TRUEMost people would love Alec’s life… great job… hot boyfriend… and a beautiful brownstone in DC’s gay mecca, Dupont Circle. But within a single night, things change… nothing of the sort. But a strong-willed cowboy named Tyler enters his life as spontaneous as the snow of Montana’s winter.
Unpredictable as a mountain storm, Alec and Tyler soon find themselves entwined in a fierce love affair… raw, real, and unlike any other Alec has ever had.
But Tyler belongs to Montana.
Will their passion be enough to keep them together? Will Alec learn to forgive his past missteps and accept that he deserves the happiness that can only come from a man so genuine… so giving… and so TRUE?
This book contains mature content.

I love Timothy Warren’s new book TRUE. It was funny and sweet. I love the conversations between Alec and Demarco. The fact that I could hear them in my head meant I was into the story. I am sooo ready for the next book.
This is the first book of the series and I enjoyed these characters. Alec is great how he handles the last straw of dealing with a cheating boyfriend. It helps that his friend Demarco adds to this story so much. Alec having writers block decides new surroundings is what he needs. He didn’t plan on Tyler. How Tyler looks out for Alec right from the beginning is one of the moments I wanted to hug Tyler. These two so belong together but getting there kept my attention. I really enjoyed this story and can’t wait to read the next
I loved this debut book by Timothy Warren and the world he created in Dupont Circle. Alec and Tyler are fantastic characters, each with their own baggage they are trying to overcome. Alec’s desire to take care of the troubled men he meets is equally heartbreaking and heartwarming. It’s not until his latest boyfriend cheats on him again that he is able to see how toxic this behavior is to his life. Tyler has been widowed for five years but still hasn’t opened up to anyone, until Alec. While not instant love, Alec and Tyler’s connection is immediate and strong. It was sweet seeing these two work to finding a balance between embracing a possible future together and not letting the past hold them back. I can’t wait to start book two!
Great book
I found this author by random in a FB group, the blurbs were interesting and I thought give it a chance. I didn’t regret it. The story caught me complete, everything included, two great main characters, romance, feelings, a lot of emotions, sex scenes, a beautiful description of the country and last but not least trouble with the ex.
The discrepancy between the two main characters makes a lot of the Story. The City guy and the lonely Cowboy. I loved this game with the two very different guys and the emotions. Also the little city with its inhabitants where the guy from the city lands makes a lot of the story.
I hope to meat the couple in the next part of the Series as side characters.
If you‘re looking for a great book to have some relaxed hours, this is the book for you.
Timothy Warren is a new to me author, so I wasn’t too sure going in how much I was going to like this book. Like nothing. I loved it! It was a little bit shaky at the start, but it didn’t take me long to get sucked in. Alec ends up going to Montana where he intends to write a book and take some time for himself. What he finds is so much more. Tyler. Widower, cowboy, and did I forget to mention hot! This had a great opposites attract, age-gap feel to it. Snow storms, sexy times in front of the fire, and wood peckers… This is a low angst, sweet read and I enjoyed every minute of it. I also loved Demarco as a side character and cannot wait to dive into his story next.
This delightful book was recommended in a FB group when someone was looking for “moving on from a cheater” trope. True is the first book in Timothy Warren’s Tales of the Circle series. Warren’s writing has a wonderful mix of laughter, character introspection, found family, and romance.
Entirely from Alec’s perspective – this is truly a tale of city boy in the country. It’s not exactly “forced proximity” as Alec has made the choice to spend some time in remote Montana but there’s definitely those elements that I enjoy from the trope. When Alec finds himself stuck in the snow and other elements he doesn’t know how to navigate – the somewhat mysterious Tyler rescues him.
While I do wish Warren would have shared more about Tyler in order to further connect with him – perhaps it is his somewhat simple nature that makes him so appealing as a character. I adored Alec and Tyler as individuals and as a couple. I appreciated the way Tyler’s deceased spouse was respected by Alec. Despite some heavy subject matter – this felt fairly low angst and misunderstandings were addressed maturely and quickly. A lovely comfort read.
One of the other things that I love about this story is Alec’s friendship with Demarco. It is a thing of beauty and mutual respect – with no romantic undertones at all. I absolutely adore them and am looking forward to Demarco getting his HEA in Secret. With a little bit of hope that we’ll see more of Alec & Tyler as well.
This was a sweet romance between Alec and Tyler. This is told from Alec’s point of view only which works extremely well in the first half of the book, but when Tyler is introduced, you are sometimes wondering where he is. Honestly it’s logical and accurate as in most relationships you only see your side of the story, but in books even written from one point of view, it’s sometimes nice to glimpse on the other side. I still really enjoyed this book and am excited to see how Demarco’s story plays out.
The struggles of not looking for love, yet it finds you anyway.
Alec’s life took a sudden turn after having it all. The envy of some. Deciding to leave town for a while and definitely not looking for love, he heads to Montana for some time alone.
Little did he know, those plans would be thwarted soon.
Tyler is a cowboy. A determined one at that. One look at Alec and he just had to have him. The fires burning between these two is enough to make them question the what ifs.
Everyone deserves happiness and taking that leap of faith is not as easy as it seems.
A wonderful slow burn, high stakes chance at a happily ever after.
**I received this ARC via Gay Romance Reviews for my honest feedback.**
I need to find myself a Tyler!
To outside world Alex was happy and content. He had a hot bartender boyfriend, steady column in the paper and best friend who would never miss their weekly dates of Tuesday Tunes at B.J’s. All along Alex knew he needed something different, he was stuck in a rut that needed to change. Originally it was just a thought for some alone time in a cabin to complete his book, but then one encounter with his now ex-boyfriend in an employee bathroom gave him the push out of his comfort zone to go and find himself again.
Tyler is a strong silent man that was given a tough hand when his husband died unexpectedly 5 years prior. Never did he guess that renting out the cabin he built for him, would lead him to his new happily ever after.
After rescuing Alex on horseback on the night of his arrival, their relationship begins to blossom in snow filled encounters and at the encouragement of pushy, but well meaning, townsfolk.
Will Alex be able to move on with Tyler when his past comes Skyping or will he lose his new beginning in a town he was only visiting? Read for yourself to find out!
This was sooo good!! Alec needs a change; he rents a cabin in Montana. When he goes off the road in a snowstorm a hunky cowboy riding a horse helps him. Tyler rents his cabin to a city slicker from DC’s gay district, Dupont Circle. Alec is a writer looking to write a “nonfiction” They have an instant connection, awesome chemistry! This story has a ton of steam and snark!! Loved it. I am voluntarily leaving a review from an advanced copy that I was gifted. Thank you so much for letting me read your art. My reviews are solely based on my thoughts and opinions.
Really good after a slow start
4.5stars
The first Washington D.C. gay bar scene sets the background for this series and it came in useful in understanding the close ties between lead writer Alec and his BFF DeMarco but I found it a bit slow until Alec’s bartender boyfriend Mac entered the scene and then the story really took off. From then on I was hooked.
Loved the plot, the remote, winter Montana setting for Alec’s writing hideaway, and the friendly characters in Melody, Montana. Tyler, the rescuing AAA man with a heart of gold and a sad background, was a great contrast to Mac and a real hunk of burnin’ love!
I really liked the author’s writing style and the romance, though I usually avoid novels set in D.C. I’ll be looking for more of his work.
I read a complimentary advance copy of the book; this is my voluntary and honest review.
Signs
Alec and Demarco have such a wonderful friendship, but the people in Melody…I adore their eclectic and unforgettable personalities. Tyler and Alec soothed my heart. Watching them fall in love was peaceful, comforting and warm. I loved how Tyler took care of Alec and although it may have taken a shock, how Alec realized what he truly wants. I’m looking forward to watching Demarco’s turn.
True by Timothy Warren is the first book in the Takes of the Circle series. Its has a city boy goes to a small town in serch of a new perspective type theme, filledb with a manipulative cheater of an ex, a fabulous best friend, a small town of wonderful folk and a hunky rancher who sparks inspiration and passion. I loved the story and all the characters and their interactions. Sweet, steamy, and fun.
I was able to read an advanced copy of this title and am reviewing voluntarily and honestly my own thoughts, opinion and reactions based on that copy.
I really enjoyed this book. The banter was witty and the characters were likeable. The book dealt with poignant moments and internal struggle in relatable and often hilarious ways. I found myself not only laughing but curious about the stories of the other characters. I also found surprising depth to the characters and their struggles happening throughout the book. I’m looking forward to book 2!
I really enjoyed this book. It’s the first time I’ve read anything by this author. I found the writing style to be refreshing. He does a great job of capturing banter of two gay best friends Alex and Demarco, full of shade and references to pop culture. It was very authentic and something that is missing with a lot of mm romance novels.
I also liked that there was a contrasting theme throughout the book. First, there is the DC vs. Montana physical location contrast. Then the old love vs. new love where Alec tries to figure out what he really wants. Finally, on a personal level, what kind of writer does Alec want to be? He discovers his previous writing was not as deep or personal as what he finds himself writing when he is removed from his old live. These contrasts all help him find what is True.
If anything, I wanted to story to be longer and more developed. It’s a quick read and very fast-paced in some scenes with the dialogue. Definitely some opportunities here to make a great story even better! I will definitely read more from this author.
City meets Country. Alec seems to have it all. A good job, a townhome in DC and a hot as hell boyfriend . Little does Alec know Mac is once again cheating and this time Alec has had it. Mac has to go! Alec had been contemplating going away for a few weeks to recharge and maybe write a book and now seems like the perfect time. Off to Montana in a mountain cabin he goes. City boy is not prepared for snowstorms, building fires and snowmobiling but thanks to Tylerhe adjusts pretty quickly. Tyler has been widowed for 5 years. The sadness still consumes him but Alec is just what he needs. As soon as they start spending time together feelings grow and soon they are both head over heels. Mac rears his ugly head and Alec races back to DC . Once there he realized his mistake and immediately flies back out to Montana. Tyler is waiting with open arms. This is a beautiful story of learning and moving forward. Learning to leave the past behind and moving forward after bad experiences.
True by Timothy Warren is book number one in the Tales of the Circle series. This is Alec Collier and Tyler Quinn’s story.
I really enjoyed Alec and Tyler’s story. I loved Alec’s humor especially in situations where he was feeling uncomfortable or out of his comfort zone. Tyler is more of a quiet person and loved the scenes with him performing on talent night. He is a really an emotional and caring man who has lived through some difficult times. But Alec is just what Tyler needs in his life and Tyler is perfect for Alec. The supporting characters added to the story too. At times Alec and his best friend Demarco had me laughing so I hope we get Demarco’s story in this series.
I voluntarily reviewed an Advance Reader Copy of this book.
Alec is a writer/journalist in Washington DC, who has once again caught his live-in boyfriend Mac cheating on him, for the third time. This time, he has decided not to take him back. To clear his mind, he takes a five-week sabbatical to a Montana small town to write a book. There he meets ranch owner Tyler, who helps him when he arrives in the middle of a snow storm. Tyler continues to help Alec get settled in the small cabin that he rented, and the two of them enter into a relationship and eventually fall in love. Tyler would like Alec to stay in Montana, and Alec feels he must return to Washington, DC. To make things more complicated, Alec’s ex-boyfriend calls Alec with a big problem, which worries Alec. Will Alec stay in small-town Montana with Tyler, or should he go back to the bustle of the big city in Washington, DC?
Alec was fun and had sassy attitude I adored him. I hated his relationship with Mac, Mac was so disrespectful and self destructive and what he did to Alec. Ugh so moving on…
Tyler is a widower living in Montana. When he meets Alec his sadness kind of takes a back seat. These two opposite guys are just wonderful together. I love how it all came together at the end.
Such a wonderful story I definitely recommend this book!
What a beautiful love story & great start to a new series. The two main characters, Tyler (cowboy) & Alec (city boy), are cute together. Alec is in a rut and needing a change of scenery to write a book. After getting stuck in a ditch during a snowstorm in Montana, Alec is greeted by Tyler… on horseback. Yup, that’s your AAA in the snowy mountains of Montana. There was an insta-lust between Tyler and Alec when they first meet, but not necessarily insta-love. The book has a nice slow burn to ‘I love you.’ I have to laugh at myself for a minute because I missed a ton of cinema/music/entertainment references. No biggie, I either looked it up or just let it slide. I’m sure it would have added another level to the reading experience, but not picking up on those references didn’t detract from enjoying this book. I think it’s worth pointing out, I am bad about skipping ahead or reading too fast, but the imagery in this book had be savoring every last word. Even to a point I stopped reading just to imagine the world the author is depicting. Big kudos, because as someone who typically reads multiple books at a time & bounces all over the place, I read this book straight through. With no epilogue we don’t get a glimpse of the couple in the future, so I’d say this is a solid HFN.
This is a new author for me, but I can’t wait to read more. If you’re looking for a low-angst, super sweet, romance novel, this is the book for you.
