A Wall Street Journal bestseller.
From bestselling author Susan Stoker comes a sizzling new series about four former military operatives who rid the world of the worst of humanity while fighting to protect the best part of their lives: the women they love.
Former military operative Carson “Bull” Rhodes hasn’t dated seriously since he and his teammates left the army. Since then he’s opened … the army. Since then he’s opened Silverstone Towing—which is a front for his other job: hired killer. When kindergarten teacher Skylar Reid calls for help while stranded on the side of the interstate, the attraction is instant. The problem is Bull’s career has jaded him. Skylar’s innocent, and he wants to keep her that way.
Cautious by nature, Skylar never expected to fall in love with her tow truck driver. Even so, once Bull reveals what he really does for a living, she’s not sure she can handle it. When Skylar faces threats that have nothing to do with Bull’s job but are just as deadly, the stakes are higher than ever.
With the help of the Silverstone team, Bull will use everything he’s learned over the years to bring the woman he loves home—because the alternative is unthinkable.

This is a great start to a new series! Looking forward to reading the rest of the crew!
Thank you Netgalley and Montlake for the opportunity to read a copy.
Trusting Skylar is the first in a new romantic suspense series from the fantastic Susan Stoker. In this installment we are introduced to the men of Silverstone and how they came to be. We meet Carson “Bull” Rhodes and the woman who tames and inflames him kindergarten teacher Skylar Reid. Skylar is the reason that Bull does what he does even before he met her. Now that he has he is smitten. I read this in one sitting and am so looking forward to seeing who the other guys find.
I am a huge fan of this author and this new series has really started off with a bang! It never gets tiring as Ms. Stoker always manages to give us brave and protective new heroes, kick butt heroines and amazing new stories. I love Bull (Carson) and the other guys and their whole dynamic. All are such likable people. Skylar and Bull are perfect together. It took meeting someone like her to make Bull stop and see what he was missing and wanted in his life, someone special to share the time he wasn’t working with. And meeting Skylar, the attraction and need to know her was immediate. Great story, fantastic characters and the way it is all put together. The bonus is all his buddies, his family, love her too! I love this book!!
I volunteered to read and review an advanced readers copy through Netgalley of Trusting Skylar . This is the first book in new series Silverstone . This story is absolutely Outstanding . It’s full of suspense and intrigue along with romance . It’s definitely action packed . Carson (Bull) Rhodes meets Skylar Reid when he is towing her car after it breaks down . They both find themselves attracted . They soon start dating but Bull isn’t sure if he can trust Skylar to stick with him . Bull has a big secret about what he and his buddies do behind the towing company . When Bull finally tells Skylar she sends him away . Skylar is taken before she can talk to him . Bull will do whatever it takes to find and rescue her . This is a fabulous start to the series , that I think will be as spectacular .
I look forward to reading the next . Mrs Stoker never disappoints . I highly recommend taking the time to read .
Trusting Skylar by Susan Stoker is a 5 star read.
This is the first book in the new Mountain Mercenaries series and like all her other books it starts out great and just gets better.
When the military threatened to separate his delta force team and an FBI guy makes them an offer they can’t refuse, Carson “Bull” Rhodes and his friends start up Silverstone Towing, a towing company that is a front for the real job they do, hired killers, they go after the real bad guys that no one else has been able to get, 5 years in and Bull is starting to feel a little jaded but when a call for a tow truck puts him in front of Skylar, Bull knows she could be someone special but he’s reluctant to change the innocent woman in front of him.
Skylar Reid is a kindergarten teacher and she loves her job, one night on her way home her car breaks down and the tow truck driver seems a little rude while he’s telling her how to be safe. Falling in love with Bull was unexpected but when she finds out what he really does for living she’s not sure she can handle it but when danger comes calling can she start to see things differently?
I really loved this new group of men, I can wait to read the next books.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy of this book through Netgalley.
Great Beginning!! This is the first book in Ms. Stoker’s newest series Silverstone Towing and it was GREAT!! I loved getting to know Carson “Bull” Rhodes and Skylar. The relationship between these two had my heart betting double time. It was loving and sexy. Bull’s protectiveness was swoon worthy and Skylar’s sunny outlook on the world was refreshing in a world filled with chaos right now. Also, the suspense kept me on my toes and actually surprised me with the little twist toward the end. I like when a story keeps me on my toes and this was perfect.
This is book 1 in the Silverstone series but this team was mentioned briefly in the last book in the Mountain Mercenaries series. Carson “Bull” Rhodes is a former special forces military man who doesn’t really date since he and his friend’s left the military. He and his friend’s opened Silverstone Towing and while it is a legitimate business, they use it as a front for what they do on the side. but it also helps to ground him when he is not off being a paid killer. Skylar Reid is a kindergarten teacher who calls for a tow after being stranded on the side of the road. The attraction between them is instant but Bull doesn’t think that he should tarnish Skylar. She is too innocent, too sweet for a man like him. And once she finds out what he truly does, she doesn’t know if she can handle it. But when she faces something that is beyond her comprehension, she finally starts to understand. And knows that people like him are necessary. And prays that Bull can find her and save her in time.
I absolutely loved this book! This is the perfect way to start a series! Bull has so many hangups about what he does but he does it knowing that it is truly needed in this world. And reading about how it makes him feel just made me love him even more than I already did. He and his “brothers” have hearts of gold and the drive to do the things that keep people safe. Regardless of how that affects them. Skylar definitely comes across as naive about the things that happen in real life. But she has this spine of steel. And when it comes down to protecting someone that needs it, she might be afraid but she still does what needs to be done. They compliment each other perfectly! I loved every part of this book and I cannot wait to see where this series takes us!!
I loved Trusting Skylar! You start with a Delta unit going above and beyond and instead of the attaboy they should have received, they are to be removed from Delta and split up. As they go out to drink and commiserate they have a visitor, so instead they receive “help” and are able to leave the Army with a condition of accepting some side jobs if they agree. So, Carson “Bull” Rhodes and his Delta teammates, Eagle, Gramps and Smoke, have left the Army and now own and operate Silverstone Towing, though that’s not all they do, they also do some side jobs, taking out high value targets, just as they did with Delta. After returning from one such mission, Bull is decides he’s a little antsy, so he goes to Silverstone and goes out on a tow. Skylar Reid, a kindergarten teacher, has called for a tow after having car trouble. Bull, jaded by his years as a Delta and his current career, finds himself very attracted to the slightly serious yet quite naive teacher and can’t stay away. And Skylar is just as attracted to him, though has her reasons for not rushing. It takes them a little time to build their relationship, and it’s so sweet, seeing Bull have a sweet side, seeing Skylar meet the rest or the team, and how she is with her students. The thing is, at some point he has to come clean about what he does… will she be able to deal with it.
This opening novel to Susan Stoker’s new series is amazing. She has such an amazing talent for bringing you into her world and making you not want to leave! You become completely entrenched in Bull & Skylar’s story and not only are you cheering for them, but don’t want it to end. I can’t wait for the rest of the Silverstone Towing books to come out! I know they will be just as brilliant as Trusting Skylar!
A new series centered around a group of brother working to rid the world of evil and running a tow company. This is a slow burn romantic read. Bull is tired of nothing but work, he loved his work but something is missing. A chance meeting with Sklyar and Bull knows what’s missing. But will Sklyar accept Bull’s job, it’s too much a part of who he is but for the primary school teacher this might be too far out of her comfort zone. A super sweet, slow burn read that make you root for Bull from the start. A bit of action, suspense throw in to keep the Susan Stoker theme alive. I totally enjoyed and want more stories from the Silverstone group!
A new series from Susan Stoker? Yes please!!! You get a whisper of the the possibility of a new series in the Mountain Mercenaries and am ecstatic to finally be reading the first book in the series. I loved when Bull just laid it all out for Skylar on their first date. His words he speaks to her are beautiful. I want/need a Bull in my life. I truly enjoy a book where a man is man enough to know what he likes and doesn’t beat around the bush. Susan Stoker always gives you the action and suspense you crave along with romance and a HEA. So cannot wait for the next book in this series, actually I cannot wait any book by this author
This is book one in The Silverstone Series and it is Carson (bull) and Skylar’s story and omg what a story it is. Bull left the army and opened Silverstone Towing company and it was a front for there job as hired killers along with his best friend and teammates and they took out the dregs of society. Kylar is a kindergarden teacher and she absolutely loved her job and when her car starts to play up and made funny noises she called Silverstone Towing and it was Bull who went to her rescue. Kylar and Bull had an instant connection but Kylar had led a sheltered life and Bull was so jaded but they were so perfect for each other and it complimented the light and the dark that was Skylar and Bull. There are twists and turns that you don’t see coming but you have to keep turning the pages to see what would happen next and you are definitely not disappointed as the characters and storyline pulled you in and you can’t put this book down as it is so addictive. This is an amazing start to a new series and I can’t wait to read the next book. I loved Bull, Eagle, Gramps and Smoke so much as they were so connected and had each other’s back regardless of the situation and who wouldn’t want these men in your corner. Susan Stoker is an amazing author and writer and every one of her books are true masterpieces and you definitely need to read this book and others by her and you will not be disappointed.
I voluntarily reviewed an Arc copy of this book.
An absolutely amazing start to this new series! Four strong alpha men, formerly of Delta Force, who now work in conjunction with the FBI to take out the monsters that no one else can. Carson “Bull, aka Bullseye” Rhodes is part owner of Silverstone Towing, a legitimate business which encompasses the operation of their side business. He meets kindergarten teacher Skylar Reid when her car breaks down and needs a tow. He is immediately attracted to her innocence and knows that his past makes it impossible to pursue her…but he can’t help himself. Skylar is attracted to Carson, but what will she think when she learns about his past and his continued work for the country? When Skylar is in danger, her safety is his only concern. A man who has found a woman that he never thought he would and a woman who brings light into his life. Wonderful story – the characters, the writing, the emotion – loved it and can’t wait for the next book in the series! I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (by paytonpuppy)
My Rating:
Trusting Skylar is the first book in The Silverstone series by Susan Stoker.
Loved the connection between Skylar and Carson “Bull”.
Sky is a schoolteacher that has lead a shelter live and that doesn’t see the bad in people.
Bull has seen lot of bad things and people in his life and he wants to protect Skylar from all the evilness in life.
The relationship between the H/h was sweet. Bull was so sweet and gentle with Skylar.
The suspense and the little dark content had me angsty. Very good written and couldn’t put it down.
Looking forward to read more of this series.

For readers yet to experience romance in the hands of this bestselling author… What are you waiting for?
I look forward to seeing how this series progresses and the delights that are undoubtedly coming!
This is the first book in a brand new series by the very talented Susan Stoker and just like all of her books you are taken on an adventure ride with all the requisite danger and drama that you have come to expect in her books
Bull, Eagle gramps and Smoke are a Delta Force team that do the almost impossible mission and time aftertime they have accomplished on their latest mission to eliminate a terrorist target they come across a high value target that no one expected to be there They make the decision to eliminate that person as well a decision that leads to them been reprimanded and split up and moved to various training posts. Before this can happen a FBI agent comes to them and suggests that they start work for him and his agency they will still do the job that they are currently doing it but officially they will no longer work for the government Needing a cover they set up a business as the Silverstone Towing Company This business will lead Carson “Bull” Rhodes to the love of his life when he returns from a job and needing a chance to unwind he takes a towing job that job is Skylar Reid she is the total opposite of him while he has been immersed in the dark side of life she is a kindergarten teacher who sees the best in everyone he is instantly attracted to her and knows that she is the one for him. When danger stalks her and one of her students he will do whatever he needs to in an effort to bring her back home to him and with the help of his team take a predator of the streets
Here is what I love about Susan’s books, they deal with things that are hard to read. For example, in this story there are guys who are basically assassins for the government. Are they good guys or bad guys? The differing points of views make you ask yourself the same question. Can Skylar deal with that or is it a no-go for her?
How can Susan make her heroes seem better than any man we have ever met? I applaud her for that because I fall in love with each hero in every book I have read. Bull is so sweet and caring, and yes alpha but he puts it in a way that makes you just nod you head yes. The slow romance of Bull and Skylar is so terribly sweet that it will keep you oohing and ahhing the whole time.
And of course there is the suspense part. I won’t give it away but the villain in this book creeped me out. Shivers…
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
A great start to this new series following four friends who, after their time comes to an end in the military, set up business together towing vehicles. Silverstone Towing isn’t just a towing company though, no, it’s also the base for their other job, undercover black ops, working to rid the world of evil. Book 1 follows Carson ‘Bull’ Rhodes as he meets and falls for kindergarten teacher Skylar Reid. Can Skylar accept Bull’s career choices? A slow burn romance with a little suspense. I loved Skylar. She was strong willed, independent and she had a big heart, she was the perfect match for Bull, who’s protective instincts came to the forefront when it came to Skylar. An enjoyable action romance with wonderful characters. I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.
It’s been a while since I’ve had the chance to get my hands on an advanced reader copy of a Susan Stoker novel, so long in fact that I’d forgotten just how fabulous her novels are, and this first book in her new Silverstone series, was a gem, and was it ever worth waiting for. I was hooked from the start and loved every minute of it–it’s a 5-star read.
Carson “Bull” Rhodes and his Delta Force teammates, Eagle, Gramps and Smoke, have formed a close bond/brotherhood over their many missions, and while taking down one terrorist leader, thanks to Eagle’s ability to never forget a face, they manage to not only take down their target, but one one slightly lower on the list at the same time. Instead of being lauded, their superiors are livid and it’s been decided that the team will be separated, and when their enlistments are up, will not be allowed to re-enlist. The guys are devastated, and while they’re drinking at a local bar, are approached by a stranger, who just may have the solution to their separation from each other and the military, and, after some discussion and surprising news, Silverstone Towing is born in Indianapolis–a legitimate business that’s a cover for these men to continue doing what they are best at–killing terrorists, serial killers, child sex-traffickers and drug lords. Five years later, it’s a successful venture and doing well.
One night, when Bull goes out to pick up a stranded driver and her car, he meets Skylar Reid, who is unlike anyone he’s ever met–she’s a 32-year-old kindergarten teacher with a heart of gold, and when Bull gets on her case about pulling off the road near a copse of trees, the fact that she never asked him to prove who he was, was standing outside her car when he arrived, she’s both put off by his domineering attitude but attracted to his protectiveness, his good looks, and soon, his charm–and so their relationship begins, and I absolutely loved these two characters and the way their relationship developed. Big, tough, dominant Bull has a truly sweet and sensitive side that drew Skyler and this reader like a bee to a rose garden. As a former teacher, Skylar’s love, commitment and dedication to her giving her young, disadvantaged students the best start in life she possibly could, impressed the heck out of Bull, as well as it impressed me. And when the relationship between these two really heats up–wow!
This is far more than a simple romance novel–there are stumbling blocks ahead, some you will see coming and some you won’t. If you think that wondering how Skylar will handle the truth about what Bull and his friends really do when they aren’t towing cars, is the only one, are you ever going to be surprised–especially considering the fact that there is another mission ahead soon, time is short in this new relationship, and if that isn’t enough, there’s a plot twist I certainly didn’t see coming.
This was, quite simply, an excellent, emotional, tender, steamy, well-paced, well written, well plotted novel with wonderful characters and I cannot recommend it highly enough, and, finally, I cannot wait to read the rest of the novels in this series!
As stated at the outset, I voluntarily read an advanced reader copy of this novel. The opinions expressed are my own.
Susan Stoker always manages to to write fascinating characters. The former Delta team members who make up Silverstone are all quite appealing characters. Silverstone is the towing company that is the front for the guys’ job of taking out terrorists and other such evil-doers. In this story Carson “Bull” Rhodes meets kindergarten teacher Skylar Reid when her car stops working properly on her way home from school and she calls Silverstone to tow her car. Bull is attracted to her when they meet. Skylar trusts Bull right away and agrees to a date. There’s plenty of action and suspense to keep readers turning the pages before Bull and Skylar get their HEA. I enjoyed this first book in this series.
Trusting Skylar is a fantastic start to a new series! Right from the first meet, Bull’s protective instinct towards Skylar is triggered and never fully goes away. And right from the very beginning, Skylar knew she could trust Bull, she felt safe with him. I absolutely love how their relationship develops, they give each other the peace and safety net they didn’t know they needed. However, there was a major secret that Bull was keeping from Skylar and that definitely had me nervous throughout, but with the help of some friends, understanding and acceptance is fully reached.
This was such a great read, we have the great hero and heroine, a wonderful set of secondary characters to look forward to their stories, a storyline that keeps you engaged, danger and suspense that keeps you at the edge of your seat and the ultimate love story that makes it all worthwhile. A must read!
Thank you Netgalley and Montlake Romance for the complimentary copy of Trusting Skylar. All opinions are my own.
