CARTER
The ultimate tragedy is losing someone you love forever, and it’s about to happen to me a second time.
Locke’s attitude, reputation, and living space all make him the worst fit, but the choice is no longer mine.
He’s the father, and I’m about to move in with him.
Locke’s entitled to be surprised. I resisted him because he was my best friend’s ex, and now I’ve shown up with his baby.
But I swear, it’s not what you think…
And you won’t expect our love story, either.
WARNING: TRUSTING YOU is an angsty, slow burn, funny, steamy, reluctant roommate romance with cursing and gasp-worthy scenes.
SAFETY NET: There is no cliffhanger and it can be read as a standalone!

When Carter’s best friend, Paige, dies leaving behind an 11 month old daughter and the declaration of who her father is, it is up to Carter to find baby Lily’s dad, Lochlan “Locke” Hayes and see if he’s able and willing to be the parent Lily needs.
Locke was a player. Unfortunately for him, he was only a player in the bedroom now after a knee injury put a halt to the NFL career he had just been contracted to. Devastated was an understatement and he spiralled into a world of painkillers and women. Twelve months later a tornado of a woman, Carter Jameson, comes barrelling into his life telling him he has a daughter he never knew about and that he suddenly had to be the responsible, stand up guy this little girl needed him to be.
Carter is beside herself when she has to hand over the baby she has helped raise to a “stranger” but when Locke offers to let her stay a little while, to help with the transition and help him learn how to care for Lily, she jumps at the chance. A whole month to say goodbye. But a lot can happen in just 4 weeks. Will she be able to say goodbye when the times comes, not only to Lily but to Locke too? Will Locke let Carter leave when he realises she is more to him than just a girl who helped look after Lily?
I enjoyed this. I’ve never read Ketley Allison before but I found her to write in a way that makes the story feel real, which is always a sign of a good writer to me. There were times I felt Carter to be a bit annoying in that she was always pecking at Locke no matter what he did; after all it wasn’t his fault that he didn’t know he had a child, and she should have been more considerate of that especially as he had been letting her stay with Lily when really, he could have quite easily just told her to leave. She had no right to be there after all. Overall I found this to be a good read and I’ll certainly be looking out for future books in this series. I give Trusting You 4 stars.
Ketley Allison you are, without a doubt, one of my favorite authors from now on. There are no words to describe what a beautiful book you created but I will try to.
It amazed me how a book that seemed like a cliché turned out into something that had me reflecting about the depth of what I was reading almost every single page.
I love how you described to perfection and in a funny way what it is to be parents of a baby who doesn’t speak words, craves all the attention in the world, but at the end, calls mom and dad the ones who really were there for them all the way.
This book was no longer than others that I read, but this 348 pages, somehow, ended up fulfilling me so much more.
Thank you for your work. I can’t wait to read more of your books. I know they will never disappoint!
This book had good story content but the writing style moves really slow for me. It took me awhile to get engaged with the story. I would have said I didn’t want to read any more but somewhere along the line I got hooked on the story and I had to buy the next book.
Enjoyed the book…You’ll cry and open your heart to these characters. Take the time to read the book…It’s worth your time.
I struggled a little bit with this one. I mostly love all the characters & the story line is brilliant, but I felt like Carter had a little bit of a grudge problem & she has a hard time actually listening to Locke. They’re also not really “together” for the story. Idk, that part’s harder to explain.
Other than that, I did quite enjoy the story & the way they interact with each other & Lily when they’re together. I love the friendships Locke has with his guys, and his sister – whose book is next in the series – brings a good dimension to everything.
The peek into her story has me intrigued & I want to read it, so that’s a thumbs up!! : )
Make sure to have Kleenex
absolutely amazing – you have to read it its fantastic!!!!
Great read
Very gripping. I couldn’t put it down. Loved the flow of the storyline. The chemistry between the two. And the ending was great.
I’m not usually a weepy person, but sweet baby Christmas! My eyes we’re constantly filling with tears on this one.
Honestly, I felt for Locke the entire time. Carter – not so much.
Fairly well edited.
So, Locke and Paige hook up at a party at the end of college. Locke goes off to the NFL, only to suffer a career ending injury in his first game. Can you say devastated? Just as he’s trying to put his life back together and find a direction, Carter shows up on his doorstep. While he was living and trying to survive – Paige found herself pregnant. Her bestie Carter stood beside her through the whole pregnancy. Just after sweet little Lily is born, Paige is diagnosed with cancer and is terminal. Again, Carter stands beside her. On her deathbed, Paige finally tells Carter that the father of her baby is Locke, and makes Carter promise to take baby Lily to her father. It should not be missed that Carter had her own crush on Locke in college – something I am sure ‘bestie’ Paige had to have known.
Carter works to keep her promise to Paige. She goes to Locke, but is none too happy with the fact that he is going to get custody of ‘her’ child. She has an understandable attachment to Lily, but it is not within her right to keep Lily from her father. A father, I might add, who’d had no idea he had a child. Along the way, Locke rightfully wonders if he’d ever have known about his child if Paige hadn’t died. Carter is not processing her grief well at all (I’m being really kind here) and demonizes Locke at every turn. I kept thinking Carter is not dealing with the betrayal of her ‘friend’, the loss of her ‘friend’, or the fact that Lily IS NOT her child. I think we are supposed to feel sorry for Paige, but she seemed very selfish in her treatment of Carter and of Locke. Carter was so very lucky that Locke had compassion on her and let her stay when it was perfectly within his right to send her right back to Florida.
In the end, Carter finally gets herself together. Locke might need to be nominated for sainthood just for enduring her brand of crazy. Fortunately, Lily was so young she had no idea of the drama around her. Hoping the rest of the crew find love while dealing with outside issues instead of the mental and emotional swamp that Locke endured. Enjoy.
Terrific story woven by a wonderful author
Kelley Allison is a special author, one who can pull you into a unique secret baby romance and make you wish you were part of the gang.
Both Locke and Carter have had more than their share of life-altering losses in their lives, but there is now something bigger at stake … or smaller if you think about size … and they must navigate Lily’s future as they dance around their growing attraction towards each other and face up to unresolved issues of the past.
Locke is recovering from a life altering and career ending injury on the field. He’s well known to Carter, as they both were in college together. He’s struggling to figure out his next move when Carter and Lilly appear. Carter doesn’t keep her low opinion of Locke to herself, but agrees to help with the transition. It’s a story about letting yourself give into redemption and realizing that your past doesn’t define your future.
This book is my favorite in the series, featuring Astor, Ben, Asher, and Easton. The author has woven a wonderful series, which can be read as standalone or (in my case) out of order. The characters are like visits from favorite friends, with realistic witty dialogue and spicy scenes between Locke and Carter.
This is a must read… and Ketley Allison is a “must follow” author.Ketley Allison
I liked this book. Lots and Lots of angst and drama as Carter’s best friend dies and leaves her baby daughter Lily behind. Locke lost his NFL career before it really got started and isn’t dealing well with his new reality so the surprise of being a dad is the wakeup call of all wakeup calls. I liked this storyline as it weaved through the characters. I really liked the characters, they weren’t perfect and not always nice but they were “real”. It’s a good book and I liked it.
Both Carter and Locke were at ground zero, battling to survive the knocks life had given them and not doing all that great a job at it. But a baby girl, Lily, needed them, forcing them to grow up and focus on learning to be the best people they could be. This enemies to lovers slow-burn romance hit all the feels while the story’s twists and turns kept me turning the pages right to the end.
Carter Jameson’s best friend Paige has died of cancer and Carter promised her that she would introduce Paige’s daughter, Lily, to the father she has never met. Carter is scared that introducing Lily to her father will cause her to lose Lily and the last link she has to Paige.
Lachlan “Locke” Hayes was a college football superstar but in his first NFL game he suffers a knee injury that ended his career. Now he is more of a womanizer who has no trouble with women.
When Carter meets Locke she is devastated to see that he is Lily’s father but knows she may be better off with him than in foster care. Will Locke accept help from Carter in helping Lily settle or will he push her away? When Carter learns the truth about the night Paige and Locke were together will she walk away?
This was a great book and there were a few twists and turns that I definitely was not expecting.
I thought Carter was a great character and I was so sad when Paige died and that Lily could not stay with Carter. I was glad that she was able to accompany Lily to Locke but I felt terrible that she had to walk away.
I loved how shell-shocked Locke was to discover Lily and how/when he found out. I was impressed that he was ready to take on the responsibility of being a father. I was also glad that he recognized that he could not do it on his own.
I was freaking out after the stairs incident and I was completely shocked with what Astor revealed about Locke and Paige. I completely understood why Carter had to leave and I definitely thought she was doing the right thing.
I loved how Locke was able to turn everything around and get me the happy ending I wanted!!
Enjoyed reading Carter and Locke’s love story. Emotional read. Carter is not expecting Carter and the news she announce. He’s struggling with current changes in his life that affected his future and he’s not ready for another life changing event. Carter was not looking forward to telling Carter the news she promised to tell. There’s lots of chemistry between the two. Sensitive topic addressed and author presented the topic well thought the book. Engaging read. Recommended read.
This story really is a tragedy more than a romance. An ex ball player and a heartbroken young woman with a baby in tow. Follow these two as they navigate around each other, he never new about his daughter and she has despised him far to long. This book could be an enemies to lovers romance but she really just loves that little girl. Him being a booze and floozy hound to a single dad , just as he thought his life could not get any worse now hes falling for the whole package.

I loved everything about this book it was such a great book.
I could not put it down once I started it and did not want it to end when I got there.
This book about true love, making mistakes and fighting for what you want.
Great character development, steamy sex scenes and twists and turns to really be able to sink into the book.

4.5 stars
It took me three days to finish this book and that is saying something. I usually read through books quickly whether I enjoy or not, but this book I didn’t want it to end! I fell in love with the whole book from that heartbreaking beginning to the sweet ending. Carter and Locke were not perfect and they both had broken hearts for different reasons but they had a similar goal and that was being good to Lily. Both characters had some annoying qualities, but their redeeming qualities outweighed the bad.
Locke’s friend were very interesting, I couldn’t really tell if they ever warmed up to Carter.
I will say Carter’s hate/love moments towards Locke at the end did get a little tiresome. I would have loved to have seen more of them as a couple; the ending for them was a bit abrupt.
I do want to see more of Astor and Ben 😉
And maybe there will be something going on with Asher and Sophie?
