Every chance I had, I was listening to this engaging story. It was so easy to listen to Austenne Grey’s voice. She did excellent with the distinct character voices. She also did a fantastic job matching her pace to the action of the wonderful tale. I thoroughly enjoyed the quotes that introduced each chapter leading into this romantic read. The wonderful characters had trials to face leading to unexpected choices and lessons. As the suspense increased, I realized that although I wanted to know the resolution, I didn’t want this story to end. Fortunately, I realized this book is just the first of a series. I was given a copy of this audiobook. All opinions are my own.
True Nobilty, by Lori Bates Wright, is the first book in The Saberton Legacy series. Abounding with surprises and unexpected twists, this novel is thoroughly entertaining. Well-written and thoughtfully composed from start to finish, this book is a pleasure to read. With a satisfying blend of romance, history, and mystery, True Nobility is very compelling and enjoyable.
True Nobility features an intriguingly rich plot that is extremely clever and character-driven. This novel creatively explores the themes of deception, love, redemption, honor, and courage through a varied cast of captivating characters who are vividly developed and truly likable. Their motivations, fears, desires, and choices carry significant purpose and meaning. Also integral to the story is the historic Savannah, Georgia setting. Often just as noteworthy and memorable as the characters themselves, Savannah and its fully detailed surroundings provide a striking backdrop for the majority of the novel’s most powerful scenes.
True Nobility is a story of faith, forgiveness, trust, and truth. Strengthened by Ms. Wright’s richly descriptive style and attention to historical detail, this book is truly satisfying and engaging. The romance and mystery within this novel are certainly elements worthy of being savored. True Nobility is thoughtful, emotionally stirring, and ultimately uplifting. I recommend it wholeheartedly.
*I was given a copy of this book by the author. A review was not required. The review I have written contains opinions that are entirely my own.
This is such a delightful book! The characters are very enjoyable! The story had just enough twists and turns to keep me hooked all the way through! I’m so hoping that there will be more book to go with this one! I definitely recommend this!
I received a complimentary copy from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are mine alone.
Loved it- and the characters have lived in my memory for a couple of years now! LORI creates funny, and deliciously flawed characters— just like you and me!

“When she married, she’d like to think it would be because her heart was bound by love alone.”
Obviously Victoria Haverwood’s father didn’t agree. How humiliating! Quite infuriating! The Earl had just proceeded to virtually auction her off, proposing marriage on her behalf, to an American sea captain of all people; never mind that Captain Saberton was heir to the dukedom of a family friend (which he was not at all inclined to accept), or that his commanding presence only contributed to his tall, dark, and handsome appearance. For reasons yet unknown to Victoria, her father was desperate to set sail from England as quickly as possible and was convinced that Nicholas Saberton was the one and only person he could trust to get them across the Atlantic safely.
She was lovely, elegant, refined, . . . . and probably spoiled, but the lady knew how to speak her mind, Nicholas Saberton would grant her that. It was a bit amusing to suffer through her father’s misguided offer of marriage to his daughter, for Nicholas considered himself more than capable of keeping the “Princess” Haverwood safe from the threat of harm that Lord Haverwood was convinced might follow them, . . . . without marrying her. It didn’t take long before the earl’s worries proved warranted, for Victoria was nearly attacked before Nicholas’ ship ever left port. And from then on, it seemed that life and eventually love would drive Victoria Haverwood into the strong and protective arms of Nicholas Saberton over and over again, begging the question; was that where either of them wanted her to be? And when trouble comes calling, will Nicholas stand to lose everything that he has gained?
“I must say . . . What I mean is, I’ve quite decided to love you.”
Enjoy every word of flirtatious dialogue while “refined-banters-rogue” (but, only on the outside), fondly observing two characters transform into better versions of themselves, because they have loved each other. Truly, “He who finds a wife find a good thing.” Provers 18:22 . . . . . even is she is a hand full.
I have both the kindle version and the audio version of True Nobility, the first book I’ve encountered by Author Lori Bates Wright. I listened to the audio version and absolutely loved it! It was fantastic! The narrator was so good, and the story so compelling. I loved all the twists and turns, danger, and romance. If the second and third audio books were ready, I’d be snapping them right up. Now I have to decide if I am patient enough to wait, or if I want to get the kindle versions instantly. Truly this was a very enjoyable story with excellent narration! I can’t wait for more!
