A Wall Street Journal bestseller.
From bestselling author Susan Stoker comes a sizzling new series about four former military operatives who rid the world of the worst of humanity while fighting to protect the best part of their lives: the women they love.
Former military operative Carson “Bull” Rhodes hasn’t dated seriously since he and his teammates left the army. Since then he’s opened … the army. Since then he’s opened Silverstone Towing—which is a front for his other job: hired killer. When kindergarten teacher Skylar Reid calls for help while stranded on the side of the interstate, the attraction is instant. The problem is Bull’s career has jaded him. Skylar’s innocent, and he wants to keep her that way.
Cautious by nature, Skylar never expected to fall in love with her tow truck driver. Even so, once Bull reveals what he really does for a living, she’s not sure she can handle it. When Skylar faces threats that have nothing to do with Bull’s job but are just as deadly, the stakes are higher than ever.
With the help of the Silverstone team, Bull will use everything he’s learned over the years to bring the woman he loves home—because the alternative is unthinkable.

I didn’t think I was going to like this series as much as I am. I binged on Susan Stoker this summer, and found the books becoming a repetitive formula. But the Silverstone series feels fresh. Hot heroes and intriguing heroines. (and well-edited) I might not have tried it, except this first book was free for me on Amazon prime (library program). But I’ve already bought the rest of the series.
What a great start to a fab new series! Loved “Bull” and Skylar!! And as a former teacher, I always love when teachers are the leading ladies! Wonderful story!
This was an interesting story, although a bit unrealistic at times, but enjoyable none the less. There’s great chemistry between the MCs, but sometimes they were portrayed as too good to be true. Sometimes Skylar’s naivete and goodness were a little over the top and Carson is the softest, sweetest, caring “toughy” ever, but somehow the concept of these two opposites works.
This is a nice romance with a very exciting conclusion that can be read as a standalone.
Caron ‘Bull’ Rhodes is a member of an elite Delta Force team, tasked with finding and taking out the most evil terrorists on the planet. When a mission doesn’t go according to plan, they take the fall and the unit is disbanded. But the night before they go their separate ways, they’re given an opportunity to stay together in a new way. Now they run a successful towing truck company, but out of the back room they continue their special ops work in secret.
‘Bull’, ‘Smoke’, ‘Eagle’ and ‘Gramps’, are family to one another, but there has never been any room for love. ‘Bull’, named for his ability to hit any shot in the bullseye is feeling particularly restless. He loves his work, but he he wants love and a family. Coming off another successful mission, he heads out to tow a stranded driver, and finds Skylar; a sweet and innocent kindergarten teacher. He’s drawn to her immediately, and summons up the courage to ask her out.
Their romance begins tentatively. Skylar can’t believe this strong, handsome man is interested in her, and is wary that he’s too good to be true. As their relationship deepens, Bull knows he has to tell her about his other job, but will he lose this trusting woman when she discovers he’s a killer? And who is lurking in the bushes around the school watching Skylar at work?
Susan Stoker is a master of romantic suspense, with over eighty books to her name. Trusting Skylar is the first book in her Silverstone Series and I loved it. Bull is kind, gentle, caring, and completely badass, and Skylar is sweet without being a sappy walkover. What I particularly loved about this book was how their relationship developed. Bull was restrained and respectful towards Skylar, holding himself back, and never putting her under any pressure for sex, or to be anyone other than herself. He reminded me of the character Tom Hardy plays in ‘This Means War’ – someone kind and considerate, whilst also being hot AF. And when the steam does come, so does Skylar. Many, many times…
If you’re after a romantic suspense story with a hero who isn’t a dick, and who would charm your family and friends before taking you home to show you heaven, you need Trusting Skylar in your life!
I loved reading this Romantic Suspense!! He’s an ex-military, assassin, alpha, gorgeous hunk of man! She’s a kindergartner teacher, who sees the good in people and puts herself out there to help, especially her students and their parents. Carson (aka Bull) and Skylar are a great couple, who are worlds different, but perfect for each other. The suspenseful part had me on the edge of my seat!!
It’s always a flag waving event when a new SS series is launched. She rarely (if ever!) misses the mark and you know you are in for an exciting ride that will leave you begging for the next in the series.
This book hits the mark, amazing in its world building you are immediately drawn into both a backstory that gives credence to the characters and explains some of their unique individual facets, and a current up to date state of play that gives them an obvious platform to continue doing what they do best.
The world of Silverstone is deep with roadside recovery at the front, level 10 baddie destroying at the back and a lot of being honest to goodness nice people in the middle.
Bull leads the team and is super confident, happy in his life and satisfied with the work he does (both front of house and in the dark)
He meets Skylar after rescuing her after her card breaks down and immediately falls for her and wants to meet her again.
Skylar is slow to trust and struggles to understand why he feels this for her but eventually he wins her over with his persistence, caring and demonstrations of his adoration.
I thought the romance elements of this book were really well written and whilst SS never makes romance easy, and the characters have to work for their HEA, you know they will eventually get there. The unknown element with SS is always what peril, pain and discord will be introduced in her stories and this book is no different.
SS lays such a strong trail for breadcrumbs in this story you will have yourself convinced you know where it’s going before there is a sudden derailing of the train into an absolute terrifying crash you didn’t see coming…so unexpected yet ultimately satisfying in the end.
Another amazing read
Taking out two of the most wanted on the FBI list in one mission caused Bull’s team to face a harsh punishment by separating the team and stationing each one to a different base. They were deciding what’s their next move will be when Gregory Willis, FBI Intelligence, suggested a new job offer. He wants them to keep doing what they’re doing but with the FBI. The team moves to Indianapolis where they start their cover business as a towing company. Years later Skylar calls Silverstone to help her tow her car and Bull is the one taking the call to go help her.
This book was outstanding. Anyone who likes to read about the good guys doing the dirty work to keep people safe, this is a good pick.
I loved the relationship the characters have with each other. How Skylar stayed calm in the face of hardships. The guys on the team making sure no one gets hurt.
It’s an amazing read, you won’t be disappointed.
“Trusting Skylar” is the first book in the Silverstone series, about four former military operatives that have opened Silverstone Towing as a front for their most important job. These four men work together like a well oiled machine, and they rid the world of the worst of humanity, the scum. This is the story of Carson “Bull” Rhodes and kindergarten teacher, Skylar Reid. Skylar has to call Silverstone Towing when she is stranded on the side of the interstate but she never expected the instant attraction to the handsome tow truck driver. Bull wants to get to know Skylar better, she is sweet, somewhat naive and he is drawn to her, but can she accept what he and his friends do?
Skylar always goes above and beyond for the children in her class, helping in any way she can. She loves them as much as they love her, and will do whatever it takes to protect them. Sweet and naive she may be but she proves that she can hold her own when needed to.
Great start to a new series!!
Trusting Skylar (Silverstone #1) by Susan Stoker – So when I won book 3 in this series in a Goodreads giveaway, I was thrilled that the series is on kindle unlimited! I do try to read books in order! Bull is a secretly operating Delta Force soldier who works with the FBI to take out some of the worst humans on the planet. Using their towing company as cover, Bull and his friends quietly protect the world. And it’s all going fine until Bull takes the tow truck out to rescue a stranded kindergarten teacher and falls head over heels for Skylar. But Skylar’s trusting and generous nature lands her in trouble, so it’s a good thing her boyfriend and the ladies next door have scary friends! This one has some really sweet moments along with the action! Happy Reading!
Susan Stoker is pure genius with her writing. Engaging characters, interesting plots, always a happily ever after.
I loved this story!! Bull and Skylar were awesome! I loved how Bull didn’t look down on Skylar for her being innocent and naive to certain things in the world. She looked for the good in people and tried to never judge someone for what was on the outside. Bull wanted to protect and preserve that and keep her safe, not change that part of her personality. I loved seeing these two together and the openness that they shared pretty much from the beginning. This is a well written story that pulled me in from beginning to end and had plenty to hold my attention the entire time. I can’t wait to see the others find their women and get more with these characters!
I fell in love with this book I don’t even know exactly what’s that I like so much, bit definitely one of the best susan stoker books. Highly recommended
I loved reading Trusting Skylar by Susan Stoker and thus book was a great way to start this new series. I enjoyed seeing how this team was formed and the friendships among all of them was wonderful. Bull and Skylar had great chemistry from the beginning and I enjoyed watching their relationship play out. They came from completely different worlds so it was not an easy road for them to get their HEA, but Skylar proved that she was one strong woman who could be with a man like Bull no and survive the unexpected situation she unwittingly found herself in. This story was a page turner and I devoured it in one sitting.
Fantastic
The first book in the Silverstone and I am looking forward the the rest of the series. I expect them to be good as books from Susan Stoker usually are.
I loved the characters in this book. Bull is tough with a delicate side job. Skylar is a kindergarten teacher with a heart of gold and a joy for the children that she teaches. On paper they might not match but in reality they are perfect for each other.
Trusting Skylar is the first book in the Silverstone series and I can already tell that I am going to love reading the rest of the books and can’t wait to get to know all the characters.
This is another action packed story by Susan Stoker that has fantastic characters that you will easily fall for all wrapped up in a storyline that will keep the pages turning.
We all expect the male characters to have those alpha protective tendencies and Carson (Bull) Rhodes is no exception but wait until you meet the feisty, caring Skylar because she has those protective characteristics also, especially when it comes to her students. This story will keep you engaged for so many reasons so grab your copy. You will not be disappointed!
I had the pleasure of listening to the audio version of this story and the narrators definitely added to my enjoyment of this story.
Love her books
Great series!
I wasn’t sure I’d like a hero who was a (government-sanctioned) hired assassin but Susan Stoker overcame my objections. The hero is very human and the romance was excellent.
Awful.
