She wants something real. He wants something now. Together they’re trouble in USA Today bestselling author Adriana Locke’s sexy and funny twice-in-a-lifetime love story.
With his shameless grin and let’s-play swagger, carpenter Penn Etling leaves women wanting in Dogwood Lane. What do they get? Avery Perry knows: a one-night stand. She’s been there. She remembers every hot pulse as if it were … hot pulse as if it were yesterday. But Penn? He doesn’t remember a thing. Now he’s making new moves, and Avery’s not falling for trouble…again. Is she?
How could the beautiful stranger resist him? Avery is going to be a challenge for the bad boy. She’s the kind of woman who digs deep—deep enough to see there’s more to Penn than meets the eye. But first she has to give him a chance. She has to say yes. Could she also be the woman to make him change his playboy ways?
When these two come together, it’s hard to pull them apart. But with love and trust on the line, can Avery and Penn get what they both want? This time for keeps?

Penn pulled at my heartstrings when I read him in previous books in The Dogwood Lane Series but in this book, he grabbed hold and became one of my favorite Locke characters. He had it all the charm, cockiness, silly, broken and a heart of gold. Avery was the exact type of woman he needed she was sweet but also a woman who knew what she deserved and wasn’t willing to settle.
This book is why I love Adriana Locke…You fall in love with the town, the people and her characters. I knew Penn’s book would be special because Penn doesn’t see himself the way others do and I knew I’d be rooting for him from page 1 and I was right. I absolutely adore the banter between Penn and Avery. I love the realness of the friendship between Penn and Matt. I can’t wait to catch up with Avery and Penn in the next book of this series…..there will be another book….won’t there??….please!! 5 shooting stars for Trouble!
Trouble is book three by Author Adriana Locke in the beloved Dogwood Lane series.
This is Penn and Avery’s story. If you have read the previous books in the series you are familiar with Penn. He is the fun loving friend to everyone and bed warmer to many. He doesn’t have an interest in settling down. He is very multi layered and there is more to him than meets the eye. He really is a sweetheart under all the brash talk.
Avery Penn arrives to escape her Hollywood life and famous mother. She wants a real life and roots in a community where people care about each other. She is tired of her superficial life and phony friends in California. She decides to move in with her aunt. She has loved being there every time she has visited in the past. Speaking of visits…way back when Penn and Avery got to know each other biblically. He doesn’t seem to remember and that breaks her heart because that night meant so much to her.
Penn decides from the first moment he sees her and she literally falls for him that he wants her. The problem is Avery knows that Penn is all about right now and she wants a chance at forever. Can they find their forever? One-click and find out in this charming and heart warming story!
I like Dogwood Lane. It’s a small town, where everyone knows everyone forever and there’s only a couple places to hang out. Trouble is Penn’s book, who is a huge flirt and playboy. The girl to maybe finally change his ways comes all the way from LA, and won’t settle for less than she deserves. Her name is Avery and they actually met years ago!
This is mostly light with banter, cuteness, flirting and friendship. Penn has a sweet vulnerable side that comes out sometimes. Other familiar characters are in this from the series, and I love Avery’s aunt. And of course Matt, who it sounds like we should expect more from in the future! I loved Trouble haha.
Trouble that is what Penn is in in this book! He is such a great character and I loved to watch him grow. Avery moves to Dogwood Lane for a fresh start with her aunt. She wants more than the craziness in LA. She wants real relationships and people in her life.
Penn and Avery have a connection, chemistry and so much more. What I love about this book is the kindness and support Adriana Locke creates in this small town.
What I really love is watching Penn grow throughout the book. As he falls for Avery, what he realizes about himself is awesome! I love all the Dogwood Lane characters and how they welcome Avery into their world. This book gives all the feels! I could not put it down!
Trouble by Adriana Locke a five-star read that wouldn’t give you any trouble to read. This is number three in the Dogwood Lane series and they each tell their own story, they can be read as stand-alone, but I have to admit that I have read them as a series and loved them. When we met Penn in the previous stories I didn’t much like him, I thought he was the original trouble boy, the one all the girls would want, the loveable rouge pretty boy, not usually my cup of tea, but reading his whole story I have me a new favourite Dogwood lane boy. Avery was like a breath of fresh air for me, as a character I really liked her and her whole being, how she came to town and why she has come as well. They have a great meet cute, but is that enough? This is a great story and one that will make you laugh so hard, but there is also heart and soul in the story as well. Do not miss this series and do not miss this story.
This is the third book in the Dogwood Lane series, it’s Penn and Avery story.
We know Penn from previous books and love him. Avery is running from her frivolous life in California, trying to get something real in her life.
When they meet sparks fly instantaneously, but it wasn’t their first encounter, and only Avery recognized him.
I loved the book and the characters. You get to see the other characters from the series, always bantering and giving you the sense of a family.
Penn is a wonderful character, although he seems tough, he is sweet, funny and sexy. He found his match in Avery, in everything.
As always Adriana gives us an amazing book that make you laugh, with a little bit of angst and definitely fall in love.
Trouble by Adriana Locke is sassy, smart and fun. It has memorable and sweet characters that you will not forget
Avery has moved from Los Angeles to a small town, where she once had a one-night stand with a kind stranger, in hopes of forging her own life away from her demanding parents. She wishes nothing but to be loved and accepted for who she is and not for what connections she can give.
Penn is known as a playboy. He is even quoted as saying he is allergic to monogamy.
When they meet, Avery recognizes Penn right away but realizes he does not recognize her. She is embarrassed and saddened to realize that he does not remember her.
But, that doesn’t stop Penn. He is full speed ahead. He wants Avery. Unlike every other woman, this time it’s different. This time he will need to overcome his fear of monogamy if he wishes to win the girl.
Will Avery tell Penn who she is? Can Penn ever want something more that just a one-night stand?
Penn is charming and sweet. He is so endearing. He had me smirking and laughing throughout the book.
The flirtatious banter between Avery and Penn will make you smirk and your heart swoon. Throughout the banter, the sparks fly.
Her aunt Harper is cool and down to earth.
Avery and Penn’s honesty towards each other from the get-go is refreshing. There is no misunderstanding what each of them wants from life and each other. It’s how to get what they want from each other while fulfilling what they need that causes a problem.
The story flowed so well and is completely engaging.
Definitely one-click material!
I received an ARC via NetGalley of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Welcome back to Dogwood Lane. Penn is a man every woman in Dogwood Lane wants to be with. He’s a right now kind of guy, not one for relationships or settling down. He’s never heard the word no from a woman, that is, until Avery moves into town.
I really enjoyed this story. Penn is one of the sweetest characters that Adriana has ever written, and Avery is the woman who can bring him to his knees. If you like sweet romantic stories and a hometown feeling that creeps into your bones, then Trouble and the Dogwood Lane series is a must read.
Although this is not my first book by this author, this is my first book from this series. I wasn’t sure I was going to like Penn as he seemed extremely gigolo-ish but as I continued to read and found out his background, I understood his insecurities. I loved that Avery was mature enough to know what she wanted from a relationship and didn’t settle. There was a wonderful dynamic between Penn and Avery as well as all the secondary characters. I loved Matt and hopes he gets a story. An engaging read.
I received a copy from Netgalley. This is my unbiased review.
Oh Penn, how I adore you.
I really liked this book. Both characters were flawed in their own way but yet they were so much fun and the banter was off the charts.
Penn is this playboy who owns it. Everything out of his mouth has some sort of sexual reference. He is just a fun guy and when he sets his sights on you, you don’t stand a chance. I loved watching this self proclaimed fun single guy start to have feelings and be jealous but yet not even realize it. It was fun to read when his friends would point it out to him.
Avery has her own issues and I loved that she was very forthcoming with what she wanted out of a relationship. That she realized that she wanted more, she wanted to be someone “lobster” and she didn’t want to settle. However then Penn entered the picture. She fought him the whole way which was fun to read. However when there is chemistry like the two of them had. There is no denying it.
Trouble is such a fabulous read. It is book 3 in the Dogwood Lane and you will just love it. Penn is fabulous and you will just get drawn into him by his charm. Penn is so likable that you can’t help but feel deeply for him as he comes to terms on how he handles relationships. I love Avery. She is the light that Penn needs. I call them a second chance but you’ll have to read this to see for yourself what I mean. Avery tries to resist Penn and it’s fun to watch her handle him the way she does. I love the banter between them and the fact that Avery doesn’t give in to the charm of Penn right away. You will love their chemistry and the sweet moments they share. You will just love the changes in Penn throughout this one. This is such a fabulous read that you will not want to miss out on.

Just when I think Adriana can’t get any better with her characters, she knocks another one out of the park. Being the should definitely be the title given. This book was every Hallmark movie I’ve ever seen with the added sexual innuendos and off the charts sexy time we are all dying to witness. u2063

Hats of to you Adriana!
Penn Etling just ruined my world..and I fn’ loved it!
Avery Perry needs a major change in her life, fortunately for her, she knows just where to get away from the spotlight of her parent’s careers. Moving in with her aunt in the tiny southern town of Dogwood Lane seems to be the perfect fit until someone from her past comes back. Penn Etling just wanted a haircut, but now he can’t get the beautiful woman who’s new in town out of his mind, she seems familiar to him, and she’s the only woman to ever shoot him down. Not deterred by her dismissals he promises to be her friend, now all Avery has to do is keep her heart protected.
I loved this third installment of the Dogwood Lane series. Penn Etling was everything I dreamed he would be, bad boy on the outside, but with a heart of gold. Of course, he has a tragic backstory that makes him happy with a string of one-night stands or short term relationships until he meets Avery. I have to admit at their first meeting, and for a while afterward, where he didn’t recognize her I was a little heartbroken for Avery. I admired Avery’s strength to make such a huge move to have a better life for herself. This story has such a rollercoaster of emotions, I didn’t expect so much angst, but it was definitely there. I adore Adriana Locke and her small-town romances, they make me a little homesick for the tiny town I grew up in. Trouble is funny, angsty (but not too much), sweet, and all the other feel-good words, highly recommend. Thank you to Montlake for an ARC.

This is my first read in this series of Dogwood Lane. I quite enjoyed it. Penn is the adorable bad boy, or so it would seem. I would term him as the innocent bad boy. I feel this way because there is so much he hasn’t been privy to before in his life. From a readers view you want to wrap him up and take care of him. Then there’s Avery. To me, she is the real hero of this story. Here’s a person who has been basically used as a prop her whole life. She’s made a decision and is determined to stick by it, even though she is more than tempted. Avery has grit. I would love to discuss this story but I don’t do spoilers. I don’t think it’s fair to the author. You should read the book. What you will get when you read this book is that we get to see behind the curtain and see how people are shaped into who they become and realize your can’t always judge a book by it’s cover, no matter how good looking they are. What you will see is there can always be so much more. People see what we want them to see and sometimes they don’t even know they’re hiding their true self. You should definitely take a trip to Dogwood Lane and discover all the beauty and down home charm that one little town and book can hold. I already know I will be going back to read the other stories in this series. Yes, it was that good.
My favorite of the three! Penn’s story is one that will leave your heart so full.
I absolutely loved seeing the many layers of Penn Etling. You see more to him and what an amazing character he is. Seeing him go through all the emotions and seeing him finally fall was the BEST EVER!!
Adriana Locke has given us a story of fighting for what you want. Making sure you stand up for what you want. Change. And how to love like you’ve never loved before.
I couldn’t put this story down. A definite one-click for any romance reader.
Highly recommended!
*I was given a free advanced copy of this book through Net Galley in exchange for my honest and voluntary review.*
I could not have asked for a better way to return to Dogwood Lane! I love this town and all the stories in it and have been anxiously awaiting Penn’s story. The bad boy player and group goofball, who will never be tied down, finally meets his match and it gives you all the feels. I am a total sucker for this kind of hero and my love for Penn was instant. Avery is making some life changes and I loved her commitment to herself and that she didn’t cave or settle for anything less than what she knew she deserved. I also loved getting to see more of Matt and his personality in this story, he handed Penn’s ass to him a few times and I hope he gets a story too, because he has unsuspecting Alpha written all over him. I anxiously awaited this book since meeting Penn in Tumble and it did not disappoint. This series is a must read!
I received an ARC of this book through NetGalley and voluntarily give my review.
Trouble by Adriana Locke contains every element I love in Romance. I laughed, shed a tear, and grinned while ready Penn and Avery’s story. Penn is sexy, funny, and arrogant with a heart of gold, and Avery is strong, resilient, and hesitant about giving in to Penn’s appeal. But chemistry is hard to deny and these two have it in spades.
Dogwood Lane is the perfect setting for this Small Town Romance. With colorful residents and a charming backdrop, it’s the ideal place for these two stubborn, relationship-weary characters to fall in love.
Locke has another winner on her hands!

ARC kindly received via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I have been looking forward to Penn’s story from the start. He’s the loveable flirt of the group, so I was curious to see what we would get from him.
Penn and Avery are both quite independent characters, but with completely opposite views about what they want from life. They have an instant connection, and plenty of chemistry and sparks fly with all the banter that goes on between them.
Penn being the commitment phobe that he is, doesn’t want to see what’s staring him in the face, even though everyone around him can. Avery knows what she deserves and life is trying to make a positive change. She fits right in in Dogwood Lane, and it’s great to have a strong character like her.
It was fun watching things unfold between these two, even if I did want to slap Penn silly sometimes. Loved having our other fun characters from the town in the story too.
Can’t wait to see what comes next in this series.
I have loved everything that Adriana Locke has written. She has a way of developing characters that are so likeable and have such personalities- and Penn Etling is definitely one of those characters! One of my favorite things about Trouble, the third book in Locke’s Dogwood Lane series, is the banter that Penn had with Avery. I loved how she constantly shot him down, and I loved Penn’s persistence. I will say, I had more difficulty getting sucked into Trouble than I normally do with Locke’s books, but as a whole, I very much enjoyed Trouble!
I really hope that there is more in Dogwood Lane (I’d love to get Jake’s HEA!)!!
