He will recover from his injuries, but not from the pain he caused in the past.

Who can make the villain in her book the most love able character? Jeannine Colette can! This book was full of all emotions. It comes down to forgiveness and trust. This was my 1st book I read from Jeannine. It will not be my last!
Another great story of love and second chances from Jeannine Colette! This story begins with a hurricane and turbulence of the storm symbolizes the turbulence in the life of Trish and Jackson. Both are fighting their own unresolved battles. Just as a storm passes and life goes on Trish finds herself confronted with her true love. Only she hates him.
Trish and Jackson are two characters who are both struggling and have internal wars with each other. But can they live happily without each other? Would one chase the other across the ocean to find true love? Pick up this book to find out.
This was beautifully written. I enjoyed it very much. I would rate this book as a 5 success!
I loved it! Everyone needs to read all of the Abandoned books, they are available as a box set (5 unique and fabulous love stories)!
What a beautiful second chance romance… Jax and Trish was a high school sweeatheart… falling in love with hope and dream… One mistake changes everything…
For years, Trish was living with hate, anger and confussion..it took one call… She has to face her demon and past…
This book show two people who are trying to find their love again… when you met your soulmate… no matter what.. its a special bond…beautiful setting.. I love how the story being written… both parties showed their feeling sincerely… despite the hurt and sorrow..
What an emotional rollercoaster! I was angry, heartbroken, frustrated, then I would be laughing then right back to being heartbroken. True Abandon was the first book in the Abandon series that I read and now I’m going to go back and read the others. The story of Trish and Jackson (Jax) is about betrayal and forgiveness. Jackson does something to Trish that seems absolutely unforgivable. Yet the way this book is written, the story of how that forgiveness may be achieved is believable and inspiring. This was a great book that kept me intrigued the whole time.
True Abandon is a standalone, second chance romance. Jackson and Trish’s young, forbidden love was destroyed. Jackson betrayed every promise he ever made to Trish. Trish has been trying to move on from the boy who destroyed her. One horrible mistake, a decade of running and 2 people who have never been able to move on makes this book unforgettable. It will have you looking at your past and wondering how the choices and mistakes you made have impacted your life. This is a more than 5 star read that I could not put down. Jeannine Collete is one of my favorite authors and I will read anything and everything she writes. She creates stories that will touch your heart and soul.
True Abandon is an epic second chance!
As always, Jeannine delivers an off the charts fantastic, original, funny, sexy, soulful, impeccably written story that I couldn’t put down. Perfectly integrated time hops that provide back story. I adore her attention to detail. Amazing build up as their story unfolds. I especially loved all the Hawaiian dialogue and supporting characters. My mom’s side of the family was all born and raised in Hawaii so I grew up listening to pidgin and danced hula when I was little. This felt so familiar.
Triciana & Jackson are such captivating characters. Both left ruined and broken in the wake of a scandal when they were young. Now almost a decade later, can they forgive? Move on?
After relocating multiple times to start over, Trish is living in Manhattan and has a career and caring boyfriend. She’s riddled with anxiety and overwhelming need to protect herself from attachment, pain and rejection. Still struggling to overcome the fear, hurt and betrayal.
Jax is a musician who appears to have had it all. Comes from a wealthy political family. Opportunity to attend ivy league college. Reputation untarnished by the scandal or so it seems. Only he has been stuck in this self destructive, tortured state from guilt, regret and heartbreak. I’m not going to lie, I didn’t think there was any coming back for Jax. I didn’t think he could possible redeem himself.
The emotional journey of these soulmates proves that things aren’t always as they seem. Fighting for what you love until you win them back. Never giving up. Forgiveness relieves the soul. Healing and letting go of regrets. And a huuuuge amount of redemption goes a long way. This story touched me! Even had me reflecting on my own life choices.
Thank goodness for Ella’s foresight in bringing these two together. Their reunion was the catalyst for much needed healing and redemption.
The so called revenge plot twist shocked the hell out of me. I should have seen that coming. Loved it because of the outstanding ending it led to. Brilliant!
I truly loved everything about this book.
What a GREAT book!!!! I’m not usually a fan of 2nd chance romance, but this was a wonderful book. It sucked me in right from page 1 and I didn’t want to put it down. Trish and Jax’s story isn’t an easy read and is heartbreaking, but then it’s wonderful and heartwarming and parts had me laughing out loud and smiling as I read. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
This is a story of a woman who was very intimately betrayed as a teen by her boyfriend and essentially how that one indiscretion has gone on to affect all aspects of her life…but has it only affected her life?
When Trish is reunited with her ex-boyfriend, Jax, after Jax is in a serious accident, she comes face to face with the man she loved as a boy; the boy who betrayed and abandoned her in the worst possible way. Still hiding and running from her past Trish embarks on a new adventure/start in Kauai as a personal concierge at a hotel. When one of the VIP suites is rented by Jax, Trish is forced to take a look at her past and at the man standing before her and try to heal once and for all. Wait!
The story doesn’t end there as the tables are turned and the victim becomes the villain, you’re left wondering if the past can ever just stay there and be forgotten.
I had a hard time relating to Trish as a heroine. I felt like she spent a lot of time not examining her feelings and not being honest with herself. She had become a runner, running away from life period. I understand she was damaged in a lot of ways which lead to her personality being what it was and her difficulty with trust. I liked Jax quite a bit. He’s a songwriter so he really had a nice way with words, BUT, I felt like he and Trish really had a hard time communicating for most of the book. She was avoiding what her heart felt and he wasn’t being completely transparent with his intentions regarding her. What I loved most about this book was how much of Kauai and the culture the author included. I thought it really added something special with the meaning behind the hula dances, the stories told, and the addition of Lani’s grandmother, a wise old soul. The places described and activities involved are real, I’ve been there, and for me that made the read very special, a walk down memory lane at times.
“You can know someone for years or just a few days, but it only takes a moment for your souls to connect.”
Second chance, lovers to sort of enemies to lovers 🙂 I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
TRUE ABANDON is a Second-Chance Romance and is part of Jeannine Colette’s Abandon Series. All of these wonderful stories can be read as Standalone. But you will want to read them all.
Triciana (Trish) Hogan is twenty-five years old, and still dealing with her past as a young teenager. Her first boyfriend’s betrayal has left scars so deep, she still feels broken, and her life was ruined. She can’t deal with her future, because she hasn’t had closure on her past. All that is her past, comes crashing into her future with a phone call. A decade later and she is living in Manhattan with a roommate, a steady boyfriend and a career. The phone call is from her ex-boyfriend’s sister Ella Davis, who once use to be her best-friend. A hurricane is blowing through New York. Jackson Davis has had an accident and is in the hospital dying and alone. His sister pleads that with the storm there is no one else to sit by his side. Against all better judgment, bracing to face the storm, Trish rushes to his bedside. Jax was dying and his family wanted her to go to him.
Jackson (Jax) Davis was once the heir-apparent of a senator, but went against his father’s wishes and plans, to become a tatted up musician in a small indie band called False Accusations. When she reaches his bedside, she realizes this is a 27 year old hardened man and not the boy she knew. She sees Jackson Davis for the first time in nine years. As a boy he had promised they would be forever, but broke every promise, and ended any trust that had been between them.
No matter what she did for the rest of her life, his memory would be at the forefront. When someone impacts your life with such intensity, that fire will forever simmer deep inside of you. Jackson Davis was her past and Trish desperately wanted a future. So she ran from her nightmares to follow her dreams. But a wise old woman told her that he had wandered back into her life for a reason. And she should let him atone for his sins, so she could forgive and move on. She wants to forgive, but knows she can never forget. Difficult to see how they can ever have a second chance!
True Abandon is the latest installment in the Abandon series. Trish Hogan’s life was forever changed by the boy she once loved. Now living in New York she learns from a former friend that Jackson is in the hospital alone and dying. Once she gets there she finds that’s not the case. After a move a starting again in Hawaii Jackson is determined to get to know the real Trish whether she likes it or not. I really enjoyed reading this book and I’m excited to see what’s next!
Jeannine Colette is an author that never disappoints. True Abandon is another amazing book in her Abandon series!!! Trish and Jackson’s romance is bitter sweet. Read and enjoy!!! I can’t wait for the next book!!!
Final Score – 4.5 Stars!
High school sweethearts, torn apart by a scandal. One’s life left in ruins, the other living a half life filled with regret. Can you overcome your past mistakes? Can you have a second chance after the sting of betrayal?
Those are the questions that make up Trish and Jackson’s journey in TRUE ABANDON.
I love the alternating timelines set forth in the book. We get to see the events of the past mixed with events a decade later. After having had NO contact with one another, Trish comes face to face with Jackson again during a hurricane. Trapped in a hospital together, they each must confront not only each other, the past event that caused such a fraction in their burgeoning romance.
I have to admit, I was really looking forward to their “reunion” of sorts – I wanted to see Jackson explain himself and his actions. I wanted not only sorrow, tears, and gut-wrenching emotions, but I wanted an explanation of how this happened – I think we and Trish deserved an honest answer from Jax as to WHY?
Sadly, that answer didn’t come until later and it was lackluster – which still leaves me with a bit of disappointment. The premise and writing were solid as well as the emotional angst – I truly felt what Trish went thru. Jax just left me sorta Eh? I couldn’t relate to his character at all and his reasonings fell short with me. The secondary characters are entertaining – and quite frankly the saving grace of this book.
I absolutely fell in love with this book!
From the first sentence I was hooked and finished it in one sitting.
There was no way to put it down without knowing how it would end.
Trisha and Jaxson are high school sweethearts.
Jax is a couple of years older than her and is leaving for Princeton.
One careless decision will forever change the course of their lives.
True Abadon starts off dark and had my heart pounding for Trish.
The ordeal she goes through is painful and so sad. I felt for her.
I think there’s no worst feeling than that of betrayal and abandonment by the person that is the love of your life. That’s what Trish feels for years.
When an accident leds Trish back to Jax her life again changes drastically.
Jax has been living with the guilt of his actions gnawing at his heart.
When he wakes up from his accident and finds Trish in his hospital room he thinks he’s dreaming.
She’s the last person he expects to be by his side.
The wheels in his mind are turning as she spends a few hours with him in the hospital.
Once he’s fully healed he follows her back to Hawaii to try and right the wrong he’s done.
“I’ve sinned,and I’m ready to repent.” (Jax)
From here the book starts to get lighter.
It has some funny moments and incidents that had me lol.
Ms. Colette did an outstanding job in the writing.
From the serous events and incidents to the lol antics it’s done perfectly!
I loved how the author describes Hawaii.
From the natives customs, traditions and legends to the different dances of the Hula.
The descriptions were so vivid and detailed I could visualize and see them in my minds eye.
I also loved the characters of Trish and Jax!
They were strong and determined. Yet vulnerable and insecure.
The bond and love they had as children never broke,it was bent and out of shape but never truly broken. It stayed and effected every decision they made as young adults/adults.
They owned up to their faults and acts.
The secondary characters are just as great!
What a fantastic set of friends they all were!
This book has it all!
Amazing characters, outstanding storyline and plot and emotions galore!
From sadness, fear, betrayal and abandonment to happiness, joy, redemption and a love so strong it endured the ultimate test.
There is also deceit and manipulation that may destroy the newly found trust between Trish and Jax.
I highly recommend this outstanding book!
Much like the rest of the books in this series, I am absolutely in love with True Abandon. I love the slow burn, grovel on your knees, fight for love aspect of it. Jax and Trish had to fight for their relationship. Their second chance was on the heel of betrayal, but they made it to the end. It is definitely a 5 star, one click in my opinion.
This is a 2nd chance romance and is a standalone. Trish gets her heart and reputation completely ripped out during high school by Jackson. Trish unfortunately was asked to check on Jackson almost a decade later in the hospital by his sister. When she did Trish was able to unleash some of her pent-up anger at him. Later the book moves us to Hawaii and that is where the 2nd chance continues. Jackson tries really hard to gain Trish’s trust back. I enjoyed the book, however i think a few things at the beginning during the hurricane were a little off therefore I gave it a 3 1/2 stars.
