Note from the Author:
This series is written in US English.
There is a strong romance theme in True Calling, and if you only enjoy hard science fiction then this is not the book for you. This book contains a cliff hanger and it is not a stand-alone read. Thank you for taking the time to check out my work.

I absolutely love Siobahan! Every one of her Books I have read I could not put down. Aside from this series. I loved it yet it was so hard for me to get through. The story line is great and the character are fantastic ! I’m not really sure why I had such a hard time to get thru it. I love the love triangles. I felt for both Cal and Zane. And am so happy for the out come ! This is a must read, just as much as all of Siobhan’s other books .
This is the first space book that I have read, and I know I will be reading more books like this in the future!!
I don’t want to really compare this book to others, but I saw bits of other books that I have read in this one. I saw the Selection with her having to pick a husband and The Hunger Games with the rebels and government trying to control everything after Earth has a not so good turn of events.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and had a hard time finding time to give it the attention it deserved. My work doesn’t allow us electronics so I wasn’t able to read it while the kids were asleep, though I desperately wanted to. Then coming home I was dealing with being sick as well as having to do work paperwork. I was sad, but still tried to get at least a chapter in a night. Once I finally go the time, I sat down and refused to do anything until I was able to finish the book up. Now my problem is, I WANT THE NEXT BOOK!!
This book has so much going on. You have Ariana who is having trouble with the idea of being forced to get married and have children. She is trying to figure out who Zane is in her dreams. She also is trying to figure out why Cal won’t leave her alone. As all of this gets sorted out, you get more and more sucked into the pages.
I usually pick one guy that I want the character to end up with when there is a love triangle, but I seriously can’t pick one. I would be happy with her being with either one. Just when you think she is final on one of them something happens at the very end of the book that leaves you with a cliffhanger of how things will turn up. I think Zane is a sweetheart and I like him very much. He is modest and tries not to hurt anyone feelings. Even Isla who is chasing him, he doesn’t let up on letting her know how he feels about Ariana. He is super smart and is very vital to the rebel cause. Then there is Cal, who has a hot temper, but there is no denying that he cares about Ariana. He seems so sweet even though his life isn’t the greatest at home, he turns out to be a great guy even if his dad is awful.
The author is wonderful in describing everything enough that you are able to picture all of it even though it is set in space or in a more technological world that earth has become. There are all sorts of high tech gadgets for us to learn about.
This book is one that I would recommend to anyone that asks for me a new book to read. It is mixed with a bit of dysopia, to swoon worthy romances, and family ties. It also gives you the strength to want to do things you are know difficult for the benefit of the world around us. Things aren’t always easy, but it is up to us how we want to handle them and keep going with our lives. Now I get to wait as patiently as I can until the next one comes out!!
Wow wow wow.
All around review:
I was definitely enjoying this book and I couldn’t put it down. The pace of this book seemed to be weird. It seemed like all the important parts were explained really fast and then the kissing scenes were really slow. Did not seem like the priorities were right.
My buddy reading partner said:
“Is the planet they’re on the moon transformed? Is it a new planet they built? Is it an recently discovered planet that was invisible to use before and is closer to us than the moon?
What do the people do for work? It seems everyone is either a doctor or in the military. There are only these two types of schools to go to.
So much time is spent describing outfits and actions of people in detail, that all of this could easily have been described, plus more. Way too many things were left a mystery and it doesn’t seem to be on purpose.”
And I agree 100%
Even though I seem to be complaining a lot, I am trying to be a critic to help. Since i received this book on Netgalley.
Spoilers/thoughts:
Part one:
Guess: they totally made her pregnant and they are gonna say they were intimate and then punish them
Cal: I think he really loves her but I just find it hard to believe he’s a faker. Idk. I’m so gullible and I never see things coming. If he was faking the whole time I’ll flip.
Zane: when they said brother I was confused. I was honestly ready for a love triangle.
Aris dad There’s no way he’s dead. He must be at earth. Why was the box beeping? How did anyone not hear that? Especially since it’s a loud siren. Maybe the resistance is in that secret underground thing? And he’s been working in there? And put it there himself?
Suspicions again I think they somehow made her pregnant. I mean she’s bigger, bloated and throwing up?
Part two:
I loved hearing Zanes perspective. It really cleared some stuff up. I wish it was more of a switching chapter type thing instead of one part and then the next.
ending
UMMMMMM WTF what happened to cal! My buddy reading partner said he might have stayed behind because he really isn’t a good person. I honestly don’t know what to think or believe. And her mom and sister didn’t make it?! What the heck! I really liked them.

All around a good book and I couldn’t put it down. 🙂
I really enjoyed this! I almost gave it 4 stars because I hate love triangles and I really dislike Isla, but I liked the premise and other characters more than I hate those things, so 5 stars is the way I went. This book is very thorough, very descriptive; sometimes a bit too much, but I think it really helped build the world up. I love futuristic type books and also dystopian type books, and this book is both, so I liked all that tech talk, but it did run a bit long, and I would have liked for the pacing of the story to be a bit faster. Ariana and Cal were interesting characters, and I think they were really sweet together. Ariana had some feistiness to her, as well as intelligence, and Cal was both strong, as well as vulnerable. I liked Zane as well; except for some of his actions with a certain someone, and I look forward to learning more about him in the next book. I will definitely read the next book in the series; I’m really looking forward to how things will play out; (bit of a spoiler ahead, but really it’s more of a teaser, or I could just be reading too much into an actions; we shall see!) especially what happened to Ariana when she was put to sleep at the doctor’s!
LOVE LOVE LOVE, this definitely a story that will catch the readers imagination and allow it to run away since the characters feel so real
The author was kind enough to send me an ecopy of this book to read and review. I’m a very big fan of dystopian works, and this book definitely lived up to my expectations for the genre. In addition to the normal themes we find in Dystopia, the post apocalyptic world, the totalitarian government, and of course a bit of romance, we also have some Sci-Fi qualities as well. We’ve got different planets involved and high class technology. I found my self enjoying having the two genres mix in this book. I really loved the main character, Ariana. She was easy to connect with and relate to. I sometimes feel disoriented when stories go between characters in different parts of the book, but I was happy to find that when we got to Zane’s section I was able to relate to him easily as well. Warning, there is a cliffhanger and you will want to read more, so be sure to pick up the 2nd book too. I’m so excited about this story that I’m off to get the 1.5 book as well!
