This is a very remarkable and emotional story about two people falling madly in love and how this love and trust changes their lives.
I felt for both Bear and Crystal in every single word of this story. It is heart wrenching in parts and deliciously sexy and heartily romantic all at the same time.
Melissa’s stories just keep on getting better and better. You dare not miss this one!
Truly, Madly, Whiskey by Melissa Foster
This is Crystal Moon and Bear Whiskey’s story.
Wow! This is a fantastic story! I loved Crystal and Bear’s characters. Crystal and Bear both have issues that they are working through. I loved how patient and loving Bear was to Crystal.
The style of writing just pulls you in and the story flows so well. This is a romantic, loving, and sensual read! Get comfy and escape into Crystal and Bear’s world. You will not be disappointed.
FYI, includes mature content. I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
“That was intense and freaking hot. Like a shot of…Whiskey. I want more Whiskey please!!!”
After finishing Tru Blue I thought I would die having to wait for the release of Truly, Madly, Whiskey. Surprisingly I am alive and the wait was well worth it! Forster has given her readers yet another astonishing book. This romance isn’t your typical man and woman meet and fall in love, it’s more like one big game of cat and mouse. Bear is determined that Crystal will be his and nothing will persuade him otherwise. Crystal might push Bear away but they both know that isn’t how she really feels. I couldn’t get enough of Bear Whiskey! He’s the perfect blend of alpha biker male and sweet caring gentleman. What’s not to love?
The story was told beautifully and between lots of internal conflicts with some external it kept readers drawn in. Throughout all the struggles Crystal proves how tenacious she is and no matter what life throws her way she will continue to be a survivor. I felt a connection to her character and really enjoyed that even though she was damaged in her past she wasn’t letting that take her down.
Foster draws readers into her world and write characters that will crawl right into your heart. I was glad to be able to see the progress with Tru and Gemma in this story. By bringing them and the others back it has me craving for more! I am excited to get to know the rest of the Whiskey siblings in their own books. I don’t want to ruin anything so I’ll just say that the ending had my eyes tearing up from all the happiness.
WOW just WOW. Ms. Foster has outdone herself with this one. It is definitely a must read.
I received free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Crystal has been trying to move past a horrible part of her past for a few years, making everyone think she is a badass girl with a thing for bikers. What she doesn’t want anyone to know is, she is trying to be strong.
Bear Whiskey is sweet, possessive, a biker and all alpha male. He fell for Crystal the first time he saw her, so he has been trying to catch her attention for eight months. He has been protecting her for that time too, even though Crystal doesn’t think so. So when he tries to kiss her, she seems to freak out and Bear doesn’t know what he has done wrong.
Crystal has to tell Bear about her past if they are going to have a future together. Will it chase him away? Does she tell Gemma about what happened at college without losing her BFF? Can Bear accept her choice to move on and not do anything about her past? Will Bear and Crystal have a future if he can’t let it go?
I loved Tru Blue and couldn’t wait for Bear’s story and I loved everything about it. I can’t wait for the other Whiskey siblings stories too.

“Because we both need to show that we’re not owned, but one.”
I love that Melissa Foster always makes me feel happy, and wanting more, at the end of her books. More of the story, the atmosphere around them, the family, and well, yeah, the hero. Melissa’s heroes are the protective alphas of my dreams, with a heart of gold, and hot everywhere.
“So, that scorching-hot kiss was holding back? Holy shit, Bear. Now I’m building you up in my mind to epic proportions you can never live up to.”
His eyes smoldered. “Wanna bet?”
Goddamnit, Bear Whiskey. I’ve always been a whiskey fan, and now I think I’m a fan of ALL the Whiskeys in this family, and I’ve only read 2 books. How can you not fall in love with this guy? It’s his possessive side, the alpha side, the I’m-gonna-kick-your-ass-if-you-mess-with-my-girl side. And then it’s the sweet side, the always-there-for-you side, the patient side, the loyal side. And it’s all wrapped up in one hot-as-sin, biker-riding body. Sign me up!
“She’d become so much more than the love of his life. She’d become his world.”
Crystal’s dealt with a lot of stuff. Most people would have crumbled under the weight of everything she went through, but she didn’t. She reinvented herself a few times, as a coping and defense mechanism. She has a life in the city she loves, working for her best friend, at a job she loves. She fought back, and she came back swinging. My kind of girl.
“There were so many seemingly unattainable moments, but she realized that falling in love didn’t count as one. Falling for Bear had been a massive number of moments woven together like an unbreakable web of love.”
From the first book in the series, it was plain to see these two were meant to be. Bear’s possessiveness towards Crystal was not misplaced, and he wasn’t pushy. They wanted each other, but she had so many walls around her that it wasn’t easy for him to break through. He went through it one concrete block at a time. Maybe a smaller man would have backed down, but Bear didn’t, because she was worth it. Everything about them was worth it.
“He wasn’t judging her or telling her how she should have handled it. He was holding her and still looking at her like she was the gasoline to his engine—and she wanted to be.”
Something that really needs to be emphasized about Melissa’s writing is that what you see is what you get. There is no lack of communication or drama just for the sake of it. These are characters who are open with each other, who trust wholeheartedly, and who give themselves up to the other completely.
After what Crystal went through, trust didn’t come easy. Especially when she knew that the persona she created really isn’t who she is, but who she thinks she has to be. She has so much to give, but all the past is dragging her back and swallowing her whole.
When Bear comes along, he knows he wants her. And it’s easy to see she wants him back, but doesn’t know how to go along with it. And the sweetness of him, his patience, his personality, and just him win her over. The chapter where she finally lets him in and shows him who she really is, even at a risk of losing him, really warmed my heart.
“When his arms circled her waist, bringing their bare chests together, it was like coming home. Warm, safe. Perfect.”
These two absolutely needed and deserved each other in the best possible way!
Their journey was one worth taking, from dealing with the past, to the romance, the sexiness, the chemistry between them, the family ties, the trust, the love. The sheer happiness of it all, and the happily ever after.
Can I have some more Whiskey please?
Edit to my original 2017 review*
I just listened to the audio version of this book narrated by Paul Woodson. Omg it is better then I remembered. I absolutely love audio books and Melissa has the best narrators reading her books.
I do not normally read stories about any type of abuse. However knowing the author Melissa is I knew she would with a beautiful story. I must say she did not disappoint me. Bear is an understanding, patient and kind hearted touch guy with a huge heart. Definitely a must read with a HEA with no cliffhangers.
Disappointing. I like to refer to books like this as cookie cutters. They are all alike with a few changes here and there.
This series pulls out all the feels, it is the good, the bad, the ugly, and the hope in life. Its about respecting each other, the trials that everyone has wrapped up in steamy, alpha , generous, tattoo biker Bear and oh so much more. It picks up after Truly Blu and can be read as stand alone, but I recommend reading Truly blu first. There is just so much that it brings to the table and enhances Truly, Madly, Whiskey. For Mature readers, trigger rape, abuse.
Bear Whiskey knows what he wants and will not give up until he gets it. And what he wants is Crystal Moon. Crystal Moon is living a life that is made up of lies. When tragedy happens in her life she reinvents herself.
Bear makes sure that he’s never far from Crystal’s thoughts. He is always there showing her that he cares for her. When she finally lets him in, the tenderness this big, tatted, burly alpha shows her is swoon worthy. Bear is the emotional one in his family and we really get to see his tender side.
Crystal covers up the hurt and tragedy that she suffered with a gothlike, one-night stand, cursing, tough girl attitude. But she really isn’t tough, or so she thinks. When she finally gives in to Bear and decides to work on her fear of men and love, we see her strength of character. Bear and Crystal’s love story is beautiful.
Melissa Foster writes characters that are soo full of depth and emotion, you are just drawn to them and their stories. I can’t wait to read more about Bear and Crystal in the future Whiskey stories.
Crystal’s life is not full of happy, carefree, childhood memories. When she escaped to college she thought her life had turned for the best until one decision changes her forever. Crystal has worked hard to put her life back together but she keeps everyone at a distance. Bear has become her friend but she won’t let herself trust him. Can Bear convince her to let down her walls and trust him with her heart?
This was my first Melissa Foster book and I am so looking forward to reading more. Even though this is book 2 in the series it read easily as a standalone, but I want to go back and get Tru and Gemma’s story. I loved Bear, he is tough on the outside but has a huge heart. His love and loyalty to those he loves shows in everything he does. Bear and Crystal have off the charts chemistry long before they explore a relationship.
I loved this story so much, it made me want to be part of the Whiskey family. Melissa Foster has a way of making you feel like a part of the story.
Truly, Madly, Whiskey
The Whiskeys: Dark Knights at Peaceful Harbor #2
By: Melissa Foster
Narrated by: Paul Woodson
This series is becoming one of my favorites. I think because of the low angst, the high love and the men to die for all make this series so easy to love and fall into. This part of the series gives us Bear’s story. We met Bear and Crystal in the first book. Bear is close to Truman, helping him with his new siblings, and Crystal works with Gemma. There is definitely some chemistry, but now we get to the grit of this relationship. Bear is nothing short of a saint. He is patient and loving, and can feel that there is something that holds Crystal back from letting her heart fall. Melissa Foster has crafted a story of reinvention, putting the past to bed and finding your new normal, learning to trust and love and enjoy the people who are there for you and care for you. I loved this story, fell for Bear and really enjoyed their slow burn.
Paul Woodson continues his wonderful narration of the story. I am loving him performances, full of that alpha feel, shining light into the story. He gives each character such distinct voices, easy to determine who is talking and gives us that feeling of comforting familiarity. I enjoyed his portrayal of Bear and Crystal!

*4 Stars*
I love this series and these characters. I was definitely keen to read Bear and Crystals story, because of the glimpses of their interactions in Tru Blue.
I enjoyed this book, even if it wasn’t my fave of this series. The Whiskey world is a really well created world by Melissa Foster, and it draws you right in, and makes you feel these characters.
Crystal has some demons from her past that we learn about, and once she opens up to Bear, things are much easier for her. Bear is the ultimate teddy bear. What a softie. I would love me one of my own. He’s honest and respectable and an all around great guy. As with all the Whiskey heroes in this series.
I did feel that for part of the book not much was really happening, but I guess that can also go hand in hand with the issues they’re both dealing with and not being able to rush them.
I loved our glimpses of the other family members and friends, and I can’t wait to read more of this series, particularly now that I am nearly caught up.
I’m a Melissa Foster fan and enjoy the Whiskey brothers stories.
I love all her books! One of my very favorite authors.
Loved Bear and Crystal! Sure cute story that grabs your heart and makes you fall in love with the Whiskey family. I’ll definitely read other books in this series.
A different twist to “biker” characters
I love this series from Melissa Foster…..it made me buy all the “next” stories. Now I can relate to the whole “family”.
I love the Whiskeys…all of them and all of their women. You won’t be disappointed in this book I can assure you. Bear & Crystal’s story is a stand alone but you will meet all of the family and get to love them all.
