Winner of the 2018 Christy Award Book of the YearAfter a devastating heartbreak three years ago, genealogist and historical village owner Nora Bradford has decided that burying her nose in her work and her books is far safer than romance in the here and now.Unlike Nora, former Navy SEAL and Medal of Honor recipient John Lawson is a modern-day man, usually 100 percent focused on the present. But … focused on the present. But when he’s diagnosed with an inherited condition, he’s forced to dig into the secrets of his past and his adoption as an infant, enlisting Nora to help him uncover the identity of his birth mother.
The more time they spend together, the more this pair of opposites suspects they just might be a perfect match. However, John’s already dating someone and Nora’s not sure she’s ready to trade her crushes on fictional heroes for the risks of a real relationship. Finding the answers they’re seeking will test the limits of their identity, their faith, and their devotion to one another.

An absolutely wonderful and unexpected romance with depth and breadth (and more than a little heartbreak). I loved the sprinkling of other POVs beyond the hero and heroine, especially because of the unusual way they were often delivered.
I love the world Becky Wade creates in all her contemporary romances….whether it is big oil Texas or small town Washington state. Her stories have complex family dynamics and realistic details that make it easy to sink into the world. Oh, and some truly dishy heroes. True to You is my favorite of her novels so far.
There are so many things to love about True to You by Becky Wade, including the cover. For me, the list starts with an endearing, nerdy heroine who’s been hurt before and is afraid to love again. Nora Bradford is passionate about history to the extreme, but I couldn’t help but love her for all her awkwardness. I also found all of her family history research tactics fascinating. John Lawson is independent, brave, and a hero. He has painful secrets and real issues and I appreciate that love doesn’t make them just disappear. This book is definitely Christian fiction and I like how both characters grow by relying on faith. This book is a great start to the series and I’m excited to read more about the Bradford family.
BRILLIANT! I adore this novel. Nora and John’s romance is a slow burn that reaches inferno proportions. Each are haunted by tragedy and trust issues. We’ve all been extended the invitation to trust the Lord with our shattered lives. Nora and John’s journey challenged me to release more of my life to the Lord. He is truly the only One who can bring beauty from ashes.
Recommend to readers who enjoy inspirational, contemporary romance.
I won a copy. All views expressed are my honest opinion.
I enjoyed this one, but the story felt long and drawn out. Usually I want more details from romances, but for this one, I wanted less. There was so much drama and multiple plot lines. I liked the romance though, they were cute together.
Becky Wade is one of my new favorite authors! I love that her books feel “real” and relatable. Her characters are relatable and the process of change they go through is encouraging and inspiring. Becky Wade makes me wish I was one of her characters!
This story was absolutely wonderful! I absolutely fell in love with the characters and the story. Normally I just want the story, from at most two perspectives, but the way Becky Wade was able to incorporate texts and such to add to the story was perfect! I’m really glad I read the prequel first as it added to the story, but as great as the prequel was, this story by far surpassed it. I think this is my favorite by her. Plus, I really connected to Nora’s bookish and research focused nature. How her and John get together was perfect as well. I like how the weren’t identical to each other and yet still made perfect sense.
This book was incredible. It just kept getting better and better the more I read. I thought by about halfway through that I’d figured it all out and then, wham. Plot twist! Such a brilliantly written, deep, challenging, inspiring, beautiful story of love, faith and grace. Loved the two main characters, loved their journey and cannot wait to read the other two sisters’ stories next. Highly recommend to anyone who enjoys a really well written story.
This is my favorite of the Bradford Sister series. Nora is a woman after my own heart. Becky gives these characters such rich personalties that you instantly fall in love with them. You experience all the “feels” right along with them. A highly recommended series.
I loved the characters in this book – they were so real and vulnerable.
This is a book that I’ll be re-reading. Loved the characters! The story line was amazing.
ANOTHER wonderful story by Becky Wade. Wow! I do not possess the ability to do this book justice through my own words, all I can say is that it’s a must read, fantastic characters and so much depth! Absolutely loved it!
This was such a slow start I almost put it down. It was like two separate books forced together. The second part of the book was enjoyable. Character real and very driven to better the community.
couldn’t wait to see how it ended
Loved book
This is a wonderful opposites-attract story in which the characters are so well developed. I’ve met both of these people in real life and I loved the way the author brought them together–so romantic! Highly recommend this book!
Interesting characters made this more than a romantic novel. I also found myself screen shotting several pages that I keep going back to to remind myself of truths I found in the book. I really ended up liking this book.
This story was fun and thought provoking. The characters were good. I especially liked the librarian’s role as owner and promoter of historical buildings and the town history. The process of finding a lost relative was also interesting.
Delightful!
Our entire book club enjoyed this story about a lovable quirky owner of a historic village who helps a retired navy seal with a medical condition search for his birth mom. Contains twists that keep you turning pages.
