We are back in Mule Hallow with the Holden brothers, in this clean Christian romance.
These are three brothers whose childhood was filled with abandonment and an alcoholic father. Despite their past, they have become honorable men, but not without emotional scars.
This time it’s Jess’s story and the gal that intrigues him, Gabi Newberry.
Gabi is the new vet assistance and her grandmother , Adela, is one of the local matchmakers.
Gabi is in town, not only for a new job, but to continue to heal from her past. A past that will likely keep her away from Jess.
From the moment they meet, an attraction is sparked but both carry emotional baggage and neither really wants to commit.
Will they remain caught in the pain of their pasts, or will they take a step forward to a new beginning?
Looking forward to what’s in store for the youngest brother, Colt.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
I love this author
I love this series. In fact, I love all of Debra’s books. If you have never read any of her books, then you should start now. They are very funny, with the 3 matchmakers. They are full of twists and turns, romance and happy ever afters. The characters are fantastic, the storylines are great in each and every book. This one is no exception. One of my favorite writers.
Gabi has had problems with men and Jess doesn’t trust women so they do not want romance. He saves her in a flood, she saves his cattle.
Trust of a Cowboy is book two in the Texas Brides and Bachelors series. Jess and Gabi’s story is one you won’t be able to put down and you won’t soon forget. This one really touched me. I definitely recommend it.
Jess Holden realizes he has a big problem when he finds dead cattle while delivering hay. But he finds his heart in an even bigger problem when he has to work with the vet tech to find the source of what is killing his heifers. He’s said all along that he has no interest in settling down with a wife and kids.
Gabi Newberry knows that her past is a problem that she has to deal with. And when she learns about Jess’ father, she fears that her past could be a deal breaker for any future relationship with him.
What follows is a story that does not shy away from the rude reality of alcohol abuse. Yet, the author clearly shows how God’s redemption in our lives can overcome even the worst problems.
Themes covered – alcohol abuse, forgiveness, God’s guidance in our lives, and persevering in solving a problem.
Romance – PG /kissing
Language – clean
Violence – reference to a fatal accident
My rating – 5 stars
Veterinarian assistant, Gabi, is an excellent female protagonist in Trust of a Cowboy! Gabi has changed her life after causing an auto accident while driving drunk. Ranch owner and cowboy, Jess, has emotional scars from his childhood and doesn’t plan to ever marry but when cute Gabi is sent to investigate why cattle are being found dead, he doesn’t have a chance! You will love this clean romance by Debra Clopton with an emphasis on forgiveness. I received a complimentary e-book of Trust of a Cowboy from the author. This is my honest opinion.
This author always has so much heart, emotion and laughter in her books! This story is a great example of that! Her characters are wonderful and in this tale, the female lead, Gabi Newberry, is getting over a broken engagement so she returns to Mule Hollow to be with her grandma. I loved Gabi and her strength as she tries to deal with things from her past (no spoilers!). The hero, Jess Holden, has plenty of “issues from his past” and he holds them close to the vest. Although his brothers have been able to get through a lot from their pasts, Jess hasn’t. Gabi is helping him in ways she doesn’t even realize, especially with his lack of faith. The journey that the Holden brothers have been on is a tough one. I was so glad to experience part of it through Jess’ story. This is a great read.
Jess and Gabi both have a past that is preventing them from falling in love. There are sparks but they both dig in their heels. They work so closely together that resisting love is difficult. Will a secret from her past keep them apart or draw them together. Loved how this a romance but also a christian faith based book.
As I write this review, I can’t help but chuckle over the initial meeting between Jess and Gabi. And I love how both of their points of view regarding the meeting was a part of the story.
Gabi has moved to Mule Hollow to start her life over after she has a “wake up” call. She’s determined to change her ways and live her faith. Jess has determined he will never marry due to his family life as he was growing up and his inability to forgive his mother. But will he be able to resist the attraction to Gabi as they spend more and more time together trying to figure out what is killing some of his cattle.
I have to confess that I absolutely love all of the books based around Mule Hollow and getting to revisit with the characters from previous books. I’m looking forward to reading Colt’s story.
