These books are so much fun!
In this one Tammy Lynn leaves Trouble in Jupiter while she cruises off to an island to verify some possible first editions.
Her friend Annabel is more than happy to take Trouble and even buys him a bed. Although Trouble prefers anything else to lie down on. He even helps her bid on a storage unit. As a treasure hunter this is a real plus for her since he was able to slink in and check it out first.
The unit is filled with wedding stuff. Lots of it and there are even some rings.
The last time Annabel saw Ethan was the night of her friend’s wedding. The same night she broke off her engagement and Ethan did a belly shot of tequila off her. That same night he found his fiancé in the arms of another man.
Now Ethan is with the Jupiter police, and they meet up for the first time since she moved back right after she starts going through the unit. But then again later after a break in at her apartment complex.
All of the clues revolve around cancelled weddings, and Annabel finally tells Ethan about the content of her storage unit.
Lots of twists and turns, I love the interactions with Trouble, Ethan and Annabel. I certainly didn’t see solution coming.
Jen has totally embraced Trouble and his antics making this another great read.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper is the eight book in a series of romantic suspense/cozies that all feature Trouble, the black cat detective. Trouble, for those not familiar with the series, is an arrogant but astute cat who can sniff out the clues the humans miss. His main problem, though, is how to communicate what he has discovered to the seemingly dense humans. The series is the brainchild of multi-award winning and best-selling author, Carolyn Haines. Each of the books are written by different authors—and therefore reflect different styles and locales—yet all features Trouble as an active player in the story line.
In Jen Talty’s Trouble’s Wedding Caper, Annabel Wilder leaves New York City after her putative fiancé cheats on her during her best friend’s wedding. Broken hearted and humbled, Annabel returns home to Jupiter, Florida to seek a new life. She agrees to cat-sit for Trouble when his person, Tammy Lynn, takes a trip. Trouble settles in, relishing the setting and the fresh local seafood, but treacherous events soon derail his plans for a relaxing vacation.
As both a potential way to increase her financial situation, and a way to seek new adventure, Annabel bids on an abandoned storage unit. She hopes to find hidden treasures she can profit from inside the unit and with Trouble’s help, she wins her bid. That’s when the problems and the danger start. A crushed wedding band and a torn veil presage the coming threats to Annabel when she inspects the loot inside the abandoned unit.
From that set up, Talty—a talented, best-selling author of romance books—weaves a complicated tale of deceptions, betrayals, broken hearts, thefts, and suspense, with a surprising twist at the end. Talty shows a remarkably deft hand with her descriptive details, and her writing is crisp, clean and well-paced. A clever, charming addition to the series, Trouble’s Wedding Caper hits all the spots that make cozy fans love their genre.
I love Trouble’s Wedding Caper! This book is full of action, adventure, mystery and romance. The characters are great. I love Trouble! He is wonderful and smart. It is always fun to read from Trouble’s point of view. The plot of storage auctions is interesting. The mystery is intriguing and has so many twists to keep guessing until the end. I really enjoyed this book. I highly recommend it!
After finding her boyfriend of eight years with another woman, Annabel Wilder returns home to Jupiter, Florida to begin a fresh start. When she bids on a storage unit, she wins and discovers lots of wedding treasures including gowns, gifts, and jewelry. Never in a million years did she think that this would turn into a caper involving her high school crush Sheriff Ethan Ferris, a black cat that has a nose for investigations, and a rash of wedding burglaries.
This is an enchanting mystery series filled with a bit of romance, mystery, adventure, and a mysterious black cat that will capture your heart.
To love and to cherish…
Trouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty is a whimsical mystery about weddings and how the bride and groom aren’t always right for each other. However, don’t fret as Trouble is there to make sure that the couple that belongs together will make it through.
At the start of the book, Tammy Lynn and Trouble are watching the royal wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle on television, and he is upset with the sensationalized commentary about Meghan’s family and the whole drama that the American media is placing on the wedding. I have to agree with Trouble’s assessment of that situation. Anyway, this leads us into lots of wedding stuff, and it turns into quite the caper.
Annabel Wilder
Our female lead is Annabel. She is the maid of honor at her best friend, Rosie’s wedding. Although, the day is extremely happy for Rosie and Chip, the day isn’t for Annabel as she catches her boyfriend in a compromising position that ends their relationship. This act causes Annabel to return home to Jupiter, Florida.
Annabel is a realtor but must study and pass the Florida realtor’s exam before she can begin that. So, in the meantime, she decides to do some treasure hunting. Think Storage Wars without the wars and that type of drama, but with lots of found treasure.
I liked Annabel from the beginning. She is witty and open. She loves her friend Rosie and is extremely happy for her. I also thought that her moving back to her hometown was a good move. Oh, and her curiosity rivaled Troubles. Annabel just seemed to have it together even though she was getting over a broken heart and had just relocated her life.
Ethan Ferris
Our other lead is Ethan. Ethan is Rosie’s brother and the best man at her wedding. The wedding that also ended Ethan’s engagement to fiancée as he caught her in another compromising situation. However, Ethan also has moved on or is at least trying to move on from his lost engagement. He is also a Police officer in Jupiter and seems to do very well for himself.
I liked Ethan pretty much right away too. He is the classic “boy next door.” Super dreamy with a heart of gold. I think that he has always liked Annabel he just didn’t realize it. Oh, and he is a cat guy so kudos for liking and being respectful to Trouble. However, his one downfall is he is a bit overprotective, but that could have to do with his job, but I think it is more of his personality.
Trouble
In this installment, Trouble is staying with Annabel while Tammy Lynn is appraising some antique books. Our black cat detective was rather enjoying his vacation when these wedding-related incidents started happening around Annabel.
Trouble was so resourceful with finding clues to help find the culprit who was stealing any wedding related items. He also keeps Annabel safe whenever possible. I wasn’t sure who was more protective, Trouble or Ethan.
Mystery
These wedding capers kept me guessing. I figured out who was the thief; I just couldn’t figure out why until all of the clues were put together. In some ways I felt sorry for the thief, it hurts to have your heart broken, even if the other person didn’t mean to do it. We all make bad decisions at times, and so do lots of people.

Trouble is such an awesome cat. Though he might tell you that’s not dignified enough. Trouble is on vacation and helping Annabel find love and become a treasure hunter. What turns out to be an innocent storage unit soon reveals to be something else. This is a fun ride to see who the bad person is and watch Ethan and Annabel finally find love. I believe this is part of a series but you don’t have to read the other books to read this one. It’s a fun, sweet, laughing out loud book with a great cat.
*I received a free copy of this book via the Hidden Gems and am voluntarily leaving a review.*
Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy) by Jen Talty is a four star novel. When I read about the premise of this book, I was skeptical. I am not a cat lover for sure but it was interesting that this cat, Trouble, is at the heart of this novel and helps his people figure out mysteries. When Annabelle finds Trouble, she knows that he is there to help her and make her life better. She starts seeing Ethan, the sheriff after years of not knowing anything about him. As they try to take care of each other, bad stuff is happening around them and they have to decide to figure things out and revisit their past in order to deal with their past hurts so that they can move forward together.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper by Jen Talty is the eighth book in the Familiar Legacy series. This is a fun book and can be read as a standalone book. I had not read any of the books before this one but really enjoyed this and am now going back to catch up. I really enjoyed the characters especially Annabel and Ethan. I really was rooting for them. Also, who can resist a cat who can solve mysteries!
This was a fun read that I didn’t want to put down. I had a couple of laughs and liked the mystery. I recommend this for a light read that will keep you entertained.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper is the eighth book in Familiar Legacy series where each story is by a different writer. This one is by Jen Talty. It is my first encounter with this writer and as I got intrigued by the blurb, I decided to pick up a copy and I did not regret it! I loved the premises of the series – our cool black cat Sherlock Holmes reincarnation Trouble! In this story we find Trouble in Jupiter Florida and where he helps Annabel and Ethen to solve the mystery of a storage unit filled with wedding dresses, bridesmaid gowns and jewellery …
Trouble’s Wedding Caper is a fast paced story that keeps you at the edge of your seat, the twists and turns leave you dizzy and you keep your fingers crossed for a happy ending! I could just imagine Trouble ‘speaking’ with British accent! I am sure I will pick up some more of Trouble’s stories as he is bloody brilliant!
At first I was skeptical about this book because it starts off with a cat, Trouble, talking about the royal wedding… And for a wedding themed book I can’t say it’s extremely unusual, what with the cat being British and such.
Anyway, after that we meet our main character Annabel and the intrigue starts immediately. Each time the story seems to be getting into a bit of normalcy, something happens to throw a wrench into things.
Except for the fact that Trouble has his own dialogue, this book reminds me a bit of The Cat Who Series. It was a welcome distraction while I recovered from being ill and I will probably be picking up some more from the Familiar Legacy series.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper ( Familiar Legacy Book 8) By Jen Talty. This is a super fun book. Its about Annabel Wilde who had returned to her hometown of Jupiter, Florida after a bad breakup. She is a treasure hunter who buys old storage units. The unit Annabel has bought apparently has something in it someone else wants because she is soon in the middle of a huge investigation where she meets Sheriff Ethan Ferris. There is an instant connection but they are both not in the market for a relationship. On top of all that there is Trouble the cat who can solve crimes better than people. Will Trouble solve the crime before Ethan & Annabel, will they finally break down and see if a relationship will work. This book just makes you happy and its a quick read because its so good.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper- Jen Talty
4-stars
Trouble’s Wedding Caper was a phenomenal read from start to finish! This was my first book by Jen Talty, but it certainly won’t be my last. This romance read is charming, funny, detailed and very captivating! My absolute favorite part would be the different character POV’s including Trouble the cats. I’ve never read a book from the perspective of an animal and I actually loved it, Trouble’s antics had me laughing out loud, it was truly an entertaining twist!
I can’t wait to read more from this author and would definitely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next read!
I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It is really well written. The characters are relateable and you find yourself drawn into their lives. I especially enjoyed the narrative from Trouble’s view too, it adds a special unique touch to the story.
Once i started i couldnt put it down. It has everything i love. Mystery, Romance and a Happy Ending.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy Book 8) by Jen Talty is another unique and wonderful story that is a second chance romance/mystery. I enjoy Jen’s books, they are always fun and exciting and hook me from the start and keep me engaged till the end. I just love Trouble who I am sure thinks he is human. He makes me laugh out loud at his antics and his clever mind. If only he could speak. Jen’s characters are always loveable and there are others I just wanted to smack. The plot is clever and wonderfully woven and the writing is told in several POV’s.
Annabel is sassy and independent and left despondent about relationships. She has finally come back home and soon finds herself in a situation that is dangerous and possibly illegal but she has Trouble to watch over her and lead the police in the right direction.
Don’t miss out on a this exciting story that I highly recommend.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper is the eighth book in the Familiar Legacy series, this book is by Jen Talty. How this series got to eight books before I discovered it have no idea but now that I have found it I do plan on going back and starting from the beginning.
I loved Trouble! He was just an amazing cat and I hope to have a cat as cool as he is the next time I have one. Reading parts of the story from his prospective was great and I don’t think I have had the pleasure of that before.
Annabel and Ethan have quite the adventure with some assistance from Trouble. I loved their back story and how everything happened for a reason. And it had me guessing until the very end which isn’t always the case.
I throughly enjoyed this book.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper (Familiar Legacy #8) by Jen Talty was a fast pace, fun, entertaining read, that had me hooked.
My first read by this author and for this series, don’t be put off by the number, though this says book eight, it reads as a standalone. I fall right into this story and no point did I feel confused or felt like I was missing something. Nicely balanced and witty, I very much had a good time reading this unique book.
Right away I was pulled into this book, I’m not going to tell you how it opens cause I think it’s a nice little surprise and a fun treat. After that opening we meet Annabel, right away I liked her, and that doesn’t happen very often for me, to actually like a MC right out of the gate. She was fun, witty, and someone I could see wanting to be friends with. A very strong MC, Annabel carried this story, and really made up fro some of the weaker areas.
Overall this book, as I have said, is a super fin read, and you will get hooked right from that unique opening. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will have a time reading this quirky rom-com.
Happy Reading

Trouble’s Wedding Caper is the eighth book in the Familiar Legacy series. It can be read as a standalone.
This was my first time reading a book by this author. Cozy mysteries are not my usual read, but I had a great experience with this one. The cat’s perspective is amusing and the human characters are really well written. Overall it was a fun read and I’d suggest this book to people who are looking for a fairly clean romance with their mystery. And also, mystery solving cat…I think that speaks for itself, lol.
Trouble’s Wedding Caper is book eight in the Familiar Legacy by Jen Talty. A first read for me from this author, and although I am coming into the series rather late, I feel it is better late than never. Stories of finding love the hard way are some of my favourite, and I haven’t come across one that didn’t warm my heart. I felt good things about this story and I was not disappointed.
Annabel goes home with a broken heart, and ends up with a unit full of treasure. But even that has trouble attached. She is a train wreck. Along comes Ethan and a black cat, and total chaos reigns supreme in her life. She falls hard for him and her run of bad luck seems to bed relentless. She doesn’t want to risk giving her heart only to have it broken again. This tale is energetic, suspenseful, intriguing and funny. Trouble was the cherry on top of a fantastic story. I connected well with the characters and was always eager to turn the page and learn more. A brilliant tale that made me anxious to go back to the beginning and start from book one. 4 stars.
5 Star
Trouble’s Wedding Caper ( Familiar Legacy Book 8) By Jen Talty is a wonderfully written book that once I started reading I couldn’t put it down Trouble (the cat) is my favorite character.i loved that this Author told parts of the story in Trouble’s POV.This can be read as a standalone. I see myself going back and readingthis series from beginning to end.Theres a bit of suspense and some romance. There is definitely some chemistry going on with Annabel and Ethan. Can these two solve the wedding and get their Happily ever after? I recommend reading this book. I look forward to reading more from this Author as this was my first book by her.
I have had the chance to get a bit of a taste of Jen Talty’s work in various anthologies here and there and really have enjoyed each story so it was quite a no-brainer for me when I saw the cute cat detective story pop up on my fee for a quick afternoon read. I was a tad cautious, although open-minded, going in because this is book eight of the Familiar Legacy books. I had absolutely no issues picking up right here though, just discovered a sweet series of shorts that I will get to go back and enjoy in the near future. I will say this isn’t a meaty story. It is what I like to classify as a light and fluffy book, something to break up the serious full series reads maybe, so that would be a note for myself and probably a reason for a four star rating as well for me personally.
