turned rebel. Their history while Claire was undercover – and a different name – and while Nik was an actual member of the guard, is unraveled as they both learn more about the organization that threatens everything they’ve come to hold sacred.
The power struggle between these two, and finding their common ground, made for a great read. I also really enjoyed the glimpses we got of another pairing (won’t spoil that one!) throughout the book (hint – it was teased in the first one, too). A good deal of sexiness, sweetness, and belonging are delved into throughout.
Definitely looking forward to where we’re taken in the third book, as this one ended with our characters running off into actiom yet again.

The Quick and Dirty: += then +=
Claire is the princess of the Thibault clan and is set to take over her father’s Council seat, but she’s also a spy who’s infiltrated The Guard, a rogue group, and unwittingly fallen for its top Lieutenant, Nik. She gets caught trying to hack into their servers and her secret identity is revealed, shattering Nik’s heart and their chances of finding happiness together. Circumstances bring them back together and as Nik realizes what The Guard really stands for, they must learn to trust each other again in order to conquer their enemies and save their families.
Well written, the suspense and intrigue in this novel was what was missing from Trust the Wolf. I thought this was an excellent 2nd book to the series and really enjoyed that it flowed organically. There was not this immediate “Oh! I forgive you for betraying me.” Nik and Claire really had to work for their HEA. And as a bonus I totally love that we got to meet up with Emilia and Jason again AND that we got some Zach/Mat action! I’m working through my TBR so Make Him Howl is up next! I can’t wait to see what happens with Gabriel and Parker!
If you haven’t picked up this series yet, DO IT!!

Truth or Bear (Shift Book 2) by Zoe Ashwood is a second chance shifter Romance with more than one type of shifter in the book. Is a standalone but it’s best read after the first book to answer any of the questions that arise. I enjoyed the book and recommend it to anyone that likes shifter Romance.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
Truth or Bear is the 2nd book in Zoe Ashwood’s Shift series, a sort of enemies-to-lovers romance with a heroine bear shifter and a hero wolf shifter. Claire and Nikolai are on opposite sides of a shifter conflict that is set up in the 1st book in the series.
Claire is high up in an organization that polices and oversees shifters. Nik works for a rogue shifter organization, although he believes that the organization does good. However, Nik loses his position after Claire infiltrates the rogue organization.
Nik and Claire had become lovers while Claire was undercover and Nik is unable to assassinate her when she is caught. Nik flees and is able to help Claire’s family rescue her. Nik is then cut off from his family and his friends – his entire life really.
Nik and Claire have to work to rebuild their relationship. Nik has to come to understand that the organization to which he gave his utter allegiance is a corrupt one and figure out if he can work for a group he has always believed to be problematic.
I quite love Zoe Ashwood’s paranormal shifter world. There is a series arc mostly dealing with the brewing war between Nik’s rogue organization and the ruling shifter group (called SANA). There is setup for Truth or Bear in the 1st book, so I would recommend starting there.
Nik and Claire have great chemistry – and their relationship is quite sexy, although much of it is conducted while Nik is being watched. He has to prove himself to both Claire and the rest of Claire’s family (one of the ruling SANA families).
The Shift books are one of the few shifter series which does not rely upon the idea of fated mates – shifters who only have one mate. There is no mating frenzy, just two people falling in love. And I love this concept and enjoy the romances more because of it.
Zoe Ashwood has created an intriguing shifter world in her Shift series, one that I am quite keen to follow. Claire and Nik’s romance is complicated by the fact that they were on opposite sides of an important shifter battle.
However, Claire and Nik overcome their difference to forge a strong bond. Nik has the harder journey because he learns that he has been loyal to an evil group for most of his life. But fortunately, he has Claire to help.
Truth or Bear is a great and emotionally satisfying romance that should appeal to fans of shifter stories. Don’t forget to start with Trust the Wolf!
Book Disclosure: An ebook was provided by the author.
TRUTH OR BEAR by Zoe Ashwood is a wonderful story to read. This is book number two in this wonderful series that I loved reading so far. I can not wait to read the next book in this series and I highyl recommend this story to everyone who loves bear shifter stories as much as I do.

A captivating read from beginning to end! An exciting storyline that leaves you breathless wanting more! Sexy steam filled chemistry! Emotionally heartfelt, enjoyable and fun! One heck of a twisted, intense rollercoaster ride! An amazing must read!

Claire and Nik are perfect for each other, well after Nik works through Claire’s betrayal. They have to stop Maxwell but will Nik be able to trust Claire? Oh my the suspense in this book is top notch and along with the action-packed scenes I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait for the next installment of this series!!
Very intense, suspenseful, exciting, fun, emotional and so much more. Very in-depth characters with a great story. She ruins him in a lot of ways and then ends up needing him to help her. What a mess. I voluntarily review this for booksprout.

This is the second book in this series, but it is easy to pick up who and what the main protagonists are. I like that Nik and Claire tried, but ultimately, feelings are feelings. A really enjoyable read, well balanced. I will now go back and read the first instalment whilst waiting for the next one.

Wow! This is a fantastic book. It is action packed, adventurous and romantic. The balance between romantic conflict, action, adventure and steamy romance is just perfect. The characters are wonderful and relatable. The ending is incredible and leaves you wanting the next book. I highly recommend this book. I can’t wait for the next book.
Truth or Bear picks up where Shifter book 1 “Trust the Wolf” leaves off. It won’t kill the storyline of this book if you don’t read Trust the Wolf but I would recommend starting with book one just so you get the full story.
Claire and Nick’s story is full of action, bullets flying, suspense, and swoony scenes. I love the connection that is evident between the two of them despite their original political differences. We also get to catch up with Emilia and Jason, Mat and Zach, and the Shades.
I can’t wait to read the third book!!
Such an amazing read. Nik and Claire’s chemistry was amazing and HOT. This book is filled with danger, action-packed fighting, and romance. Couldn’t put this book down, reading on the edge of my seat. Can’t wait for the next book in the series. Highly recommend this book. Received this book in a giveaway, thank you
