True Colors is New York Times bestselling author Kristin Hannah’s most provocative, compelling, and heart-wrenching story yet. With the luminous writing and unforgettable characters that are her trademarks, she tells the story of three sisters whose once-solid world is broken apart by jealousy, betrayal, and the kind of passion that rarely comes along. The Grey sisters have always been close. … have always been close. After their mother’s death, the girls banded together, becoming best friends. Their stern, disapproving father cares less about his children than about his reputation. To Henry Grey, appearances are everything, and years later, he still demands that his daughters reflect his standing in the community.
Winona, the oldest, needs her father’s approval most of all. An overweight bookworm who never felt at home on the sprawling horse ranch that has been in her family for three generations, she knows that she doesn’t have the qualities her father values. But as the best lawyer in town, she’s determined to someday find a way to prove her worth to him.
Aurora, the middle sister, is the family peacemaker. She brokers every dispute and tries to keep them all happy, even as she hides her own secret pain.
Vivi Ann is the undisputed star of the family. A stunningly beautiful dreamer with a heart as big as the ocean in front of her house, she is adored by all who know her. Everything comes easily for Vivi Ann, until a stranger comes to town. . . .
In a matter of moments, everything will change. The Grey sisters will be pitted against one another in ways that none could have imagined. Loyalties will be tested and secrets revealed, and a terrible, shocking crime will shatter both their family and their beloved town.
With breathtaking pace and penetrating emotional insight, True Colors is an unforgettable novel about sisters, rivalry, forgiveness, redemption—and ultimately, what it means to be a family.

I had this book for years, probably received it at writers conference, and just recently found it on my TBR bookcase when I was searching for a women’s fiction read. It started off like a romance, but then a tragic event happens and family comes into play. The characters are real. I wanted to slap some and hold others. Simply put, it was a great story. Exactly what I was looking for at the moment.
A very good read although not my favorite from this author. Interesting characters. Thought it might end sadly but ultimately the truth and family loyalty prevailed.
Family, faith, strength and never giving up. Vivi wants love and passion, when she finds it low and behold it is torn from her and replaced with despair, incredible sadness and loss of self. Her sisters stand by her even through it all and the one she counts on finally comes to stand tall and provide her the love and passion that was denied her for so many years.
Made me wish my sister and I had been as close. No matter what happens there always there for each other.
I couldn’t put it down.
Kristin Hannah really knows how to tug the heartstrings!
Love anything by Kristin Hannah, therefore Tru Colors was another exceptional story!!
The perfect “falling in love with the bad boy” romance and how one decision can twist a life forever.
I enjoy Kristin Hannah’s writing. I always come away feeling attached to the characters. This one was a bit of a heart-breaker. I found myself cheering for Noah, despising Win (at some points anyway), and hurting for Vivi Ann. A good family drama!
The Grey family has had strong roots over generations. What would it take to test the honor of a family? Love can make or break you and in the Grey world one omission is about to turn their world upside down.
When Vivi Ann goes against the grain and fights for what she feels, there is no greater love. Time has a way of testing love in so many ways and time almost kills Vivi Ann. It takes the Grey sister’s coming together along with their strong willed Raintree, to get their lives back to some normalcy.
Justice has let Dallas Raintree down. Because of his looks, he was already judged harshly. Hanging on by a thread the Grey’s will be in the battle of their lives, amongst their own clan. The chips will lay where they fall.
I felt myself wrecked through this whole read. Vivi Ann and Dallas’s love is a love to strive for. The passion in their every move is like a firestorm. The things that the town believed and the way Mr. Grey was, burned holes in my heart, but not more then the misunderstanding and hurt that was imposed on them. Great writing, great world building, great characters and a bittersweet ending.
Another great read from Kristin Hannah.
Great story about family, loss, and love!
I have read all of Kristen’s books and this is one of my favorites! A must read!!
